Chapter 216: Chapter 214: Superpower Meeting

After recharging Liu Qingmeng’s magic, the phone placed to the side suddenly rang.

As the slightly unfamiliar ringtone—one he hadn’t heard in two months—played, Fang Can gently extended his right arm.

Under the power of his modified AT Field, the phone with its original black case floated over from a short distance away and settled into his palm.

He glanced at the caller ID. The two words "Meme Lord" jumped out at him.

He answered the call, and a voice that seemed perpetually enthusiastic came from the other end:

"Yo, Hajican! First off, congrats on winning the Tournament of Nations."

Fang Can wasn’t surprised the man knew. Although he hadn’t been deeply involved, he’d vaguely heard Ji Donglai mention it.

Despite having only crossed over twice, they had already managed to plant their own spies in the Otherworld through various means.

It would be strange if these people *didn’t* know about the huge commotion he had caused in the Otherworld.

"Also, I hear you’re in a bit of a tough spot now. All the countries are treating you, the ’cauldron,’ like a personal Realm elevator, heh heh heh!"

The Meme Lord cackled sinisterly over the phone. "If you don’t handle this well, you’re going to become a long-lived elf passed down from generation to generation in some country’s basement."

"Damn, Hajican’s even got the white hair and red eyes now! He’s basically an h-anime protagonist in the Martial Dao world! An Innate Sacred Body of Union!"

"This is what I live to see! Please, you must let other women defile you."

"The thought of you, Hajican, being beaten to your knees by other women and drained for your Star Fury Power... I just can’t help but get excited!"

The corner of Fang Can’s mouth twitched.

He was starting to understand why Ji Donglai and the others had sounded so conflicted when they mentioned the Meme Lord.

Seeing that the guy on the other end was getting more and more worked up, Fang Can, worried the man might actually start getting off right then and there, cut him off. "Did you just call to say all this?"

"Oh, of course not. Got a little sidetracked."

The Meme Lord on the other end of the line seemed to scratch his head as his tone suddenly turned serious. "Boss Ji is having all the State Level espers meet in Akia. He said if you’re willing, you should come along."

"It involves me?" Fang Can asked. "I should still be a ways off from State Level combat power."

"You’re just sitting in. It’s actually voluntary registration. Even City Level guys could come listen, but they all thought the topics were too much of a hassle, so they didn’t."

"Besides, you’re a guaranteed Third Turn in the future. By then, you’ll totally be able to go toe-to-toe with the State Level guys."

"Of course, the most important thing is that this is about the Otherworld. You’d better get the details, bro, or you’ll fall behind the latest patch."

Fang Can subconsciously asked, "About the Otherworld?"

"An Ancient City from Great Chu, a few million square meters in size, just showed up in City C. That’s the main thing Boss Ji and the others are discussing right now."

Hearing the Meme Lord’s explanation, Fang Can’s eyes widened slightly. He hadn’t expected a translocation event on such a massive scale.

"A meeting in Akia, right? How do I get there?" Fang Can asked.

"So you’re coming? Great. I’m already at your door. Let’s go."

Halfway through his sentence, the Meme Lord’s voice was already audible from outside the villa.

’Did he use a spatial teleportation ability, or super speed?’ Fang Can guessed instinctively.

He hung up the phone, walked out of the room, and saw Liu Qingmeng surfing the web and Jiang Ning’an meditating and regulating her breath.

"Going out this late?"

Liu Qingmeng’s eyes held a teasing look. She wondered if her flirting had gotten to him, making him so worked up he couldn’t resist going out to battle his hundred-woman harem.

"I’m going to a meeting with those espers. A whole city of people from Great Chu showed up, and they’re discussing how to handle it."

Fang Can summed up the situation in a few sentences. After reassuring the two women, he got ready to leave.

He stored his anachronistic ancient robes in his spatial equipment and changed back into the clothes Ji Donglai had given him, which could change form at will. Now dressed casually in a T-shirt and pants, Fang Can opened the villa’s main door.

Outside the door, the Meme Lord was already waiting, dressed in a white lab coat that made him look like he’d just escaped from a psychiatric hospital.

Seeing Fang Can’s current appearance, the Meme Lord instinctively gave him a thumbs-up.

"Hajican, with that white hair and red eyes... damn. If women don’t want to get their hands on you and ’humiliate’ you, then your family must’ve hired a pro to keep ’em away!"

"Can you be normal for once? Stop with all the terrible memes," Fang Can said, unable to stop himself from facepalming.

In response, the Meme Lord said nothing, simply smiling and uttering a single syllable: "Man!"

"Fuck..." Fang Can was utterly speechless. He cut straight to the chase. "How do we get to this headquarters?"

"I’m taking you, of course."

The Meme Lord, humming some strange old tune, grabbed Fang Can’s arm and began preparing to teleport.

By the time Fang Can came to his senses, the two of them had already appeared in a conference room.

From what Fang Can could observe, the entire conference room was cast from a solid alloy. There were no passages to the outside, and it blocked all external signals.

In the center of the room was a massive round table, on which some twenty-odd files were scattered.

Of course, more than the room itself, Fang Can was focused on the people present.

The Divine Separator, the Stitch-Fiends, Superman F, the Time Ranger, the Godling...

A single glance revealed that of the dozen or so espers present, all in different attire, a large number were publicly known figures.

Their abilities varied wildly. Espers were specialists, only proficient within the scope of their powers, unlike Martial Artists who were more versatile.

That was why even a Continent Level esper could be killed by a normal person in a sneak attack if they let their guard down.

And while Fang Can was observing them, they were sizing him up as well.

"You did well in the Tournament of Nations. Didn’t bring shame on us espers."

Six men with their arms slung around each other’s shoulders spoke in perfect unison, then extended their hands together. "Will you join me and form a team for life?"

"No, thanks..." Fang Can waved his hands dismissively.

The six men before him shared a single moniker: "Stitch-Fiend."

Because an esper’s abilities were often too singular, these men had decided to form a lifelong, inseparable team. They viewed the team as a single entity, with each person acting as one of its parts.

The six-man team had dedicated skills for healing, damage output, and defense, among others.

According to media interviews, they ate together, slept together, and even held it in so they could use the restroom together. They even shared women.

Compared to Stitch-Fiend, even the Meme Lord seemed somewhat normal.

After being rejected by Fang Can, the members of Stitch-Fiend sighed, sat back down shoulder-to-shoulder, and a woman chuckled. "The kid has a bright future ahead of him. He’s not going to get tangled up with you six, so don’t give him a hard time."

As she spoke, Ji Donglai entered the conference room, accompanied by two other espers.

He smiled at the assembled group. "Alright, it looks like almost everyone’s here. First, let’s congratulate a member of our family, Fang Can, for his excellent performance in winning first place at the Tournament of Nations. Let’s have a round of applause to welcome him."
