Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Traveling Between Two Worlds

Inside the brightly lit villa, a shirtless Fang Can was examining the interior decor.

The furnishings were the same as when he’d left, but to Fang Can, who had grown accustomed to a more ancient aesthetic, it felt as if a lifetime had passed.

’I’m finally back. Tonight, I’m going to take a hot shower, crank the AC to the max, grab some chips and a drink, wrap myself in a blanket, and enjoy a classic pre-Cataclysm movie. Then, I’ll have a wonderful night’s sleep.’

Suddenly back in a familiar environment, the tension Fang Can had held for a month finally eased as he thought to himself.

Jiang Ning’an, however, was not nearly as composed. She stared in disbelief at the strapping figure before her.

WHAP!

With a sharp sound of impact, Fang Can was stunned to find his arm gripped by Jiang Ning’an.

Staring at the perfect physique before her, Jiang Ning’an’s eyes glazed over, and her breathing deepened involuntarily.

’Profound Gate Sixth Layer... How could he possibly reach the Profound Gate Sixth Layer so quickly? It makes no sense! It’s only been half a month, and it took me over half a year!’

’Uh... Elder Jiang, is something wrong?’ Stared at so intensely by her, Fang Can felt his skin crawl, and he couldn’t help but wonder with some hesitation.

His mind even began to wonder: if a female rogue at the Third Layer of the Heaven-Ascending Road had ill intentions, what could a mere boy like him, at only the Profound Gate Sixth Layer, do to protect his chastity?

The young woman finally snapped out of it. A blush crept onto her pretty face as she took two steps back, putting distance between herself and the body brimming with male hormones. She said:

"I remember you hadn’t even reached the First Layer before we parted ways... How did you get this far in only fifteen days?"

"I told you I’m a peerless genius. Having lived with me for so long, Elder, you should have been somewhat prepared for this," Fang Can said with a slight smile.

"And here I thought you’d only make it to the second layer of the Profound Gate at most," the young woman said with a slight pout, her voice laced with disappointment. The feeling of being so utterly crushed by someone else’s talent was awful.

Fang Can just smiled and didn’t reply. His Realm was currently being suppressed; he was letting it grow wild and unchecked.

He was still focusing most of his energy on things like combat.

Realizing she wasn’t maintaining the air of a senior, the young woman cleared her throat and said,

"At this rate, if you choose to break through, you could probably reach the Profound Gate Ninth Layer within a month. Then, after some preparation, you could ascend the Heaven-Ascending Road."

"However... I still wouldn’t recommend you ascend the Heaven-Ascending Road too soon. You should spend at least another year consolidating your foundation," the young woman explained.

After all, if she didn’t explain now, the next time she saw the young man, he might have already left the Transcendent Body stage completely behind.

"Why? Is there a particular reason?" Fang Can asked.

"Because when you step onto the Heaven-Ascending Road, a corresponding Legacy is born based on the choices of your heart."

"A Legacy is a manifested ability of your inner self. For example, a glutton might develop the ability to grow stronger by eating meat, while someone who fears death might gain the superpower of longevity."

"The more resolute the spirit, the stronger the body, and the richer the experiences of a Martial Artist, the more profoundly different their manifested Legacy will be."

"Got it. So I need to start suppressing my level and focus on my foundation," Fang Can said, summarizing his understanding.

Jiang Ning’an nodded lightly in agreement. "So, I hope you’ll take some time to properly consolidate your foundation, at least until after you participate in the international tournament a month from now."

"So this international tournament... what exactly is it?" Fang Can asked. He’d already heard the term a few times.

"It’s a competition where the elites of every nation gather for a massive free-for-all battle. It’s held once every ten years."

"The winner gets an opportunity to multiply their ’Light of the Heart,’ which will give your manifested Legacy a terrifying enhancement."

Jiang Ning’an glanced at Fang Can. "At your current rate of advancement, you’ll have a chance to enter Fangcun Mountain for it. It’ll be good for you to experience it, but don’t get your hopes up about placing high."

Fang Can nodded lightly to show he understood, but inwardly, he dismissed her words.

’Since I’ve decided to participate, it would be too embarrassing not to take first place. If you can’t be the strongest of your generation, what’s the point?’

Jiang Ning’an, who had a good idea of what Fang Can was thinking, simply smiled faintly and offered no further explanation.

’Anyway, once he actually participates in the international tournament, he’ll naturally understand that it’s absolutely impossible for him to become champion. It isn’t a fair competition to begin with.’

’After all, he won’t just be facing Martial Artists in his own Realm, but countless prodigies who have already set foot on the Heaven-Ascending Road.’

And the gap between the Transcendent Body and the Heaven-Ascending Road was a massive, insurmountable chasm.

Just as Fang Can and Jiang Ning’an were talking, the lights in the villa began to flicker. A humanoid figure composed of pure electricity started to materialize.

Almost instantly, Fang Can retreated several steps, his expression puzzled as he stared at the electrical, humanoid creature before him.

Through his intuition for danger and safety, he could sense that the person before him posed no threat.

’But to show up so suddenly, and in this manner... could it be some superpower user who’s curious about me?’

"Fang Can, don’t worry. This is my master," Jiang Ning’an said with a smile.

"Your master? Isn’t that..." A beautiful silhouette immediately surfaced in Fang Can’s mind.

Sure enough, the next moment, the electric figure spoke, its voice tinged with a synthetic crackle. "Not bad. To reach the Profound Gate Sixth Layer in a mere ten days... that is beyond my expectations."

As she spoke, the electric body gradually solidified, transforming into a peerlessly beautiful woman with blue hair that fell to her knees, a face that could topple cities, and a gown of snow-white silk.

’Liu Qingmeng...’ Fang Can thought, recalling their recent meeting. He was shocked that she had managed to follow him to this world.

"Don’t be shocked. This is merely an external avatar formed from Spiritual Qi. Separated by an entire world, even I cannot contact my true self."

"If I hadn’t used a trick to piggyback on Ning An’s presence here, not even an expert at the Sixth Turn could have forced their way into this world."

Liu Qingmeng stated, her face a cool, impassive mask, "This body possesses less than one percent of my full power. For now, it can only be used to gather intelligence about this world."

Even with her explanation, Fang Can found the situation absurd.

He had, after all, imagined whether it was possible to traverse between worlds upon reaching the pinnacle of the Martial Dao. To see the woman before him actually do it, however, still left him astonished.

He recalled Ye Yonglie’s introduction: Liu Qingmeng, a supreme master at the Fourth Turn of the Heaven-Ascending Road. Only now did he truly understand the weight of that title.

He glanced at Jiang Ning’an beside him. ’She seems to be at the Third Layer of the Heaven-Ascending Road. Can the difference of just one level really be this massive?’

"However, you’ve been shirtless long enough."

Liu Qingmeng frowned at Fang Can, looking at him as if he were some indecent lout. Then, in a commanding tone, she said, "Get dressed first. Then we’ll talk."

Without arguing, Fang Can nodded, picked up a change of clothes, and walked into the adjacent bathroom, intending to take a proper shower.
