This Is What a Villain Is Like
Chapter 487: Are You a Dog? You Won't Lose Out Being My Woman, Helian Wen's Invitation
The private room was magnificent and lavishly decorated. Mist swirled through the air, making it feel like a paradise on earth.
Tantai Qing’s eyes were shut tight, her lovely face a mask of biting cold. But a closer look would reveal the sleeve she gripped in her hand, trembling faintly. Clearly, she was not as composed as she appeared.
A woman as proud as her, who from birth had been the Bright Pearl of the Tantai Family, surrounded by a dazzling, brilliant aura. She had never known a moment of humiliation or injustice in her entire life.
Even the family’s most powerful and revered ancestors doted on her, holding her in the highest esteem. They believed she would one day surpass their forebears, become a female Saint, and restore the glory of their family name.
If there was one thing that had ever truly humiliated her… it was that her family had arranged a marriage alliance with the Helian Family, betrothing her to Helian Wen before she was even born.
To think that she, a future Saint destined to look down upon the world from the highest peak, would become the wife of Helian Wen—a man inferior to her in every way. The very thought was a profound humiliation.
But never before had she experienced a night like this… one that filled her with such ultimate rage and shame.
‘Jiang Lan…’
‘I swear, I will make you pay a terrible price for what you’ve done tonight. I will make you regret it.’ Tantai Qing’s eyes remained shut, her long lashes trembling, the hatred on her beautiful, soft face completely unconcealed.
Though she hadn’t spoken a word, her every thought was written plainly on her face.
Jiang Lan caressed her soft waist through the fabric of her dress, an amused smile playing on his lips.
He lowered his head slightly, drawing close to her long, pale neck as if to take a gentle sniff.
Tantai Qing felt a rush of warm breath and her entire body tensed. Goosebumps visibly rose on her neck.
“Jiang Lan, if you are merely toying with me, I will fight you to the bitter end, even if it means mutual destruction.” Her eyes snapped open, and she turned her head to stare coldly at Jiang Lan.
When she saw Jiang Lan was only watching her with a knowing smile, saying nothing, she was overcome with humiliation and struggled to stand.
“What’s the hurry?”
Jiang Lan finally spoke. The arm around her waist was like an iron band, holding her firmly in place.
“It seems the rumors were true, but you’re far more hidden than they suggest.” Tantai Qing stopped struggling. Her eyes turned to ice as she watched his hand roam freely.
Jiang Lan’s other hand lifted her delicate, pale chin. “Judging someone based on rumors is the most foolish thing a person can do,” he said noncommittally. “Besides, I never claimed to be a good person.”
Tantai Qing let out a cold laugh. “Then isn’t it time you told me who Helian Wen’s backer is?”
The person she most wanted to eliminate right now was, naturally, Helian Wen.
Although the theft of the Three Saints Heart Refining Pill was considered a closed case, the Helian Family still found the matter suspicious. Many of their members refused to give up, still investigating clues, convinced Helian Wen was incapable of such an act.
If the Helian Family were to discover that Helian Wen was still alive, there was no guarantee the truth of the past wouldn’t be unearthed, leading to her complete ruin and disgrace…
The Elder Pavilion might even intervene. And despite her grandfather’s protection, they would likely act to preserve the honor of a Saint’s Noble Family and cleanse their own house.
“Not yet,” Jiang Lan said, shaking his head.
At his words, Tantai Qing finally laughed, a sound born of pure fury. A terrifying aura surged around her as a faint glow emanated from her flawless skin. Her waist coiled like a dragon as she unleashed a torrent of volcanic power, ready to fight him to the death.
“I told you not to be so impatient. How can you hope to accomplish anything great if you’re always in such a rush?” Jiang Lan seemed to ignore her rage, his tone still perfectly composed.
As he spoke, a hazy light emanated from his palm. The faint image of a Four Saints Illusion appeared, transforming into a majestic, colossal power that augmented his physical body, a force far beyond immense.
With a single light pat from him, all of Tantai Qing’s struggles became useless. The powerful aura she had gathered instantly dispersed.
“At this range, struggling is useless,” Jiang Lan said casually.
The Four Saints Ancient Celestial Skill had countless wondrous applications. Augmented by the Power of the Four Holy Spirits, his combat strength increased exponentially.
His physical strength was already far greater than others at the same cultivation level. At this range, forget Tantai Qing, who hadn’t even reached the Seventh Realm—even a true Seventh Realm cultivator couldn’t hope to break free by force alone.
“You bastard…”
“I’ll kill you one day.”
Tantai Qing gritted her teeth. She was beginning to understand. She had thought Jiang Lan’s strength lay only in his profound Magical Power and unpredictable techniques; she never imagined his physical power was also this incredible.
“I’ll be waiting,” Jiang Lan said, unconcerned.
“So you’re truly not afraid of mutual destruction?” Tantai Qing said coldly.
“At least, not right now. You’re vicious, ruthless, and selfish, but you cherish one thing above all else: your own reputation. You value it even more than your own life.”
“If you die, Helian Wen will be free to reveal the truth of what happened all those years ago. The image you’ve so carefully maintained would collapse overnight. You’d be utterly ruined and disgraced. Is that what you want?” Jiang Lan’s fingers tightened on her smooth, pale chin, his lips curved in a mocking smile.
‘Everyone has a weakness. He was no exception, and neither was Tantai Qing.’
‘Before coming to Immortal Ascension Island, he had already pieced together everything he knew about her life, giving him a thorough understanding of her character.’
‘That was why he was so fearless, completely unconcerned that Tantai Qing would ever slip from his grasp.’
“You despicable, shameless, scheming, treacherous bastard…”
