As Tantai Qing’s words faded, a figure appeared upon the turbulent sea. His hair was disheveled and he was clad in coarse linen, yet he exuded an aura that was both demonic and divine.

He stood there, his gaze fixed upon her. Though his features were now completely different, Tantai Qing recognized him at a glance. It was Helian Wen.

There was no mistaking his eyes, especially the bone-deep hatred in his gaze.

"It’s been a while, Tantai Qing."

With a flicker, Helian Wen’s figure landed on the cliff, coming to a stop about thirty feet from Tantai Qing.

The hatred in his eyes subsided, his expression becoming placid and unreadable.

"So it has. I had assumed you would die in the Demon Abyss. I never expected you to be so lucky as to survive."

"But what’s the point of just surviving? Now you’re no better than a rat scurrying through the streets. Surely you don’t still dream of returning to the Helian Family?" Tantai Qing clasped her hands behind her back, her expression one of complete nonchalance.

Helian Wen watched her with a cold expression, unmoved by her taunts.

"I never imagined you could be such a vicious, ruthless woman. If I had seen you for what you truly are sooner, I never would have been fooled."

"But alas, there are no cures for regret in this world. That leaves me no choice but to clear my name and strike you down with my own two hands."

He said coldly, a demonic aura swirling in the depths of his eyes, brimming with killing intent.

"Fooled by me?"

"Heh. Helian Wen, you certainly give yourself too much credit. When did I ever say I liked you, or that I admired you? And when did I egg you on to steal the Three Saints Heart Refining Pill? It was all in your head. Your pathetic display of affection was frankly nauseating."

"If you asked me here just to rehash all this, then you’ve wasted your time."

"I came today to put an end to our past, once and for all," Tantai Qing said, her hands clasped behind her back, her tone cold and detached.

’Helian Wen was so furious he laughed. He had thought that after all these years, Tantai Qing might feel even a sliver of regret. If she had, he might have spared her life, content to simply destroy her cultivation and prevent her from committing any more evil.’

"Your cruelty is truly bone-deep."

"Let’s see just how powerful you’ve become to act so arrogantly," he said in a cold voice.

He felt a suppressive force descend from above. With a furious roar, his unkempt hair flew wildly as wisps of black mist began to emanate from the surface of his skin.

In that moment, he looked like a Demon God manifesting in the mortal world, his power overwhelming heaven and earth. The entire surface of the sea began to boil, the cliffs trembled, and the Star Realm she had formed shattered in an instant.
