This Is What a Villain Is Like
Chapter 509 - 170: Come to My Bedchamber Tonight at 7:00 PM
She recognized the young clan member. He was the grandson of one of the clan’s Elders and was very well-loved.
That day, several young disciples from the Helian Family had surrounded one of the Tantai Family’s Gambling Stone Workshops. When a few of her clan members went to reason with them, a brawl broke out after just a few words were exchanged.
The young disciples from the Helian Family had clearly come prepared. Acting on their family’s orders, they attacked with lethal intent, their methods utterly ruthless.
"Sister Qing’Er, you have to get justice for us! The Helian Family is going too far."
the young clan members said, their voices full of resentment.
Tantai Qing quickly reassured them, telling them to go and rest well. She promised she would get justice for them.
’It’s obvious. The Helian Family must have found something out, which is why they’re lashing out in anger...’
Tantai Qing went to find Jiang Lan, intending to ask if he knew of Helian Wen’s whereabouts.
Jiang Lan’s answer was quite simple.
At Tantai Xu’s invitation, he had moved out of his temporary residence at Prince Zhong’s Mansion a few days ago and was now staying within the Tantai Family’s estate.
Whether it was by Tantai Xu’s design or not, his courtyard was located very close to Tantai Qing’s. With their level of cultivation, either of them could appear in the other’s courtyard in the span of a single thought.
Of course, Jiang Lan could guess what Tantai Xu was thinking. He didn’t call attention to it, nor did he bring it up, preferring to wait for Tantai Qing to come and explain things herself.
"I suspected as much. Helian Wen must have already contacted his family and secured their support." Tantai Qing’s beautiful face darkened, and a cold, murderous intent was unconcealable on her flawless features.
As she spoke, she looked at Jiang Lan again, her tone firm.
"You did something to Helian Wen that night, didn’t you? Someone as cunning and treacherous as you would have definitely left some kind of contingency. You wouldn’t have let him go that easily."
"I was just venting your anger for you that night. You think too poorly of me," Jiang Lan said, shaking his head with a composed expression.
"You’re not lying to me?" Tantai Qing stared at him, her crystalline, gem-like eyes shimmering.
"I’m not," Jiang Lan replied, still shaking his head.
"Do you take me for a three-year-old?" Tantai Qing snapped.
"If I had left some trick on Helian Wen, how could Huangfu Hao have possibly failed to notice? Are you overestimating me?" Jiang Lan asked with a faint laugh.
Tantai Qing’s gaze was intense. "Others might have been caught, but not you. I’m certain you have a way to deceive even Huangfu Hao."
"As long as I know where Helian Wen is, I can lead my people to corner and kill him. If the Helian Family still tries to shelter him then, they will truly incite public outrage. Even the Gongsun Family wouldn’t dare to keep taking their side."
It was the simplest and most direct solution she could think of.
Drag the skulking Helian Wen out from the shadows.
"That is indeed a good plan," Jiang Lan agreed with an approving nod.
"Then tell me where Helian Wen is..." Tantai Qing stared at him, so close that her orchid-scented breath seemed to caress his face.
Jiang Lan replied with amusement, "And just like that, you expect me to tell you? Isn’t that a bit too optimistic?"
"So you really do know." A hint of excitement entered Tantai Qing’s voice. In truth, she hadn’t been entirely sure if Jiang Lan had actually left a contingency.
But she had thought it through. Jiang Lan’s demand that night—for Helian Wen to take a palm strike before being let go—couldn’t have been without reason. As for his claim that it was to help her vent her anger, she’d have to be an idiot to believe that.
"I do, in fact, know."
This time, Jiang Lan didn’t bother to hide it, his amused gaze still fixed on her.
After their recent interactions, Tantai Qing had a good grasp of his personality. The saying "one doesn’t loose the falcon until the rabbit is seen" described him perfectly.
Getting him to help her with just a few words was absolutely impossible.
"Tonight, at 7:00 PM, come to my chambers..."
Tantai Qing took a deep breath, as if she had made a monumental decision.
She had been thinking about it for the past few days. Her grandfather, Tantai Xu, had told her to find a solution on her own, but what could she possibly do? The only way to change the family’s will was to become a Saint overnight.
Hearing this, Jiang Lan seemed slightly surprised. Then he smiled. "Alright."
"But before that, I need to teach you a Cultivation Technique first. With your talent, you should be able to learn it quickly."
"What kind of Cultivation Technique?"
Tantai Qing was taken aback. She subconsciously assumed it was the Four Holy Spirits Divine Techniques she had mentioned to Jiang Lan before, and her gaze immediately grew fervent.
"You’ll find out soon enough..." Jiang Lan reached out and tapped the spot between her eyebrows. A stream of light flowed into her mind.
"You..." Tantai Qing began to process the Cultivation Technique, but she quickly became furious, an unnatural flush rising to her cheeks.
"The effects are better this way," Jiang Lan said with a smile.
