Xiao Yanci said while dressing, “I just saw Marquis Jing’an go upstairs.”

“What is he doing here?” Jiang Yihuan’s face changed drastically, “Could he be here to catch us?”

“If I walk out like this, I’ll definitely run into him. If he sees me here and then sees you here, he’ll guess the reason immediately. We already have a lot of rumors between us; we can’t let him catch us red-handed no matter what.”

Xiao Yanci looked outside from the window and climbed down from it.

“What are you doing?” Jiang Yihuan stared in shock at his actions.

“This is the second floor, not too high. Jumping down from here shouldn’t be difficult.” Xiao Yanci said as he climbed down from the window.

Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu hadn’t gone far. Seeing this scene, both of their eyes were filled with mischief.

Zhou Wangshu picked up a stone from the ground and flicked it in Xiao Yanci’s direction.

Bang! Xiao Yanci’s forehead was hit by the stone.

Xiao Yanci felt the pain and his hand slipped, causing him to fall from the second floor.

“Ah…” He screamed miserably.

People who hadn’t been paying attention to him looked over and their expressions turned odd when they saw him fall from upstairs with disheveled clothes.

Wang Ruyan was in a room getting cozy with her lover and the familiar sound outside caught her attention. She looked down from the window just in time to see Xiao Yanci fall to the ground.

Xiao Yanci struggled to raise his head, meeting Wang Ruyan’s gaze.

At that moment, both of their expressions were intriguing.

Marquis Jing’an pushed the door open and entered.

He heard the sound, looked out the window, and saw Xiao Yanci lying on the ground.

He seemed to think of something and immediately came out to open the room next door, but found no one in the room on the left.

He then opened the room on the right and a look of surprise flashed in his eyes when he saw Wang Ruyan.

Weren’t these two a married couple? Why would they abandon their spacious home to get cozy in an inn? Perhaps they are ill?

Marquis Jing’an didn’t see Jiang Yihuan, nor did he see Wang Ruyan’s lover.

Xiao Yanci had attracted everyone’s attention, allowing Wang Ruyan’s lover and Jiang Yihuan to be alarmed and hide.

When Xiao Yanci saw Wang Ruyan, a harsh look crossed his eyes.

He had clearly instructed Wang Ruyan to wait for him at the stall, yet she ended up coming to the inn. Could it be she got some news and came to catch him in the act?

Wang Ruyan quickly went downstairs and helped Xiao Yanci up.

“My husband, are you alright?”

Xiao Yanci said indifferently, “Why are you here?”

“Someone said they saw you enter the inn, so I came here specifically to find you. My husband, where were you just now?”

“Someone also said you entered the inn, so I followed to take a look. It seems like someone wants to sow discord between us.”

Xiao Yanci and Wang Ruyan each harbored ulterior motives.

To conceal their affairs, they dared not delve into each other’s reasons for being here. They both wanted to change the subject to avoid exposing their own secrets.

Initially, Wang Ruyan admired Xiao Yanci because of his good looks and talent. However, after marrying him and seeing him constantly causing trouble while being constantly scolded by her father, her admiration disappeared.

She thought of her cousin who broke his vow for her. He was adept at flattering women and skillful in bed.

She originally came to the inn to catch up with her cousin, but she couldn’t resist temptation and was lured into bed with him. Luckily, Xiao Yanci didn’t catch them; otherwise, it would have caused a scandal, disgracing the Prime Minister’s Mansion, and her father would have surely beaten her to death.

Marquis Jing’an thought that someone had called him here, not to let him wander idly. He stood at the inn’s counter and inquired about the person who came with that Xiao, what kind of person and what she looked like.

“That gentleman did indeed have a woman beside him, but the woman was wearing a veil hat, making it difficult to see her appearance.”

“How tall is she?”

Jiang Yihuan and Wang Ruyan had significantly different heights.

The shopkeeper gestured, about half a head shorter than Marquis Jing’an.

Jiang Yihuan wasn’t that tall.
