This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man
Chapter 332: Saving Her (Part 2)
The two monks had just managed to remain unfazed, but when they heard this voice, they stood there stiffly like logs.
“Ugh…” Someone vomited dry heaves nearby.
The mysterious figure mocked, “Useless.”
He walked towards Su Yaoguang with a knife in hand, clearly about to attack her.
“Stop.” Bang! Someone kicked open the door of the secret chamber and rushed in.
The mysterious figure saw the intruder and his expression changed drastically: “Zhou Wangshu.”
Zhou Wangshu looked at Su Yaoguang lying there and exhaled lightly.
Luckily, he arrived in time.
The mysterious figure reached for Su Yaoguang, attempting to use her to threaten Zhou Wangshu. However, just as he stretched out his arm, Su Yaoguang, who was supposed to be unconscious, opened her eyes, grabbed the mysterious figure, and restrained him entirely.
The two monks had already been subdued.
Zhou Wangshu charged in with his subordinates.
“Yaoguang, are you alright?” Zhou Wangshu held Su Yaoguang by the shoulders, “Didn’t I tell you not to take risks? If there’s anything, tell me, let me handle it. You still took a risk knowing Tong Qianbi was suspicious.”
“I didn’t know she was suspicious. In fact, she disguised herself so well that I never caught her in the act.”
“Then what happened now?” Zhou Wangshu asked.
“I was being cautious! Before coming to the temple fair, I arranged for people to follow me. I told them to follow without alerting anyone. If anything happened at the fair, they were to find you for assistance. It seems the two I arranged were quite smart, and your timing was impeccable.”
“You! You’re really trying to drive me crazy.” Zhou Wangshu said, looking at the mysterious figure, reaching out to remove his mask.
The mysterious figure suddenly struck, aiming a needle at Zhou Wangshu, who counterattacked, sending the needle flying towards Su Yaoguang. To protect Su Yaoguang, Zhou Wangshu released the mysterious figure. The mysterious figure quickly broke free from the subordinates’ control and leapt into another secret door in the chamber—obviously, the mechanism here was more complex than anticipated.
“He actually got away.” Zhou Wangshu frowned. “Search for the secret door and see if we can capture him.”
“Sir, what should we do with this woman?” A subordinate asked.
Tong Qianbi’s face was exposed, now a bloody mess, looking terrifying.
“Take her back and return her to Marchioness Cheng’an.” Zhou Wangshu said, “Hope she likes the gift I send her.”
Su Yaoguang muttered, “Only a madman would like this gift!”
“Once we return, I’ll tell my father-in-law and mother-in-law about this and let them judge your actions.”
Su Yaoguang held Zhou Wangshu’s hand, intertwining fingers, “Husband, I was wrong. I swear this is the last time, there won’t be a next time.”
The bloody smell in the chamber was overwhelming. They left immediately.
“Wait…” Su Yaoguang stopped, looking at the chamber door. “There’s such a secret room in the temple, we must investigate what’s secret inside. Who built it, what it’s used for, and who the monks in this temple belong to.”
“Ugh…”
The subordinates saw the faceless Tong Qianbi, and even though they’ve seen much bloodshed, they were still nauseated.
In the carriage, Su Yaoguang leaned on Zhou Wangshu.
Zhou Wangshu held her tightly, feeling both annoyed and angry, but couldn’t bear to say a harsh word to her.
He recalled her death in a previous life.
He had already seen her die once, and couldn’t imagine what he would do if she died due to his inability to protect her.
Before, he could calmly be a bystander, but now she’s his wife, the woman he loves deeply, and he couldn’t stay calm.
Cong’an Courtyard. Marchioness Cheng’an had just returned from a banquet, removing the ornaments from her hair.
“How was the second young master today?” Marchioness Cheng’an inquired, “How’s his appetite?”
“I just asked, and the second young master was in good spirits today and ate a lot.” The maid replied.
“He’s finally willing to see reason.” Marchioness Cheng’an said, “I told him, as long as he takes care of his body, I will find a way to treat his injuries. Now that he’s willing to eat, once his body is strong, we can start treatment.”
“Madam, the eldest young master sent a gift, saying you must personally open it.” A servant reported.
Two servants carried in a box.
Marchioness Cheng’an’s eyes showed a hint of hesitation: “Would he be so kind?”
Even without his previous memories, his current behavior showed he wanted to contend for the title of Cheng’an Hou Mansion, seeing them as a thorn in his eye, wishing to kill them with a glance. How could he be so kind to send her a gift?
