Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Going to the Prescott Family

Chloe York took a special trip to the Prescott’s home over the weekend.

Ever since the Prescott family had decided to formally recognize her as their goddaughter, they had announced with great fanfare that she was now a young lady of the family.

And Miss Prescott doted on her completely, treating her like her own granddaughter. It had only been a few days, but she had already called Chloe several times, urging her to come visit the family home.

She was worried Chloe might be having a hard time at school and also wanted to make her first visit as a daughter of the family a grand and lively affair.

Chloe couldn’t refuse any longer and felt it was wrong to keep turning the old woman down. So, she packed a few clothes and headed to the Prescott’s home for the weekend.

The moment she stepped through the main gate, the security guard on duty recognized her instantly. His face broke into a warm, respectful smile as he announced, "Ah, the young miss has returned. Welcome home, Miss!"

The title "Miss" made Chloe feel a bit awkward, and she responded with a slightly uncomfortable smile and a nod.

’It’s just like those videos I’ve seen on TikTok,’ she thought, ’the ones that are like, "Welcome home, CEO!"’

A golf cart pulled up, and after she got in, it drove her directly to the castle.

The cart had barely stopped when Miss Prescott hurried out, leaning on her cane and supported by a maid. The moment she saw Chloe, her eyes filled with adoration and delight. She immediately took Chloe’s hand. "My dear Chloe, you’re finally here! Was the journey tiring? Why didn’t you let me know you were coming? I would’ve had the driver pick you up from campus."

Another maid, quick on the uptake, took the bag from Chloe’s hand.

"Grandma, I’m not tired. It was easy to get a cab, so there was no need to trouble the driver," Chloe replied sweetly as the old woman held her hand.

Hearing this, Miss Prescott disagreed. "Nonsense. What do you mean, ’trouble’? You’re a daughter of the Prescott family now. You can command any of the maids or drivers. They’ll all listen to you."

Chloe nodded, not saying anything further.

She followed Miss Prescott into the living room. They chatted for a while, and before they knew it, evening had fallen.

Miss Prescott hadn’t let go of Chloe’s hand, her gaze filled with warmth. "Chloe, dear, this is your first time coming home as a daughter of the family. You simply must stay the night and get a feel for the place. From now on, this is your second home. You can’t be so formal with your grandmother anymore and talk about not staying."

Chloe saw the hopeful look in the old woman’s eyes. She had already planned on staying the night, so she smiled and nodded. "Okay, whatever Grandma says. I’ll stay."

With Chloe’s agreement, Miss Prescott beamed, unable to hide the joy in her voice. "Oh, Chloe! We prepared a room for you a long time ago. It’s right next to mine and gets wonderful light. All the furniture and decorations were picked out just for you, based on your tastes. Come on, Grandma will show you your room."

Miss Prescott stood up, eager to show Chloe the room.

"Okay." Chloe nodded, rising to her feet and following Miss Prescott toward the second floor.

On the second floor, they walked to the end of a long corridor lined with famous paintings. Miss Prescott pushed open a closed door.

"Chloe, this is the room we prepared for you. What do you think? Do you like it? If there’s anything you want to change, just let us know, and we’ll change it."

Chloe looked up and froze in place. "Grandma, this... this is incredible. You put so much thought into it."

The room was spacious and bright, decorated in a gentle, light-colored palette. It wasn’t oppressively luxurious; instead, every detail radiated thoughtfulness.

An exquisite desk sat by the window, and every little object, no matter how small, was clearly chosen with care.

There were even skincare products on the vanity, and several interesting houseplants were thoughtfully placed in a corner.

Every detail showed just how much care the person who had decorated the room had put into it.

Seeing her astonished expression, Miss Prescott smiled and gently ruffled her hair. "Silly child. You’re a daughter of the Prescott family now. This is how it should be. From now on, this is your own private room. You can come back and stay whenever you like. If you’re missing anything or want something, just tell your grandma, and I’ll have it all ready for you."

"Thank you, Grandma!" Chloe felt a prickle in her nose. In her entire life, aside from herself, very few people had ever been so meticulously thoughtful on her behalf.

’Coming into this world, my greatest fortune has probably been meeting Miss Prescott and Mrs. Prescott.’

"Why are you thanking your grandma? Your mother and I prepared this for you together—that is, the one you used to call Miss Prescott," Miss Prescott said, pulling her to the bedside to sit down.

"We’re family now, so you don’t have to be so formal. Just relax and make yourself at home, really. Don’t feel like you have to be on your best behavior."

"Okay!"

Later, Sophia Quinn returned home, and the three of them sat down to a happy dinner together.

After dinner, Chloe went back to her room. She slept exceptionally well that night.

It felt like being in her own home, and her sleep was deep and peaceful.

But perhaps because of her internal clock, she still woke up early the next day. She had to get back to campus, after all.

Miss Prescott was an early riser due to her age.

As for Mrs. Prescott, she had returned late the previous night, but upon learning that Chloe was staying over, she made sure to get up early as well.

The three of them had breakfast together at the dining table before moving to the living room.

Chloe sat and chatted with Miss Prescott and Mrs. Prescott. Both women, the elder and the younger, looked at her with undisguised affection.

"Chloe, would you come back every weekend and keep an old woman like me company? The house is so large, and with just your mother and me, it gets terribly quiet. When you’re here, the house feels so much more lively, and it puts my heart at ease."

As she spoke, the old woman sounded almost plaintive, like a pouting child.

’In truth, Chloe was hesitant about visiting so often. Sooner or later, I’m bound to run into Ethan Prescott.’

’It’s better if we don’t see each other too often right now.’

But Miss Prescott’s pleading expression made it impossible for her to find the words to refuse.

Mrs. Prescott, sitting beside her, quickly chimed in, taking Chloe’s other hand in hers.

She joined the campaign of persuasion.

"That’s right, Chloe. Don’t just keep Grandma company, keep me company too, okay? You know, for all these years, I’ve only had my son, Ethan. I’ve always dreamed of having a sweet, loving daughter. Now that I finally have you, you have to come back often to spend time with your mom."

"Besides, we have everything ready for you here. We’re just hoping you’ll visit often so we can have some mother-daughter talks, right?"

Hearing Sophia Quinn’s plea, Chloe hesitated. It felt truly impossible to refuse them both.

’Ever since the Prescotts adopted me as their goddaughter, they’ve never once acted like typical elders. They’ve shown me nothing but love.’

’In that case, I should be good to them in return.’ "Alright, no problem," she said. "As long as I have time, I’ll come back every weekend to be with you. I’ll chat with Grandma and go shopping with Mom."
