Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable
Chapter 235: Everyone Sees Her Off Abroad
The next day was the day of departure. Everyone had come to see Chloe off—Evan Shaw, Wendy Winters, Sophia Quinn, Miss Prescott, the high school principal, her college classmates…
Chloe hadn’t expected so many people to show up.
“Chloe, I’m going to miss you so much! You’re my first friend from college, and my only one. With you going abroad, I’ll be all alone,” Wendy said, her voice full of reluctance as she hugged Chloe’s arm, refusing to let go.
“I’ll miss you too!” Chloe truly would. But thinking of Stella Winters, who was all alone abroad, she felt resolved. She had already asked the principal which school she was heading to—it was the exact same one Stella attended.
“It’s okay, I’ll slowly get used to it,” Wendy continued. “Make sure you take good care of yourself over there. Video call me often, okay? Don’t just forget about me the moment you leave the country.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.”
Wendy nodded. Her time for goodbyes was up, and there were still so many others waiting. However, she didn’t step away. Instead, she stood by Chloe’s side, listening to the others bid their farewells.
Evan stepped up to Chloe. “I’ll wait for you to come back. By the time you do, I’ll definitely have found a ton of great restaurants, and we can go eat there together.”
When foodie friends talked, it always came back to food. But undeniably, it was exactly what Chloe wanted to hear. “Deal. When I get back, I’ll be counting on you to take me to unlock more delicious spots.”
“Yeah! Have a safe trip,” Evan said, offering his blessings.
He had actually debated whether he should go abroad too. But if he did, even he would feel like he was being a nuisance. He had already followed Chloe to Southbend University. If she went overseas and he tagged along again, people would think he was some kind of creep who wouldn’t leave her alone.
“Thank you!” Chloe smiled.
“Chloe, this is the chef and maid I hired for you. She’ll take care of all your daily needs. You have to look after yourself over there!” Sophia hurriedly pulled a woman over to Chloe.
Looking at the woman’s pale face, Chloe was a bit puzzled. “What’s wrong with her?”
“Carsickness,” Sophia replied. She hadn’t expected Ethan Prescott to hire someone who got carsick. But the woman’s cooking skills were indeed excellent—Sophia had tasted her food—and she was quick and efficient. She would take good care of Chloe.
The maid smiled awkwardly, but even twitching her lips seemed to bring her immense discomfort. She quickly turned away and went to the side to throw up again.
“Alright, don’t worry, Mom. I got it. I’ll take good care of myself.”
“Chloe, Grandma is going to miss you so much!” Miss Prescott looked at Chloe, growing more reluctant by the second. How could her newly acquired, grown-up granddaughter be leaving the country so soon!
“Grandma, I’ll miss you too. But you have to take good care of your health and wait for me to come back.”
“Yes, yes, Grandma knows.”
Sophia linked her arm with Miss Prescott’s. “Chloe, rest assured, we know. If we miss you, we’ll just fly over to see you.”
“Okay!”
“Chloe, we’ll wait for you to come back,” her classmates chimed in. Chloe had saved their lives. In their hearts, she was family. So, they were genuinely sad to see her go.
“Goodbye! Just wait a few years, and I’ll be back,” Chloe said, waving her hand. The broadcast had sounded in the distance; it was time for her to board.
From a spot none of them noticed, Ethan Prescott was also watching Chloe.
So were Adrian and Willow Kane.
“She’s about to leave. Aren’t you going over to say hi? If you don’t do it now, who knows when you’ll see her again,” Willow asked, looking at her brother.
“I won’t go over. If she sees me, it’ll probably just ruin her mood, right?” Adrian still had some self-awareness.
“Sigh. Even now, I still don’t understand why Chloe hates us so much—why she hates you. I mean, Ethan Prescott is the same way, if not worse, and she hates him too. But she can still accept his mom and grandma. Why doesn’t it work for us?”
Adrian couldn’t explain it either, because he simply didn’t know. He had investigated multiple times but found nothing. He had genuinely never interacted with Chloe before, nor had he ever offended her.
“Forget it, I don’t get it. I’m heading back,” Willow said. “Nora has been throwing tantrums lately, demanding to play with Chloe. Plus, she’s acting more and more rebellious. She must be hitting her rebellious phase. I haven’t even dared to tell her that Chloe went abroad. I need to go back and keep an eye on her now.”
With that, Willow left. It took Adrian a long moment to process her words. “Rebellious phase?”
If he remembered correctly, his niece was only five or six years old. How was she already in a rebellious phase?
At the Yorks’ home.
“Ah, Chloe York has finally left the country. I feel so much better.” Knowing that Chloe was leaving today, Alice Cole had been in an incredibly good mood since morning.
“Mom, she’s gone abroad, but what about me?” Brooke York asked.
She was completely unable to attend school now, and going abroad was out of the question too. With a permanent stain on her record, there was nothing she could do.
Compared to Chloe, who was heading overseas, Brooke was plagued with anxiety. She wished she could force Chloe to return so she could go abroad instead.
“I’ve already spoken to your dad. We’re going to have you join the company.”
“Really?” Brooke’s eyes lit up at the news.
She had actually wanted to enter the company, as it was the only path left for her. Only by joining the business and achieving results could she salvage her reputation and dignity.
She was supposed to be the female protagonist, but now she was nothing, and even her system had run away.
So, she could only rely on herself.
“Yes. Since you can’t go to school anyway, we might as well put you straight into the company,” Alice said. “The business will be yours in the future regardless, so what’s the harm in starting early? Besides, your dad became a boss without any academic degrees. You are his daughter; you don’t need to be bound by the regular employee regulations or degree requirements.”
“Mom, thank you.”
“Why are you being so polite with your own mother?” Alice feigned anger.
“I’m not. It’s just that Chloe grew up by your and Dad’s side. Dad clearly doesn’t trust me; it’s like Chloe is more important to him. But to you, I’ve always been the most important. That’s why I want to thank you.”
“He’s as blind as a bat. Instead of doting on his own daughter, he fawns over an outsider. I’m not like him. If I’m going to shower someone with love, it will be my own daughter.”
“Yeah, Mom loves me the most.” Brooke nestled into Alice’s embrace, the smile never leaving her lips.
“Brooke, when you go to the company, make sure you learn everything thoroughly. You might just have to take over the business one day, and that will be your time to shine.”
“I know. I’ll definitely work hard.”
“Good. Mom believes in you too. You can definitely do it. You’ll carve out a place of your own in the company.”
