Chapter 1550: Chapter 277: Yearning

  • Next Chapter

Because of the golden armor, the physical ability of the little maid Arian has far surpassed those white-robed guards trained at the Temple… It didn’t take long to deliver the Magic Lamp from the Pharaoh’s Sleeping Palace to a place with a broad view.

In the Royal Palace’s watchtower, the little maid stood calmly with the Magic Lamp, while the Red Lamp Spirit lazily floated beside her.

All around were a few Royal Guards with tense expressions and trembling legs—they were responsible for observing the movements of the monsters from the watchtower and relaying messages to the Expeditionary Force and other guards.

The fear at this moment naturally stemmed from the presence of the Red Lamp Spirit brought by the little maid—they didn’t know, nor dared to ask.

Indeed, the situation was far more dire than imagined; the blackened Gates of the Behemoth had already surged to the city walls—from before, this would be the time when the Sun God’s protection would descend, shielding the entire City of the Sun, keeping threats blocked outside the inner border.

But now, because it wasn’t the longest night, the barrier hadn’t expanded, and they were simply relying on the city walls to resist… But they couldn’t hold for much longer!

The warriors of the Expeditionary Force were fighting bloodily atop the city walls—the monster’s assaults were exceptionally fierce, with smaller monsters even leaping over the walls and mixing into the City of the Sun.

Since Princess rang the big bell, the residents of Sun City frantically fled, pouring into the Royal Palace’s shelter… But there were simply too many people, far too many.

A few monsters already climbed into the City of the Sun, and at those moments, it was unknown how many lives they had devoured—monsters had never invaded the City of the Sun like this!

Every longest night, monsters would always be stopped by the Sun God’s protection outside the barrier—they had seen the fear and ferocity of monsters with their own eyes, but had never personally experienced the terror of them.

Until bodies got torn apart by monsters, heads bitten off… then, bodies turned into sand.

Sand—the deceased populace, transformed into sand in an instant.

This made them even more terrified… why would people turn into sand? It must be the monsters’ sorcery! A result of what the monsters caused… terrifying monsters.

“I don’t want to die…”

“Save me…”

“Don’t come near… monster—!!”

The sounds of screams echoed, not part of a war, but a one-sided… massacre.

“Lord Lamp God, is it really okay…” The little maid Arian looked worriedly, her gaze focused through the monocular left behind by Princess, clearly seeing everything happening within the city… even the events of people turning into sand after death.

At this moment, if the Red Lamp Spirit weren’t beside her, the little maid’s performance might not be much better than those fleeing citizens.

“How strange, they turn into sand after dying? What’s going on?” The Red Lamp Spirit didn’t care much about the situation in the City of the Sun, instead, it curiously observed the little maid: “You… what’s up with you all, why would the Magic Lamp acknowledge such… half-truth, half-false things.”

“Lamp God… Lord?”

The Red Lamp Spirit shook its head, then made a gesture of gazing, whistling: “The numbers are quite high… really hard for you all, managing to live in such dangerous places. These monsters are actually quite merciful to you… logically, perhaps not even one-tenth of this quantity could wipe out the City of the Sun back and forth several times, right?”

“There used to be the protection of the True God!” The little maid Arian said discontentedly: “It’s just that this time it hasn’t reached the longest night, and the monsters attacked prematurely!”

“True God?” The Red Lamp Spirit sneered with disdain, “Whether or not a ‘God,’ it’s hard to say.”

“Lord Lamp God! How could you…” The little maid Arian’s face was filled with panic—this went completely against the teachings she received since childhood.

“Let me show you what true power of a God is!” At this moment, the Red Lamp Spirit hummed twice, then soared directly into the air!

Above the Royal Palace, a red figure suddenly expanded, like the blazing sun… The Red Lamp Spirit raised both of its hands, and a scorching fireball appeared directly within its palms.

“Haven’t moved in a long time… hope they don’t all die too quickly, hahaha!!”

The flames were ablaze, and at this moment, the Red Lamp Spirit swung both hands, directly throwing out the fireball in hand… Rather than saying the two fireballs were thrown out, it would be more accurate to say they were shot, so quickly that they almost instantly shot towards the gathered monsters outside the city wall!

Boom boom boom boom—!!!

The launched fireball exploded instantly, and a blaze flashed, followed by a tremendous crashing sound… At the explosion site, the monster’s body easily shattered!

“Hahahaha!!! Such pleasure! Such pleasure!! Such pleasure!!”

Amidst the frenzied laughter of the Red Lamp Spirit, it continuously grabbed burning fireballs with its hands, persistently throwing them outside the City of the Sun—dozens, hundreds of fireballs now, like meteorite fragments broken upon hitting the earth, trailing fiery tails as they hit the ground!

The sound of explosions… explosions… explosions… in the frenzied laughter of the Red Lamp Spirit, the sounds roared like a tsunami, wildly assaulting people’s auditory senses!

The ground was shaking… the entire City of the Sun trembled due to the Red Lamp Spirit’s assault at this moment!

At the watchtower, several Royal Guards had already collapsed to the ground in shock—when had they ever seen such horrific power? Even the True God’s protection was just a gentle barrier, not this kind of destructive attack!

“Ms. Arian! This… who is this really?”

“Lord… Lord Lamp God!” The little maid Arian quickly replied: “Summoned by the Divine Artifact given by Princess!”

“Princess!” Several guards took a deep breath in surprise and nodded in unison: “No wonder! Princess is the Holy Maiden of the Temple! This must truly be the Sun God’s gift granting us protection against the monsters!”

The little maid blinked, she really didn’t know if the Divine Artifact was given by the Sun God, but this Red Lamp Spirit appeared not to get along with the True God?

Is this really the case… In the end, she still hasn’t figured out the origin of the Magic Lamp—better to ask thoroughly later!

At this moment, the Red Lamp Spirit was blissfully unaware that its achievements had been inexplicably attributed to the True God, reveling in the delight of incinerating the monsters.

It had truly been trapped within the Magic Lamp for far too long.

“Woman, let me show you the most brilliant fiery flower in the world!” The Red Lamp Spirit shouted loudly, and then simultaneously raised its hands!

A huge fireball began to form in the Red Lamp Spirit’s hands, then rising into midair, illuminating the entire area for thousands of meters around the City of the Sun like a sun in an instant!

Even on the ground, the heat of this “Sun” seemed palpable!

On the city wall, the soldiers of the Expeditionary Force, submerged in blood, unconsciously stopped their actions… In the city, the people rushing into the Royal Palace instinctively paused, raising their heads to look up at the daytime-like night sky!

Monsters… monsters seemed to sense danger, suddenly escalating their commotion!

And at that moment, the enormous “Sun” exploded instantaneously, and after the explosion, countless small fireballs scattered down—fiery flowers blossomed in the night sky!

Flames scorched the earth… they would never forget this apocalyptic scene!

Rumble, rumble, rumble, rumble, rumble, rumble, rumble——!!!

The sound of the explosion lasted for dozens of seconds——It might have taken decades to build Sun City, but destroying it seemed to take just those fleeting seconds!

When the sky above no longer rained down fireballs, the ground below, no longer had a single living monster walking — everywhere lay the corpses of these beasts.

Their bodies quickly turned into sand, just like the deceased residents…

Sun City was still bright at this moment, illuminated by the flames burning after the explosion — the firelight shining on the shattered streets, collapsed city walls, the Red Lamp Spirit descended onto the Watchtower of the Royal Palace with a look of comfort on his face.

Anyway… the monsters truly were all eradicated!

The little maid Arian shivered all of a sudden, her face turning red, and she excitedly grabbed the Red Lamp Spirit’s hand, “Lord Lamp God! You are truly amazing!”

In consideration of your sincere praise for this Lamp God, I won’t shake you off this time!

“I told you, don’t touch me! I hate women touching me!” The Red Lamp Spirit snorted coldly.

“Eh hehe…” The little maid quickly let go, then said happily, “Her Highness Princess will definitely be very happy! I must immediately inform her that all the monsters have been wiped out!”

“Go on, go on!” The Red Lamp Spirit waved his hand dismissively, though he thought it would be good to gradually get acquainted with this princess — to see what the Princess is all about, what she likes, so as to fulfill her first wish.

Hmph—what do women need to be happy, if not just a man?

Tch… women!

The Red Lamp Spirit had already planned to catch a man and cast a love spell on him to make him fall for the princess — of course, if the princess already had someone she liked, then it would be even easier!

“The Temple! Her Highness said she was going to find the High Priest or something!”

“Alright!” The Red Lamp Spirit immediately waved, and a decorative drapery flew over from a corner of the Royal Palace. He stepped onto it, “Come on, it’s faster this way!”

“Flying… we’re flying! We’re flying… ahhh —!”

In the final chamber, the sharp cries of the Hawk-Headed Humanoid Creature echoed — these cries seemed to transform when it saw Yamana, shackled in the flashing light, her abdomen stained red with blood.

Not only did the cries become sharper, but also filled with pain, anger… and mourning.

It suddenly lunged at the High Priest with a bitter gaze

The High Priest instinctively stepped back a little when meeting its blood-red eyes… inadvertently kicking The Scale of Good and Evil lying on the floor.

To his surprise, The Scale of Good and Evil moved slightly with his touch!

At this moment, the High Priest didn’t have the luxury to think about why the scale moved… He instinctively bent down to retrieve it!

However, a great force instantly pushed him toward the wall — the Pharaoh, or rather the Hawk-Headed Humanoid that the Pharaoh had become, grasped the High Priest by the throat, pressing him hard against the wall!

The impact made the High Priest feel as if all the bones in his body would break… while the blood-red eyes of the Hawk-Headed Humanoid remained fixated on him.

“Yamana… your daughter is not dead yet… this is just a body… that’s all…” The High Priest said with difficulty; “Wake… wake… up…”

Grasped roughly by the throat, he struggled to breathe, let alone speak.

Another sharp and forlorn cry rang out. The Hawk-Headed Humanoid raised its hand… its fingers clenched together like sharp thorns, directly piercing the High Priest’s chest and abdomen!

The High Priest’s eyes instantly filled with bloodshot lines due to the horrific pain… a mouthful of blood gushed out from his compressed throat!

The Hawk-Headed Humanoid suddenly withdrew its hand, then grabbed the High Priest’s arm, using his body like a hammer, relentlessly pounding it against the floor!

Again and again, the hard floor cracked under the repeated blows!

Finally, the Hawk-Headed Humanoid used all its strength for one last throw, smashing the High Priest’s body entirely into the floor… His body twisted, as if boneless, blood oozing from his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose, like a ragdoll.

After this, the Hawk-Headed Humanoid leapt in front of Yamana.

Its hands reached directly for the flashing light imprisoning Yamana… The glare was scorching, and the moment its hands touched, a searing sound emanated!

It intended to tear open these flashes, but the burn inflicted immense pain, causing it to scream in agony.

Blood dripped, drop by drop, until Yamana, hearing something, regained a trace of clarity amidst her fading consciousness.

Her vision returned from darkness, seeing a blur… a blur of blood.

Yamana struggled to lift her head, “Don’t do this… don’t you know, after the next reincarnation, all of this will come to pass again, I will still be Yamana, still your daughter… Everything you are doing right now is but… is but…”

It seemed not to hear, its hands desperately tearing at the light… Finally, a flash was torn open, but the Hawk-Headed Humanoid’s body was already scorched with countless wounds.

“Give it up… you are a part separated by the power of the scale… you can never defeat it…” Yamana’s voice was mournful, “I don’t know about you like this… I once longed so much for the outside world, even considered not returning, and even entrusted the admiration a daughter should have for her father to someone else, not you! Even so… Even such despicable me, is it worth… worth this?”

Its hands tore open another flash, but there were still dozens of flashes binding Yamana… Yet it seemed as if it had exhausted its strength, its hands dropping weakly.

“Yamana… Yamana…” It raised its head again, the beast-like it surpassed any of Yamana’s previous understanding of beasts — it spoke.

Suddenly, its hands grabbed the flash again, as if an endless power gushed from its body — this time, it effortlessly tore apart the solid flashes!

Flash after flash was torn away, and Yamana’s body gradually gained freedom…

——”Your wish.”

——”Power… the power to end it all! Even if… it turns me into a monster!”

——”Alright, Your Majesty.”
