Chapter 1665: Chapter 15: Undersea City Observations
Perhaps it’s the nature of a boy’s heart, or perhaps he hasn’t seen the treachery of human nature… or maybe for other reasons.
Reya quickly, with a small sense of curiosity, walked ahead to lead Luo Qiu and the maid, while briefly explaining some things about the Undersea City.
Like the civilization of Limoria, which once thrived on the mainland, but only after a heavenly calamity, the once glorious Limoria City had to undergo an immigration plan.
Back when Limoria civilization ruled the mainland, their nation’s distinguished individuals mastered a power called Magical Energy, and with it, Limoria civilization created many convenient tools.
The transportation tool Reya broke was called the Flywheel, which is an application of Magical Energy power.
“Besides us, have you ever heard of outsiders entering the Undersea City?” Boss Luo suddenly asked at this moment.
Reya shook his head, “I haven’t heard of it… If you want to know, I can inquire for you when I go back.”
According to Reya, in the Undersea City, he actually had the status of a Commoner, residing in East Thirteenth Street, far from the circle of Aristocrats… Commoners are not allowed to leave the Undersea City arbitrarily, and as for Reya sneaking out this time, it was to search outside for a mineral to modify his Flywheel.
“Soon, the new edition of the All-Star Flywheel competition is about to be held!” Reya said with longing, “If I can achieve a good ranking in the competition, I’ll have a chance to leave Thirteen Street, enter the imperial palace, and meet the Emperor.”
Reya did not explain the reason.
Boss Luo’s ability to make people speak didn’t adjust to the “firm” place.
After a simple exchange, they had walked through the long tunnel.
In front of them was an enormous basin, surrounded by towering rock walls like solid city walls, guarding the entire Undersea City with about 9 million Limoria People.
This number is officially counted… but it’s from ten years ago.
“Here we are, this is the Undersea City.” Reya stood at the cave’s exit, gazing at the whole Undersea City, “Welcome to my city!”
The city is not orderly, roads are mostly winding, and as for the architectural style, it can’t be found in the current society, like artworks created by bizarre sea shells — as for the center of the city, it stood a gigantic White Tower almost exceeding the basin height.
At the top of the White Tower, a beam of light shot straight out, maintaining the Undersea City from being submerged by seawater, eternally shining.
As for the imperial palace, it lied beneath the White Tower, the Undersea City Emperor ruled the Undersea City and was also the Guardian of the White Tower, having protected it for countless years, preventing the Sea Demon Clan’s invasion.
The Sea Demon Clan was descended from the left of the two gigantic statues at the Undersea City entrance.
Reya understood that the Sea Demon Clan once degraded willingly, becoming demons plundering everything in the deep sea, and was then expelled. But over the years, the Sea Demon Clan always wanted to invade the Undersea City and slaughter all Limoria People.
“Why do they want to slaughter the Undersea City residents?” Boss Luo curiously asked.
“I told you, they once betrayed the Undersea City, betrayed us.” Reya reasoned, “That’s why they were expelled! They must harbor resentment, so they want revenge on us!”
“Didn’t you just say they were punished because they degraded willingly?”
“Yes!” Reya nodded, “That’s what the books say.”
Boss Luo shook his head, “What I’m asking is, why does the Sea Demon Clan persistently want to invade the Undersea City… is there something here they want to obtain?”
Reya showed a puzzled expression, “Why… why? Is there a reason? When I was born, the Sea Demon Clan was already invading the Undersea City. Not only me, but when my father and grandfather were around, the Sea Demon Clan was already invading, it’s been like this for so many years?”
Boss Luo glanced at the maid.
The maid understood and opened her palm, revealing a blue diamond-shaped crystal, “This was picked up when we came in, it should have fallen off your Flywheel, returning it to you.”
“That’s the Flywheel’s Magical Energy Core!” Reya showed excitement, “Wow! Great! I can actually retrieve it! I was worrying about losing this core, I might need to take one from my dad’s Flywheel to assemble a new Flywheel for the All-Star competition! Thank you!”
“You’re welcome.” The maid smiled gently, then suddenly said, “Can we watch the assembly and manufacturing of the Flywheel?”
“Huh?” Reya looked astonished at these strange outsiders, thought for a moment, “This…”
“It’s fine if it’s inconvenient.” Boss Luo said casually.
“No, no, you helped retrieve the Magical Energy Core…” Reya bit his lip, “Originally, I should thank you a lot. How about this! You can come to my house first, how about it? I’ll entertain you well. Also, are you really people from outside? Can you tell me about the outside world?”
“Certainly.” Boss Luo nodded.
At this moment, Reya suddenly widened his eyes in amazement, “Huh, now I can smell the scent on you… strangely, this is clearly the scent of the Undersea City?”
Boss Luo smiled mysteriously.
Reya nodded, “Oh… follow me, it takes over an hour to reach my house! Hurry, the bus departs at the hour and half-hour, we can just catch a ride!”
Besides that, like artworks created by sea shells, in the entire Undersea City countless transparent pipelines also intersected — within the pipelines, some Flywheels, and larger transportation tools witHcapiTYtidge riding pots constantly traversed the pipelines.
Everywhere was the application of Magical Energy — within the Undersea City, Magical Energy completely replaced the role of electricity in the current human society, while Limoria People, also through Magical Energy, created many incredible tools.
With a population of nine million, the Undersea City is actually very small compared to the entire current human society.
But here lies the technology currently unknown to present human society… Boss Luo hasn’t seen the Undersea City’s weaponry yet, so doesn’t compare for the time being.
He and the maid followed behind Reya, and soon they passed the exit rock walls, landing on the streets, and boarded the bus heading towards East City District.
Before boarding, Luo Qiu glanced up at the gigantic White Tower in the center of the Undersea City
White as snow.
But he also saw countless twisted faces… they formed this supreme White Tower.
…
…
“What is this?”
“Camera.”
“What is this again?”
“Mobile phone, a communication tool.”
“What is this then?”
Reya’s curiosity about new things was quite strong. A journey of over an hour had passed unknowingly.
“We’ve arrived, this is my home!” Reya pointed to a flat two-story conch building and said.
Speaking of East Thirteenth Street, it is an area where commoners live… However, the commoners in the Undersea City still enjoy substantial social welfare.
From birth until adulthood, they can receive support from the Kingdom Government.
After becoming adults, employment is assigned based on the residents’ interests and specialties… There is no unemployment here, nor is there true poverty. Even ordinary residents like Reya have their own independent residences.
As an aside, Reya had moved out from home to live here. This house is for him alone—he merely applied for it, and the management office on East Street arranged his current residence almost immediately.
He welcomed Boss Luo and the Maid into his home, then quickly fetched two bottles of drinks.
“Sorry, sorry, the home is usually a bit messy with just me living here…” Reya said somewhat embarrassedly, “Usually no one comes to find me.”
The living room was already littered with various parts used to assemble a Flywheel, and it seemed that the other spaces in this two-story standalone house wouldn’t be much better than the living room.
Boss Luo casually picked up a magazine from the couch and glanced at it, “It seems you really care about Flywheel competitions… Do you want to become a professional Flywheel player?”
“Huh? No, no, no, my dream is to become a Flywheel Repairman.” Reya said at the time.
Boss Luo put down the magazine, “Then why are you participating in this Flywheel tournament?”
“Nothing much, just a bit curious.” Reya shook his head, then stood up, “By the way, do you want something to eat? Don’t worry, though it’s messy here, the dining room is still very clean… um, the kitchen too.”
“We’re not hungry,” Boss Luo smiled and said, “You can eat something first. If you start assembling the Flywheel, let her go over to observe, I’ll stay here and wait.”
Reya looked at Luo Qiu with some confusion, nodded unconsciously, didn’t ask much, and didn’t know what to ask—everything seemed natural… Luo Qiu seemed like an old friend he had known for many years.
Hmm, having a good friend visiting your home does indeed feel quite casual… doesn’t it?
“Then… feel free to make yourselves at home.” Reya left the living room somewhat bewildered.
At this time, Luo Qiu found a remote-like object on the chair, and after activating it, two columns suddenly extended from the wall in front, followed by a light screen flowing down like water.
“Looks like this is the ‘television’ here.” Luo Qiu called the Maid over to sit beside him, “There are quite a few channels.”
This appeared to be a faster way to understand the Undersea City… Anyway, there was nothing else to do.
Currently, on the light screen, it switched to a channel that seemed official, a woman in formal attire broadcasting something.
It was a speech by the Emperor of the Undersea City Kingdom—the speech seemed to be from yesterday.
The Emperor of the Undersea City Kingdom looked exceptionally young… For now, apart from slightly darker skin color, the Limoria People didn’t differ much from ordinary humans.
This was a speech targeting a victorious battle defending against the Sea Demon Clan’s invasion of the Limoria People.
The main content was about the Sea Demon Clan sending troops to invade a mining site in the Undersea City not long ago… The Emperor praised the warriors’ bravery in this battle and condemned the Sea Demon Clan’s despicability.
“…This is a great era. I, Louis XXXIX, the Undersea City Emperor, will surely lead my subjects to an even brighter future!”
“Thirty-ninth,” Boss Luo mused, “It seems the Limoria People’s lifespan is relatively long.”
The Maid quietly listened while beginning to take out some colored paper… She started folding paper cranes, and soon she had folded five.
Placing the paper cranes in her palm, the Maid blew air on them, causing them to instantaneously fly up and out the window of Reya’s home.
Gone off to gather intelligence.
“Master, this Emperor, resembles the statue of the character on the left at the Undersea City entrance.” The Maid suddenly smiled and said.
“After all, descendants of the initial Emperor,” Boss Luo casually remarked, “If they didn’t resemble each other, perhaps the process would be a bit complicated.”
The Maid chuckled softly; she knew her Master was speaking a small jest.
“I’ll go see if Reya needs any help.” The Maid stood up and left her seat.
Boss Luo switched the channel… There happened to be a program explaining the historical changes of the Undersea City, and he watched with great interest.
…
…
The White Tower in the Undersea City isn’t airtight. On the contrary, almost every floor has platforms that can be opened.
On a platform at about the halfway height.
A woman in white with a cold face is sitting cross-legged… eyes closed, though there’s a breeze, it isn’t chilling.
“Miss Qin, you should go back. You’ve been out for half the day.” At this moment, a young girl in a silver robe walked over… She came beside this white-clothed Miss Qin and said softly, “It’s lunch time, His Majesty asked me to invite you over.”
The white-clothed Miss Qin slowly opened her eyes, glanced at the silver-robed girl, and said indifferently, “I don’t remember agreeing to accompany him for lunch.”
“His Majesty said Miss Qin will agree.” The silver-robed girl smiled slightly, “Because His Majesty is the Emperor of this Undersea City, and Miss Qin, you are now His Majesty’s seemingly property.”
“Then let him wait.” Miss Qin closed her eyes again.
The silver-robed girl didn’t continue speaking and quietly stood by waiting. She waited for nearly two hours until Miss Qin reopened her eyes, “I’m tired.”
“Let me escort Miss Qin.” The silver-robed girl smiled, “Soon, Miss Qin’s wedding with His Majesty will be held; His Majesty ordered that I accompany Miss Qin at all times.”
“Suit yourself.”
Miss Qin stood up, and with each step, a crisp metallic clashing sound echoed… it turned out there were shackles on her ankles.
