Chapter 798: Chapter 411: Mutual Destruction
The tide of the battle instantly turned. He snatched the rock from Liu’er’s mother’s hand and rained blows down on her shoulder, arms, and thighs.
He was still thinking clearly; by targeting these specific areas, she could cripple the woman without killing her!
Shi Tou’s mother, however, couldn’t care less about holding back. Hearing her youngest son’s cries and uncertain of his condition, she wanted nothing more than for this wretched woman to drop dead. Pulling her arm back, she ruthlessly pummeled Liu’er’s mother in the chest.
From the moment Shi Tou’s mother charged forward to slap Liu’er’s mother, to Zhao Feng being thrown down, and finally to He joining the fray, only a brief moment had passed. The bystanders hadn’t reacted at first. By the time they processed what was happening, they realized both sides were fighting like their lives depended on it. The brawl was so vicious that people were too afraid to step in and break it up. Instead, they scattered in all directions to call for help.
By the time the men arrived, He and Shi Tou’s mother had beaten Liu’er’s mother until she was barely breathing.
Heipi had rushed back ahead of the others. Seeing Grandma Zhang brawling, he spun in frantic circles before sprinting home in a panic to fetch Juhua. In truth, his anxiety had muddled his judgment. He should have gone to the fields to fetch Huai Zi. What use was bringing Juhua to such a brutal fight?
By the time Juhua arrived on the scene, the women had already been pulled apart.
With disheveled hair and a face covered in blood, Liu’er’s mother leaned weakly against Granny Hua. She coughed incessantly and spat out two mouthfuls of blood, sending Granny Hua into a fit of terrified shrieks.
Shi Tou’s mother was also a complete mess. Her hair was tangled, her face was mottled with bruises, and her jaw was red, swollen, and bleeding from a knocked-out tooth. Clutching Zhao Feng tightly, she anxiously pleaded with Qingmu, "Qingmu, I’m afraid I have to trouble you. My Feng has a huge bump on his head. He needs to go to town right away so Doctor Qin can take a look. Feng, where does it hurt? Hush now, don’t cry!" She then snapped her head up and cursed at Liu’er’s mother, "You wretched hag, playing dead won’t save you! If anything happens to my Feng, I’ll take your grandson’s life to pay for it!"
Among the three combatants, only He remained completely unscathed. She turned to Shi Tou’s mother and said, "Ignore her. Getting Feng to town to see the doctor is what matters most. Qingmu, if you don’t have time, just have Uncle Liu take them."
Qingmu quickly replied, "I’ll go. I was just about to deliver some things to my uncle’s house anyway. Mrs. Zhao, I’ll head back and fetch the cart. Just follow along!" With that, he hurried off.
Juhua rushed to He’s side, anxiously looking her up and down. Grabbing her arm, she asked, "Mother, are you hurt? Mrs. Zhao, Feng hit his head. You need to hurry and find Yun Ying and Doctor Qin..."
Before she could finish her sentence, a large crowd surged toward them. Among the arrivals were Zhang Dashuan, Zhang Huai, Zhao San, Sun Jinshan, Sun Tiezhu, and Li Gengtian.
Seeing his mother beaten into such a miserable state, Sun Tiezhu instantly exploded in anger. "Which son of a bitch did this?"
His eyes scanned the crowd and immediately locked onto Shi Tou’s mother—the signs of a brawl on her were far too obvious to miss.
Meanwhile, Zhao San urgently peppered his wife with questions, demanding to know what had happened.
As a result, everyone began explaining the situation to their respective families. For the Sun Family, Granny Hua spoke up, since Liu’er’s mother was far too injured to utter a word. The matter wasn’t complicated, and it only took a few sentences to make the sequence of events clear.
When Sun Tiezhu and Sun Jinshan heard that He and Shi Tou’s mother had ganged up on Liu’er’s mother and beaten her until she coughed up blood, their tempers flared. Sun Tiezhu bellowed, "If anything happens to my mother, I’ll make you pay with your lives!"
Hearing his wife explain that Liu’er’s mother had shoved Zhao Feng down and injured his head, and listening to his young son’s hoarse, pained cries, Zhao San’s fury was equally explosive. His eyes bulged as he roared with murderous intent, "If anything happens to my Feng, I’ll slaughter your entire family!"
The onlookers shrank back in fear at such bloodthirsty threats. Village Chief Li Gengtian, however, maintained a stern, unmoving expression, making it impossible to read his thoughts.
Staring at the completely unblemished He, Sun Jinshan turned to Li Gengtian with a dark scowl. "Chief, you saw it all. Two people ganged up on one and beat her into this state. Is there any regard for the law left in their eyes? Chief, tell us, what should be done about this?"
Huai Zi noticed Sun Jinshan glaring at He and knew exactly what he was plotting. Without waiting for Li Gengtian to respond, he immediately stepped forward. "Everything happens for a reason. Do you dare repeat what she just said in front of everyone? Sun Tiezhu, if you dare say it, I dare to beat you half to death. We’ll have a fight right here in front of the whole village." He swept his gaze across the crowd. "Whoever dares to repeat those words, I’ll beat them into the ground. Chief, if someone said those things about your son, what would you do?"
Zhao San chimed in ferociously. "What else? What else could you do but greet them with a hard slap across the face? Huai Zi is right! If anyone dares to repeat the venom that spewed from this wretched woman’s mouth, I’ll smack them in the teeth right here and now."
Liu Ershun also happened to be passing by. After catching wind of what had happened, he turned a stern face toward Sun Tiezhu. "Your mother has already been beaten half to death. But if she were still perfectly fine, I’d march right up and beat her myself! Who told her to have such a venomous mouth? When did my Liu Family ever provoke you?"
