"I’d heard Zane was a professional racer and I’ve even seen videos of his old races, but getting to see him live today... I’m so excited I can barely contain myself!" Talia Mercer said, jumping with excitement.

Melody Monroe looked at the crowd ahead, then took out her phone and called Jasper Rockwell.

"Melody, are you here yet?"

"We’re here, at the entrance. Where are you?"

"Give me a minute."

The call ended. Melody Monroe looked around. ’Is Jasper nearby?’

"Melody!" A voice called out from nearby. Dressed in a racing suit and carrying a helmet, Jasper Rockwell walked over to them.

"I was just doing the final checks on my bike. Do you guys want to come take a look?"

"Sure."

"Follow me."

Jasper Rockwell led the group to the building he had just walked out of.

The building looked like a warehouse. But upon entering, they found it resembled a large motorcycle garage. All sorts of parts hung on the walls, and three motorcycles were parked inside.

"Zane Langdon!" Jasper Rockwell called out.

Zane Langdon, also dressed in a racing suit, emerged from behind one of the motorcycles.

"Wow!" Talia Mercer couldn’t help but gasp. "He’s so hot! I’m dying! I can’t—I think I’m running out of air."

Zane Langdon looked surprised to see Melody Monroe.

"Mr. Langdon, it’s been a while," Melody Monroe said, stepping forward to greet him.

"It’s been a while," Zane Langdon replied softly. He turned and glanced at Jasper Rockwell. ’She must be here to watch Jasper race.’

"Melody, come over here. Let me show you something. This is the bike I’m racing with today—it’s my favorite model. And that one’s Zane Langdon’s."

Melody Monroe looked at the two bikes before her. Jasper Rockwell’s was a flamboyant red, while Zane Langdon’s was a deep blue. Both were stunning.

"What’s that white one for?" Melody Monroe asked, pointing to another bike.

"That’s the backup bike. It’s in case something unexpected happens. If your bike breaks down, you’re forced to drop out of the race."

"Oh, I see," Melody Monroe said with a nod.

’She didn’t know the first thing about this world, but the videos Jasper usually shared looked incredibly cool.’

Jasper Rockwell pulled off his gloves, took a lollipop out from his suit, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth. He then walked over to a staff member inspecting the bikes.

"How’s it looking?"

"No problems at all, Young Master Rockwell! Here’s hoping you take home the Black Hawk Medal today!"

"Of course," Jasper Rockwell said, puffing out his chest. Three medals were already pinned to the left breast of his suit. Winning this next race would bring his total to six.

Zane Langdon, by contrast, had only a single medal on his suit. However, it seemed to be of much higher quality than Jasper’s—gold, and in the shape of a simple ring.

Jasper Rockwell had to collect six medals to qualify for the challenge match; a victory would allow him to obtain a medal like the one on Zane Langdon’s suit.

It took six of Jasper’s medals to trade for one of Zane’s.

When Zane Langdon had first shown him that medal, Jasper had truly felt outclassed.

’He’d always assumed racing was just a hobby for Zane Langdon, never expecting him to be some kind of hidden pro.’

"Later, make your entrance with me, okay? I’ll bring you along," Jasper Rockwell said to Melody Monroe.

"I’m allowed to go in with you?"

"Of course! Besides, making an entrance with you would be great for my image!" This was exactly the effect Jasper Rockwell wanted.

"Alright," Melody Monroe nodded.

Zane Langdon watched the two of them for a moment, then silently turned away.
