Chapter 548: They Are Two Completely Different People

"Dad!"

"Don’t call me Dad! I’m no father of yours!" Julian Fairchild immediately disowned him.

"Grandpa! Grandma!" Liam Fairchild wailed, clutching his backside as he ran upstairs.

Julian Fairchild glanced at Evan Fairchild and was about to speak, but Evan’s phone rang. Seeing it was Keith Coleman calling, Evan stood up and walked outside.

Julian Fairchild watched Evan from a distance, his brows furrowing tighter and tighter as he wondered what his brother was thinking.

"I understand. You handle the rest."

"President Fairchild, I really thought we were going to make the official announcement today."

"No rush." Evan Fairchild knew what Melody Monroe was worried about.

’Her accepting me from the bottom of her heart is what truly matters.’

’Whether we make it official or not isn’t that important.’

’Besides, once the Fairchild Family finds out about Melody and Ian, their private world will probably be shattered.’

Evan Fairchild walked back and sat down again.

Keith Coleman’s words suddenly came to mind.

’Melody knows hypnosis?’

"What are you thinking about? You’re so lost in thought."

Evan Fairchild looked up. He started to speak, but stopped, the words dying on his lips. It seemed he needed to consider how best to phrase what he wanted to say.

"Tell me, do you think it’s possible that someone isn’t... the same person they once were? That the ’before’ and ’after’ versions are actually two completely different individuals?"

Julian Fairchild’s brow furrowed even deeper. "Can you state your question more simply?"

"For example, is it possible that I’m not the me I used to be? That the old me has completely vanished from this world, and the one standing before you now is someone else entirely."

"What, like a soul possessing a dead body?"

"In a broad sense, you could understand it that way."

"You’re still you. I could tell from how hard you hit my son."

"You don’t believe me." Evan Fairchild didn’t want to say any more. No matter who he told, no one would be able to understand what he was thinking.

But he just felt that Melody was like a completely different person compared to before.

No, she *was* two completely different people!

"Evan, how are you getting along with Melody Monroe’s child?" Julian Fairchild was genuinely afraid that Evan would end up hitting the boy.

After all, he’d been harsh enough to strike his own nephew.

"Compared to you and your son, we get along quite pleasantly."

Julian Fairchild was speechless.

’Fine,’ he thought, ’I’ll just pretend I never asked.’

...

After returning from Rockwellburg, Melody Monroe didn’t go back to Jansburg. Instead, she rushed to Argent to attend the Golden Orchid Award gala.

Keith Coleman had already arranged everything.

As soon as she arrived at the hotel arranged for her in Argent, Asher Archer was already waiting.

He would be personally styling Melody. With his touch, she was sure to outshine everyone there.

...

Online, all was quiet. Not a single piece of information had been leaked.

Rose Shaw knew that even though Evan Fairchild wouldn’t be there, he would have made comprehensive arrangements for Melody Monroe’s attendance at the gala.

The incident hadn’t caused any public outcry, but since it had happened at such a public event, many people had still found out about it through the Sheffield Family’s connections.

They were probably already gossiping about it in private.

This matter probably wouldn’t be resolved so easily.

Rose Shaw glanced at the address saved on her phone, then put it away, grabbed her car keys, and left.

She parked her car in front of a villa. Carrying a gift she had just bought, Rose Shaw walked up and rang the doorbell.

"Hello, I’m Rose Shaw. I’m here to see Ian."

"Oh, it’s Miss Shaw. Please, come in." Auntie Lana welcomed Rose Shaw inside. "You’ll have to wait just a little while, Miss Shaw. Master Hale is still in his lesson. He has another fifteen minutes."
