Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 783: Off to Find the Beauty
Ethan Hawthorne took a walk outside, which helped calm his agitation. He made a decision: he would take the initiative and find Goldie Thorne. Quinn Chandler wouldn’t give him much time, so he needed to partner up with Goldie Thorne as soon as possible.
However, he found out that Goldie Thorne wasn’t in Tristone at the moment. His men said Goldie had returned to his hometown, which meant Ethan would have to go to Millstone Peak to find him.
He could also take the opportunity to see how his wife and son were doing. He hadn’t seen them in over four years. ‘I wonder how they’re getting on?’
‘With the Thorne family’s protection, plus the money and grain coupons I left them, they should be safe in a quiet little village like Millstone Peak.’
Adrian Hawthorne and Goldie Thorne had both returned to Vessaria. A new shipment of goods had arrived, mostly consisting of things like televisions and tape recorders.
“So, when are you meeting with your dad? I just got off the phone. He’s getting really antsy; he went and asked about it again yesterday,” Goldie Thorne asked.
Adrian Hawthorne gave a cold, silent laugh. “Let him stew.”
He would make a point of not seeing him.
He wanted his father to get a taste of what it was like to wait and worry.
He and his mother had waited for over four years without so much as a word from the man. Now, he was only making his father wait a few months.
Goldie Thorne shrugged, having no intention of getting involved in the family drama between this father and son. ‘If he doesn’t want to see him, he doesn’t have to. It’s not my dad, after all.’ Besides, he also thought Ethan Hawthorne was a real piece of work. It would do the man good to be left hanging for a while.
After starving himself for two days, the Mad Lord had successfully trimmed down his stomach. Although he was so hungry he was seeing stars, his potbelly was indeed much flatter, and he even looked more energetic. The Mad Lord was very satisfied with this result and rewarded himself with a zongzi.
“Get ready. We’re going to Millstone Peak.”
The Mad Lord ordered Will. It was time to see his beauty.
“What’s there to prepare? We can leave for Millstone Peak anytime,” Will said, confused. He earned a sharp rap on the head for his trouble, a pain that seemed to pierce right through his skull.
“Shouldn’t we bring a gift for our first visit?” the Mad Lord shot back, rolling his eyes. ‘This idiot is impossibly stupid.’
It dawned on Will, and he dashed out of the room. An hour later, he returned carrying a large bag of gifts: cigarettes, fine wine, pastries, and candy—all top-shelf stuff.
The Mad Lord was still a bit regretful. ‘Since our relationship isn’t official yet, it wouldn’t be right to give gifts that are too forward. I’d much rather give my beauty jewels and fine clothes. How can a woman like Rosalind Green wear such plain things? It’s a total waste of her stunning looks.’
‘There’ll be plenty of opportunities later. This time, I’ll just make an introductory visit. Then I can start visiting her regularly.’
The Mad Lord was even considering buying a house in Vessaria to make it easier for him and his beauty to go on dates.
And so, the Mad Lord and Will set off on their journey to Millstone Peak. Along the way, they encountered a gaunt, sleazy-looking man—at least, that was the Mad Lord’s impression of him. It was none other than Vernon Spann.
“Boss, it looks like that guy is heading to Millstone Peak, too. Should I go ask him?” Will whispered.
The Mad Lord gave a slight nod. Will went over and struck up a conversation with Vernon Spann. Will was a social butterfly with a silver tongue who could chat about anything under the sun, and he and Vernon were soon talking animatedly. However, Vernon was tight-lipped, only saying that he was going back to Aeridor Village to visit relatives and refusing to divulge anything else.
“You’re visiting relatives in Millstone Peak?” Vernon Spann inquired curiously.
Both the Mad Lord and Will had southern accents, and Vernon couldn’t for the life of him think of any family in Millstone Peak with relatives from the south.
“Yeah, visiting relatives,” Will said, refusing to elaborate.
The three of them walked on slowly until they reached Aeridor Village, where they parted ways. Vernon Spann didn’t dare return to Millstone Peak; he’d have nowhere to stay. With Phoenix Golding dead, the Golding family certainly wouldn’t take him in. He planned to find a former lover in Aeridor Village to crash with for the night. Once he completed the task Jacqueline Spann had given him, he could head back to Tristone.
The Mad Lord and Will didn’t reach Millstone Peak until the afternoon. At the village entrance, they ran into Jim Thorne, who was busy catching loaches in the mud.
