SERIAL/HERBERT

"Vivian!"

Serial rushed through another sector of the massive grav-ship, his eyes sweeping across every corridor.

Students were everywhere.

Some were helping the injured. Others were searching for their teammates. Soldiers were shouting orders as they tried to restore control of the ship.

But Vivian was nowhere. Serial turned another corner.

Nothing. He was scared that something had happened to her. But a part of him believes if she is with Mimi, she is safe. But Mimi is in her storage ring. How can he help her?

He hurried into the next sector, his expression growing darker.

Then he spotted Arin. "Arin!"

She immediately turned toward him. "Where is my Princess? I CAN’T contact her."

Serial stopped. "I... have no idea. I am..."

Arin’s eyes widened. "You have no idea?"

Serial shook his head. "I’ve been looking for her since the ship was attacked. But she is safe, I am sure."

Arin’s expression hardened. "I left her with you thinking you are reliable. You’re in her team, but you can’t even take care of her?"

Serial was speechless. I...

Arin said. "You want to be her Beast husband? when you can’t properly take care of her. My lady...is a princess, not an ordinary female for you to think about.."

Before he could answer, Arin turned and marched toward the restroom.

Serial followed. "Arin, wait...."

She stopped at the entrance. "Where is her bag?"

Serial quickly handed it to her.

Arin took it.

The moment she held Vivian’s bag against her chest, her eyes became wet. "What if she lost her way?" she whispered.

Serial frowned.

Arin clenched the backpack. "Vivian really doesn’t know her way around. It’s always hard for her. With that brain of hers. I am sure she has lost her way."

Her voice trembled. "I hope she’s safe in all this commotion."

Serial’s expression softened. He wondered why she didn’t think Vivian may have lost her life but instead she said Lost her way?.

He said. "Don’t worry. I’ll find her."

Arin nodded slowly. Then a voice came from behind them. "With her Zero-Class strength, she should be dead by now."

Arin froze. She slowly turned around. "What did you just say?"

Herbert’s eyes darted around. "I... I said..."

He swallowed.

"With her Zero-Class strength, she should be dead by...."

BAM! Arin kicked him with tremendous force.

Herbert flew across the corridor and slammed into the wall.

Everyone nearby turned to look.

Herbert slid down the wall, stunned.

Arin calmly adjusted her clothes. "Next time, watch your mouth."

Then she turned and walked away. Herbert slowly stood. "That kick was hard..."

He rubbed his side. "Why is she so mean? Not like I said something wrong."

He looked at Serial. "What’s her rank?"

Serial answered casually. "S..Class Guide."

Herbert’s mouth dropped open. "WHAT?!"

He stared in the direction Arin had disappeared. "An S-Class Guide is a slave to a Zero-Class?!"

He looked genuinely horrified. "Is her brain alright?"

Serial sighed. "Just keep walking."

The two continued through the ship. They eventually reached the Mecha Department.

Serial immediately began asking the students nearby.

"Have you seen Vivian Valen? The Fox girl that trended on the school forum recently?"

A female student shook her head. "No."

Another simply ignored him. Serial tried again.

"Have you seen a young female soldier with...long black hair..."

"Sorry, I haven’t."

Nobody seemed to know where Vivian had gone.

Then another male student approached them. "Have either of you seen Ina Federick?"

The female student immediately looked at him. "Ina?"

She lowered her voice.

"She usually goes around with her soldier guards and Guides. What will happen to her?"

The girl shook her head. "You should be thinking about yourselves. Not a female with power to survive. If everyone in this ship dies. She definitely wouldn’t. "

Herbert leaned closer to Serial. "Are you sure Ina hasn’t gone after Vivian?"

Serial didn’t answer. His eyes had suddenly stopped moving.

A few meters away...Were Bodies of Students.

Some were lying motionless on the floor.

Serial’s heart tightened.

He walked toward them.

His breathing became heavier.

Please.

He closed his eyes. Then slowly opened one.

Not Vivian. He opened the other.

Still not her. He moved to another body.

Not her. Another. Still not her.

Serial finally released the breath trapped in his chest. "She isn’t here."

Herbert also looked relieved.

Then.. "Are you looking for Vivian?" Both of them turned.

Instructor Vincent stood behind them. Serial and Herbert immediately saluted. "Commander. "

Vincent nodded. His expression remained calm. "I sent her on a mission."

Serial blinked. "A mission?"

"Yes."

Vincent folded his arms. "So don’t bother looking for her."

Serial and Herbert exchanged glances. Both released a deep sigh of relief. At least Vivian was alive.

Then Vincent continued. "I want you guys to also join the search for one of the missing students."

Serial’s expression changed. "Who?"

Vincent looked directly at him. "Ina Federick."

Serial’s face stiffened. Vincent continued. "I heard she’s from the Federick family."

Serial nodded slowly. "She is."

"I also heard she was your former fiancée."

Serial nodded again.

Vincent’s eyes narrowed slightly. "She is missing."

He paused. "Her Guides are missing too."

Serial’s heart sank. "And the family soldiers who accompanied her?"

"Missing." Vincent continued. "You know how the Federick family behaves. They will surely cause trouble if she dies in this mission. I am glad she isn’t in my team but the Mecha team. My own duty is for you all to be safe."

Before Serial could respond, a soldier hurried toward them.

The soldier stopped in front of Vincent and immediately saluted.

"Commander!"

Vincent straightened.

"Report."

The soldier took a deep breath.

"190 students rescued."

He paused.

"60 confirmed dead."

Serial’s expression turned pale.

"50 students are still missing."

Silence fell over the corridor.

Vincent’s eyes darkened. "Hmm...this is a great loss. We are not in Ignora yet and some students are missing or dead. What do we tell their parents that the student died on the ship, not even during the mission."

Serial clenched his fists. "Where is Ina if Vivian is saved?"
