Chapter 204: A Resolve to kill a Human!

‘Resonant String!’

Even under the relentless assault of dozens of hidden monsters, Soren’s breathing remained calm and steady as if he were merely practicing at a shooting range.

In fact, he was so fast and precise that he even shot down another wolf attacking Aurelia’s barrier.

*Bang!*

The arrow pierced through the wolf’s eye the instant it emerged from invisibility.

The beast didn’t even have time to react before its body crashed against Aurelia’s barrier and slid lifelessly to the ground.

Before long, more and more monster corpses stained the ground red, making the tunnel appear increasingly eerie.

Streams of blood slowly spread across the uneven stone floor, reflecting the faint glow of mana from the hunters’ skills.

Corpses littered the path behind them, yet the attacks showed no signs of stopping.

If anything, the monsters seemed to be growing more desperate.

The silence still prevailed.

Not a single cry escaped the monsters.

Not a single growl.

Not even the sound of flesh being torn apart.

The entire battle unfolded in complete silence, making the scene feel all the more unsettling.

But this seemed to have made the Echo Lurker even more enraged as it began focusing entirely on Soren instead.

The air around him felt heavier than before.

Even the shadows seemed to shift their attention, as if the entire tunnel itself had recognized him as the primary threat.

As if it had marked him as the first target to eliminate. To be honest, judging by the number of beasts under its command, Soren already suspected there was more than one Echo Lurker lurking in the area.

“Soren!”

The situation abruptly shifted on the battlefield as everyone saw ten shadows emerge and surround Soren, attacking him relentlessly.

The ground beneath his feet cracked slightly with each impact that narrowly missed him.

Every strike came from a blind angle, forcing even a split-second delay to feel like a death sentence.

Although Soren was dodging with incredibly nimble footwork and firing back without breaking a sweat, he was still being pushed further away, gradually separating from the team.

His figure blurred in and out of the dim light as he retreated step by step, always just narrowly avoiding contact.

Seeing this, Sylvia cried out in alarm, only to realize that the silence still prevailed. In fact, this was the same for everyone.

Unnerved, Evan, Aurelia, Sylvia, Aria, and the twin sisters all tried to rush in to rescue Soren when his voice echoed once again.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine. I have a plan. Evan, make sure they stay safe. Just follow the formation. These low-level monsters can’t do anything to me.”

The voice came through the thin blue string floating in front of them, cutting through the silence.

Even now, his tone remained calm, almost detached from the chaos unfolding around him.

As he said, he was someone who had killed monsters above level 60 when he wasn’t even level 40. These low-level creatures were nothing to him.

The only reason he was being pushed back was to lure out the ones who had been watching him all this time.

The deeper he moved into the shadowed corridor, the more he could feel five gazes locking onto him, waiting silently to hunt, like hunters preparing for the perfect moment to strike.

‘Now then… will you take the bait?’

But Soren only smirked slightly as he found himself at a distance where his teammates couldn’t see.

To be honest, he already knew that someone would come after his life in this dungeon clearance.

Although he still didn’t know whether the people belonged to Kairon or Darius, that didn’t matter.

Rather, he had been waiting for them from the moment they got on his tail, and he noticed them through his Resonant String.

‘Sigh…Can I… do it?’

But that wasn’t the only reason why he was laying out such a convoluted stage. It wasn’t like he needed to ambush them or anything.

In fact, truth be told, the moment Soren evolved his Keen Sight, he could see even the Echo Lurker in this Silent Domain. Let alone those assassins hiding in the shadows waiting to strike.

With the Rogue class skills he had gained from Elise, getting behind them before they could react and removing their heads from their necks was an easy thing.

Not to mention his evolved state. To be honest, his enemies were pathetically weak, so weak that they didn’t even realize they were being watched by their prey from the very beginning.

The only thing that was different here was…

‘They are human…’

Soren’s fingers trembled ever so slightly at that thought, his arrow missing its mark and getting swiped by a claw in an instant.

Fortunately, he dodged in time, and his Crimson Queen Lash saved him from any injuries. But it seemed the monsters saw it as an opening, as they came at him from above, below, and the sides, everywhere, intending to tear him apart with force.

In an instant, he was surrounded, forced to dodge each strike with high agility, teetering between life and death.

In an intense fight, one moment of carelessness was all it took to see the door of death. Soren’s condition wasn’t different.

Just, even then, he wasn’t paying much attention to the monsters. Rather, he was thinking about whether he could kill a human.

Well, he would definitely do that today, as those assassins were after his life. But he was unsure whether he could remain as nonchalant as he was when killing monsters after that.

After all, Soren, in essence, wasn’t from this world. He was someone who had transmigrated into this world recently.

He was from Earth, after all, and had lived a very uneventful and lawful life.

So, Soren was conflicted about whether he could really take the life of another human.

He did say big things about killing Professor Ruther and Senior Kairon, but inside, he knew he was conflicted, so much so that he distanced himself from his team so they wouldn’t see his hesitation.

‘Sigh… I have to do this one day, no matter what. Things will only get more dangerous from here on. Let’s take this chance to… train with them.’

That’s what Soren thought after sensing those assassins.
