Chapter 1269 - 505: Clearing the Clouds and Dispersing the Mist

Simon is quite interested in this city. Ever since he got the intel about it from Alka, he’s been intrigued.

As he strolled around the city, Juanlu accompanied him.

Primarily because Juanlu wasn’t particularly interested in the city; he just wanted to take a walk.

After all, the city’s environment is such that it’s hard to find distinctive ingredients here, with most of the food sourced from the surrounding seas through fish fishing.

"What are you looking at?" Juanlu wandered through the shops around and suddenly noticed Simon standing at a certain spot, gazing at a mass of densely clouded sky.

"Boom!"

Once again, there was a rumble of thunder and lightning, as a thick bolt slashed downward.

At the center of the cloud mass was an extremely slender, tall tower, and the lightning struck its position, instantly splitting into two.

Most of it diverted to the tower and was channeled into it, probably treated as energy, while a tiny branch landed on the church’s rooftop.

Clearly.

In this Power City, people don’t only use elements as consolidated energy, as the intel mentioned, but often treat the lightning elements in the sky as their power source.

"What do you think?" Simon asked, staring at the clouds above.

Upon hearing his words, Juanlu gave Simon a curious glance, wondering what Simon could possibly think.

Nevertheless, he replied, "Quite interesting, isn’t it? I didn’t expect a city like this. Staying in such an environment is a bit uncomfortable, though."

Juanlu rubbed his arm as he spoke, for the hair stood on end and his skin tingled mildly with every lightning strike.

Like Alka and the others, the respiration brought an uncomfortable scratchy sensation through the throat.

"Very rough." Simon remarked, looking at the lightning overhead.

"Rough?" Juanlu didn’t understand these things, but he thought the structure was quite interesting.

Simon nodded, "Too rough, which causes the lightning elements here to be overly active.

And even collecting them wouldn’t hold much significance."

Saying this, a metal instrument appeared in Simon’s hand, with a rotating dial on top. After gauging with the instrument for a while, he shook his head.

"The elements here are already overcharged. The cloud above, along with the thunder element gathered inside, has severely affected here.

The city’s leaders might be having headaches over the cloud and the lightning it brings."

As Simon spoke, Juanlu nodded with semi-comprehension.

However, the tingling sensation on his skin made him quite uncomfortable, so he reached into his Space Ring and pulled out a simple sandwich.

Golden liquid transformed into gloves, grasping the sandwich as Magic Power flowed into it through the gloves.

He then divided it in two, handing one half to Simon.

"What is this?"

Simon asked as he took the offered half of the sandwich.

"Food, of course. The fish slices inside are freshly caught this morning, should be local fish. It can construct a certain circulation function for lightning when activated."

Upon hearing this, Simon ate the sandwich.

The sandwich’s sublimation brought about a special effect, making the thunder elements on the body no longer feel scratchy, and the throat sensation dissipated.

"Resistance to thunder elements?"

Hearing Simon’s question, Juanlu nodded.

"This morning’s experimental piece wasn’t made with the Chef’s Set, so now I’m temporarily sublimating using gloves. The effect isn’t strong, but it’s sufficient to prevent these discomforting active thunder elements."

Juanlu wouldn’t use the Chef’s Set when creating new dishes because the sublimations’ flavor would mask any flaws in common dishes.

This prevented him from discovering his new dishes’ flavors and achieving their perfect taste.

Simon strongly agreed with this statement and nodded in approval.

Then Juanlu turned around, "Friend, you’ve been watching us for a while, and listening for quite some time; is there something you want?"

Beside a nearby stall, a man in a flat hat had been keeping his ear to their conversation.

Hearing Juanlu, he raised his head, unabashedly smiled at them, and took a few steps closer.

"You two must be members of Compass Eye, right?" He said, looking at Simon, "And you must be Master Simon?"

The exposed palms of Simon’s hands were clearly metal-constructed, making this his most distinct identity marker.

If one knew their team in detail, it would be easy to discern.

Although Simon could shape the metal palms to look no different from a normal person, he obviously wasn’t interested in such modifications.

Upon hearing the stranger’s words, the two just stared at him.

Looking at their gaze, the stranger smiled, extending his hand, "I’m Fitz, a member of the Power Council of Power City."

The Power Council is essentially the city government.

Being a council member, he was one of the city’s leaders, able to offer opinions and votes on city affairs.

There are only a few council members in this small city.

The two didn’t pay much heed to the stranger, and Juanlu reached out to shake his hand.

This stranger probably saw Alka and the Dawn of Sound in the port.

Hence, he surely intended to keep an eye on those alighting from the ship.

Fitz smiled and said, "Are you two interested in visiting the Central Thunder Tower?"
