Chapter 1305 - 517: The Slaughtered Island

The port echoed with a low, muffled sound.

All kinds of machinery were running, and the silhouettes of stevedores were busy at the harbor.

The black curtain of the sky was suddenly torn open, revealing daytime. The switch from black to white was so fast.

Even though everyone was already used to it, they would still squint a little at this moment, needing a brief while to adjust.

Akka and the others woke from their sleep as well.

Today, everyone would act freely as usual, while Akka himself needed to head to the Holy Mother Church halfway up the mountain.

"Wait, I’ll go with you."

Jason hurried over and said quickly.

After all, Jason also believed in the Holy Mother; he wanted to see what this place’s Holy Mother Cathedral had been built into.

Akka nodded. Lucilia, sitting on his shoulder, pulled Chadite along as they walked off the ship together.

They passed through the streets and made their way to the foot of the mountain.

Steps between the rocks stretched upward one by one, winding and twisting.

Early on, they saw some devotees of the Holy Mother carrying out their mountain-climbing ritual.

Akka and the others stepped onto the stairs, walking upward.

Around them were ordinary woods, until they wound past all kinds of rises and places that blocked the view, continuing their ascent.

What they saw was a vast golden wheat field halfway up the mountain, stretching toward the distance; at the top of the field they saw the Holy Mother Cathedral built on a sunken platform.

The statue of the Holy Mother stood in front of the church, so strikingly conspicuous.

Akka and the others followed along.

They climbed the steps and, together with the surrounding believers, walked toward the church.

They soon passed through the wheat field and reached the platform.

Looking at the Holy Mother’s statue before them.

Everyone silently intertwined their hands and offered a brief prayer.

Then they entered the worship hall in front.

Quite a few believers had already taken their seats one after another.

Akka and the others sat in the back.

The first prayer of the morning did not last long; it only took about ten minutes or so.

Aside from a few devout believers, most of those who had come up in the first group began leaving one after another.

A Priest in a church robe came to stand before them.

"My lords, please come with me."

Akka and the others nodded and followed behind him.

They passed through a small side door and came to the back. There they could see another wheat field, not as wide, but the ears of wheat here looked even more golden.

One could feel that these wheat stalks were not ordinary wheat; upon them one could sense the breath of the Holy Mother.

At the edge of the wheat field stood a stone table.

Beside the stone table, a Knight in heavy Armor was propping his chin up, waiting there, bored out of his mind.

Next to him was a young Priest, seemingly chatting idly with him.

Then they saw Akka and the others and stood up.

"You’re Akka, right? A pleasure. You’re a bit different from how I imagined." The middle-aged Knight looked at Akka, smiling as he reached out his hand.

He finally shook hands with Akka. "My name is Roske. I’m temporarily in charge of this church."

A Knight managing a church—Akka nodded in some puzzlement.

Generally, a Great Cathedral like this would have an Archbishop, basically stationed here at all times to preside over local affairs.

After all, the area covered by a Great Cathedral is very large; a wide region’s affairs are handled by the Great Cathedral.

"This is Gadri, Saint of the Holy Mother."

Hearing this introduction, Gadri looked at Akka and gave a nod in greeting.

Then Akka briefly introduced Chadite and the others. Everyone took their seats around the stone table, as a breeze brushed through the wheat field, bringing a rustling sound and the scent of grain.

Akka blinked, taking a closer look at the Knight named Roske; his strength had actually reached the Initial Tier of the Eighth Stage.

That was already enough to be fully called a powerhouse, one capable of Ascension to Divinity. Yet the gleams on his body were three golden and one orange. Clearly, he was still short one Scepter Level Treasure and one Crown Level Treasure.

What puzzled Akka, however, was that someone of such strength had not gone to the World Scar; that was rather strange.

Roske’s Pocket Ring flashed, and a small box appeared in his hand; he then set it on the table and pushed it before Akka.

"Inside are the coordinates of Trial Island and the token to be shown to the Guard Knight stationed there. You must keep it safe."

Akka opened the lid and looked at the contents inside. Once he was sure there was no mistake, he nodded and put the box away.

Thus, the main purpose of their coming here was considered fulfilled.

With the main purpose fulfilled, Akka looked at Roske before him and asked, "May I ask if there is any latest news about the World Scar?

We’ve been sailing at sea all this time, with basically no channel to obtain information, so we’d like to know."

Hearing Akka’s words, Roske nodded, then turned to look at Gadri beside him.

Gadri looked at Akka and said, "The information we have on hand is somewhat out of date. As for the newest news, if possible, you can wait a little; it’ll be delivered shortly."

As he spoke, he glanced at the Hourglass Timer in his hand to confirm the time.

Hearing this, Akka nodded. If it was only a short wait, there was no need to rush.

"I heard you killed the Son of the Sea God, Nargal? Is that true?" Roske suddenly asked.

At these words, Akka and the others were somewhat stunned. After all, the Island where they killed Narros was extremely hidden—he had chosen it himself, after all.
