If this were some proper Race, they really might make such a sacrifice—but the problem is, these are Demons.

Chaos, recklessness, selfishness and self-interest are Their nature, and the Demon in front of him was even more so.

Alka did not believe for a second that he would sacrifice himself for another, becoming bait.

Covered in grievous wounds, the Devouring Mouth, who was almost on the brink of death, suddenly revealed a smile.

"Cough, cough, hahahaha, you’re about to die by my hand. I’ll tear your body and soul into pieces, right in front of everyone.

My humiliation will be washed away at this moment, hahahaha."

The Devouring Mouth laughed, laughing madly.

It was obvious that the backup he had prepared for himself could now be used.

Yet strangely, Alka did not seize the moment to rush forward and finish off the Devouring Mouth. Clearly, the Devouring Mouth was now preparing to let Alka come up and kill him, and at the very instant he was "killed," restore and enhance his strength back to his true level, giving Alka a "surprise."

After coughing twice, the Devouring Mouth looked at Alka in puzzlement.

"Why didn’t you take this chance to finish me off? This might be your only chance."

Alka merely smiled: "Why don’t you show me instead?"

The Devouring Mouth frowned.

His hand trembled as he reached it out, then suddenly his eyes widened.

Panic, terror, confusion surged in his eyes.

Everything was flowing across his gaze.

He had never lost his composure like this before; his expression was panicked, bordering on madness.

"Impossible? This is impossible? What’s going on, why? Farol! You damned..."

At this moment the Devouring Mouth almost lost his mind. He thought Farol had tampered with things, causing him to lose the Abyss Core at this critical moment.

However, before he could finish speaking, he saw what was in Alka’s hand.

It was a spherical object wrapped in a transparent Mirror.

Inside, a dense Abyss aura was radiating out.

It was precisely the Abyss Core that had originally belonged to him, the one he had hidden inside his body.

But at some unknown point it had appeared in Alka’s hand.

"So this is your final trump card, your last reliance?" Alka looked at the thing in his hand, turned his head to stare at the Devouring Mouth, and said with a smile.

"Give it back, give it back to me now!" The Devouring Mouth was on the verge of madness.

Seeing him like this, Alka suddenly felt it was boring.

"The opponent who once put me in a bind has become like this? Why not let yourself exit with a shred of dignity at the end?"

Alka’s words seemed to jolt him awake, or maybe not.

The Devouring Mouth gradually calmed down.

He leaned against the original stone pillar and looked up at the sky.

Then he lowered his head again to stare at Alka.

"When did you take it?"

"Did you ever notice your soul being tampered with? Something left inside your soul, hidden very deep. It has only one purpose—to make you lose focus for one second.

But that one second is all I need."

Hearing Alka’s reminder, the Devouring Mouth immediately understood.

What he thought of in that instant, naturally, was many years ago, when Alka and the others had tampered with his soul through the remnant soul left behind by his clone.

He never expected that all of that had been a smokescreen, that in the end it was just to leave an invisible thread inside his soul, to make him lose focus for one second at a critical moment?

It was that one second that allowed Alka to steal the Abyss Core he had always kept deep within his body, so deep that even he himself had never noticed anything.

Because he had never considered that the Abyss Core inside his own body could be stolen—never, ever.

In that single moment of daze, he didn’t sense a thing.

"You knew all along that I was luring you? You came here willingly? You knew there was a trap here?"

Alka did not answer such questions.

Instead he walked over with a smile and ran him through with his Elemental Weapon.

Then he began extracting his soul.

"Heh... heh... we... were all... played by you..."

His voice was broken and intermittent.

Yet from who knows where, the Devouring Mouth suddenly mustered the strength to grab Alka’s shoulder with his hand.

"Give me... a chance... to see Their... end..."

Hearing this, Alka only rolled his eyes in helplessness.

You had to admit that at times like this, the Chaos emotions between Demons made them want to see their colleagues trip and fall just like they did.

Even in death, they had to see it once, maybe even mock them a couple of times.

Alka could see it clearly.

The soul extracted from the Devouring Mouth was saturated with vast amounts of negative Energy.

For someone as proud and arrogant as him, who saw himself as one of the elites among Demons, ever since encountering Alka he had been a constant laughingstock; the accumulated negative Energy had driven him toward madness.

This madness meant that even in death he still wanted to see those who mocked him fall into the same situation as he did.

Alka reached out and gouged out one of the Devouring Mouth’s eyes.

He poured the entirety of the extracted soul into that eye and sealed it with glass.

"Use this one eye to watch properly. You could be considered my motivation—without you, my strength wouldn’t have grown this fast."

As he spoke, he grabbed what was left of the body, reducing it to residual Energy, and tossed it into the Dream World’s furnace.

The eye was also thrown by Alka into the Dream Realm.

He tossed it into a region where time was fixed.

To prevent the soul within the eye from escaping.
