Tribulation of Myriad Races
Chapter 2295: He’s Here(2)
At the same time.
Two pieces of land floated before each other. On one of them, Xing Yue was busy healing several elderly people who had been injured for many years. Suddenly, her expression changed.
Then, she stood up and walked away, abandoning the old man she was treating.
The old man was stunned. What happened? Wait...was it so hopeless for him that further treatment was unnecessary? Did her speedy departure signify that he would die soon? But why couldn't he feel anything?
"Your Highness, how much longer do I have?"
He asked. Why was she running? At the very least, she had to make things clear, right?
"I don't know."
"..."
The old man sighed. Was she saying that to comfort him because he might drop dead the next second?
Next, the old man said, "Brothers, I'll die soon. Anything nice for me to eat? It has been so long since I tasted something good. Can anyone share some food with me? This will be my last meal..."
How sad.
It had been way too long since he last ate something.
Someone teased, "No. But the Dragon Pseudo Emperor is still alive. Kill him for a feast of dragons. Interested?"
"..."
The old man rolled his eyes. No shit. He wanted to eat the dragon as well, but that dragon was too strong for him to defeat.
They continued conversing among themselves.
Not far away, a figure floated by the river. In fact, Human Emperor's figure had been floating there for many years. He was only there to deter the myriad races from trying anything drastic. A decisive battle wasn't what he wanted, but he was feeling quite helpless.
No reinforcement was in sight, but he knew that it was only a matter of time before the decisive battle arrived. At present, he was the only person the myriad races were wary of. But the moment they returned to the Myriad Realms...he would not be able to continue hiding his injuries.
In truth, he was already at his limit.
He gazed at the opposite piece of land in silence. He had been doing this for many years. He would float there while entertaining all sorts of thoughts. At times, he would look at the old brothers around him, the ones who had followed him unhesitatingly all those years ago.
Over the years, many of his old brothers had died in battle. In fact, many of the thirty-six ancient human kings had died. Fortunately, some ancient marquises had broken through, filling in for the dead Masters of Laws.
In the beginning, there were over three hundred of them. But now, only about a hundred and twenty were left. More than half had perished.
Of course, their opponents had also suffered heavy losses. Back then, they had more than a hundred Masters of Laws and about five to six hundred ancient marquises. And now, there were only two hundred of them left.
Both sides had lost a large number of ancient marquises. However, the difference in the number of Masters of Laws on both sides was quite big. The myriad races had about a hundred and twenty Masters of Laws and a hundred or so ancient marquises.
As for the humans, they had around forty Masters of Laws and roughly eighty ancient marquises. Human Emperor continued floating there while thinking about everything. How were things back home?
He had blocked the myriad races for so many years. If nothing changed back home, their many years of effort and their sacrifice would go to waste.
At times, Human Emperor felt greatly exhausted. Back then, he had paid such a large price to expel the myriad race powerhouses. A decent number of human powerhouses were left behind. But humanity had somehow failed to secure a victory back home even after so many years.
He had essentially swept the foundations of the myriad races clean while keeping humanity's foundations strong. Even so, things had progressed in an unexpected fashion. Culture King and Martial King had remained missing for an extended period of time. Clearly, something unforeseen must have happened behind the Heaven Gate as well.
While deep in thought, he sensed the arrival of his sister. He looked over and smiled, "Yes?"
"He is coming."
"Hmm?"
"My subordinate. Su Yu. Didn't I tell you about him?"
Xing Yue was displeased. Had he been ignoring her words?
Human Emperor blinked. Su Yu...had arrived.
The newly risen powerhouse. It was said that he was only twenty or so in age. Someone who had completed creation as a Sunmoon. Someone who had constantly stirred trouble. Was that guy here?
It hadn't even been that long since that guy's creation, right? In fact, it felt even faster for them due to the difference in the flow of time here. It hadn't even been half a year since Xing Yue departed the Myriad Realms.
Here, less than seven days had passed. Basically, a day here was equal to a month in the Myriad Realms. Of course, the difference would be greater the further upstream they were. At this point, the time difference no longer mattered that much since they were rapidly approaching the Myriad Realms.
For many of them, Xing Yue had just arrived for a few days. And for people at their level, days and months were essentially the same.
Despite his thoughts, Human Emperor smiled, "It's good that he's here. Your willpower was summoned back previously. How is his current strength? Can he come with three or maybe even five Masters of Laws?"
He could feel the appearance of some Masters of Laws not long ago, but those newly produced Masters of Laws had seemingly died. Xing Yue had been very vague about what she knew. Thus, Human Emperor knew very little about the situation on Su Yu's side. Xing Yue was his sole source of information.
However...
As usual, Xing Yue gave a superficial response, "Who knows? I never bothered to ask him. He's my subordinate, so his strength is about decent."
"..."
Human Emperor sighed inwardly. Why was she being so perfunctory?
She had even joined their battle, but this was what she was saying after coming back? How was she clueless about everything? Did she think that he was stupid enough to believe that? Was there even a need to hide things from him?
Human Emperor resisted the urge to roll his eyes and asked, "When will he be arriving?"
"I don't know. But he's probably on his way, so he'll be here soon."
As Human Emperor sank into thought again, Xing Yue added, "By the way, he said that we need to keep his arrival secret in the beginning. We don't want to trigger a decisive battle against the myriad races. Also, do you need anything? He said that you can voice out anything you need help with..."
Help?
Human Emperor sighed inwardly. How strong was Su Yu? Based on his assumption, Su Yu wouldn't be too weak. He would probably be about...tier-three. Yes, he should be that strong in his own world.
But he wouldn't be able to come with his world. Thus, he would effectively be a tier-four. That would make him the middle of the pack among Masters of Laws. As for the Masters of Laws within his world, they would probably be about tier-five here.
If he was lucky enough to produce five or six Masters of Laws, well, five or six tier-fives wouldn't make much of a difference here. And this was already an overestimation on Human Emperor's part.
That was the only conclusion Human Emperor could reach since Su Yu and his subordinates had all detached themselves from the River of Time. In truth, this was an extremely fair prediction.
"Well, that's not too bad, I guess..."
Human Emperor comforted himself. This was better than nothing.
After so many years, the first batch of reinforcements had finally arrived. This could be the sole batch to arrive, but it would still be helpful for morale. At the very least, their arrival signified a victory in the Myriad Realms.
From this alone, Su Yu was worthy of being called a human lord.
The tenth human lord...how were the nine human lords before this so incompetent? Human Emperor sighed and comforted himself that one shouldn't be too greedy. He should be happy that at the final moment, someone competent had finally appeared.
"Big Brother!" Xing Yue asked again, "Do you need help with anything?"
Human Emperor sighed again. He was so strong that not even a tier-three Master of Life like Xing Yue could help with his injuries. What could Su Yu even do to help? Speaking of, Xing Yue had grown recently. She seemed...quite close to the second tier now.
Once again, Human Emperor was distracted by his countless thoughts. Second tier...what a pity that he wouldn't be able to survive long enough to see her reach the first tier. That would definitely be enough to help with his injuries.
Distracted thoughts...
Suddenly, Human Emperor's heart jolted.
Had he reached this stage?
He was no longer capable of concentrating. Any random stray thought could distract him. This was not a good sign.
Forcing himself to calm down, he smiled and said, "I don't need anything. Your big brother is almighty. What can a new guy like him do to help? Well, it's good that he's here. He can help a bit..."
Xing Yue raised her brow, "Who are you looking down on? That subordinate of mine is quite capable!"
She was displeased by her elder brother's attitude.
Human Emperor chuckled and said, "Yes, yes. He's definitely capable. How can a Creator be incapable? I acknowledge that. Since that's your subordinate, you can welcome him. I can't leave..."
Yes, he couldn't leave.
After some thought, he added, "Have Battle King accompany you. Radiant King must remain as well."
The top powerhouses could not move rashly. While the top powerhouses on their side were serving as the deterrence for the top powerhouses of the opposite side, the same also applied to them the other way around. They were essentially keeping each other occupied to prevent anyone from returning without the others.
This had lasted for many years. Every now and then, one side would launch a probing attack to check if anyone was missing. The moment someone was missing, a decisive battle would be launched to take advantage of the power imbalance.
"Big Brother, can't you go?"
Xing Yue hesitated slightly and said, "He cares about his face a lot. If you don't go, he might view it as a slight and leave in anger. What are we supposed to do without him?"
"..."
Once again, Human Emperor had the urge to roll his eyes. He was the Human Emperor. And they were struggling here. It wouldn't be appropriate for him to personally welcome a bunch of weak Masters of Laws during a time like this.
Human Emperor was left speechless. It would be dumb to risk leaving an opening on their side just to welcome a bunch of weak Masters of Laws.
Of course, that would be too impolite for him to say directly so instead, he smiled and said, "He's a human lord. He understands how urgent the situation is. Just explain things to him. I'll receive him well after we defeat the myriad races."
He was only being polite.
But Xing Yue took those words seriously as she nodded, "Sure. I'll explain. We can't have him holding a grudge over this."
Finally, Human Emperor couldn't resist asking, "This Su Yu...seems rather petty...according to you."
Xing Yue asked doubtfully, "Naturally. Did I not tell you about that before?"
Was Su Yu petty?
Exceptionally.
He had the highest degree of pettiness. He was the type to not wait overnight if he could carry out his revenge on the same day.
