"What about you? Would you like to become a Vampire?"

Aurelia asked with a curious look on her face and the moment Lucian heard that question, he blinked in surprise.

And it wasn’t just him, the other Vampires who were secretly listening to their conversation instantly turned towards Aurelia in disbelief.

A Veyr was... offering to turn a Human into a Vampire...?

What...?

Wasn’t it usually the other way around? Weren’t humans the ones who often begged Veyr to turn them into Vampires, willing to sacrifice everything they held dear to them, only to be rejected at the end?

Lucian sensed the gazes turning towards him as well, though it wasn’t something he needed to worry about since the moment Aurelia moved her gaze around the room, staring back at the Vampires watching him—

Though right now, his mind was more occupied with something else.

"Are you saying... I am one of the exceptions...?"

He asked.

Aurelia laughed at that question.

"Do you have to ask? Especially after what you did back in Aevrienne’s Trial?"

That silenced Lucian.

As arrogant as it may sound, the fact of the matter was, the Trial did change the way the Supernatural World looked at him, or... more accurately, it made the Supernatural World look at him and understand how exceptional an existence he was.

An existence not even House Veyr would be able to reject.

"So I can... turn into a Vampire...?"

"What do you think?"

Aurelia’s grin widened.

"Do you desire endless strength? Strength that would keep growing as long as you continue living."

She whispered and Lucian...

He couldn’t say he wouldn’t consider it.

Vampires were strong.

Sure, what sort of existence he had become was strong as well, but the path he was walking on was a path into the unknown.

If he became a Vampire instead, he would have a path. A direct path to endless strength. A path that would... ensure his revenge.

His violet eyes shone.

Once again, his mind started replaying the day everything changed, the day his parents were killed, that vile demon who stood in a pool of his father’s blood.

Lucian shook his head.

Aurelia tilted her head.

Lucian repeated himself.

It wasn’t just about him turning into a Vampire and everything that came with being one.

Lucian knew he was a special existence, or more precisely, an impossible existence. What happened to him could best be termed as a coincidence, a coincidence that could very well be interpreted as a gift, a stroke of fortune.

An exclusive path that could give him the revenge he so deeply desired, a path that brought him where he was.

He did not wish to abandon that.

Whatever it was, whatever dangers and uncertainties it came with, it was... his own.

She nodded with a satisfied look on her face.

Lucian frowned at that.

"Good?"

Aurelia kept smiling and Lucian realised it.

"It was... a test."

Aurelia’s smile widened.

"It was."

She admitted honestly.

"Only Humans can be turned into Vampires and while those at the Enclave call you human, I can assure you, you are not. At the very least, you are not a complete Human who can be turned into a Vampire."

"They seemed to believe it was true."

Lucian spoke as he glanced at the Vampires eavesdropping on their conversation before.

Shouldn’t they know he couldn’t turn into a Vampire? Why did they act so surprised then? He even heard a few of them talking about House Veyr having another Vampire.

"It’s because I said so."

Aurelia shrugged with a smile and...

For some reason, those words made complete sense.

The Vampires here knew Lucian could not turn into a Vampire, but when it was her, the representative of House Veyr making the offer, no one doubted her.

If she was the one making the offer, then he obviously could turn into a Vampire, couldn’t he? Otherwise, she wouldn’t have made the offer in the first place.

That could have been one of their lines of thought.

That made Lucian stare at this woman for a little longer.

How strong of a reputation must one have that even facts blur when they say it?

"Why did you test me?"

Lucian asked.

"I just wanted to know how much you have accepted yourself."

Lucian had no idea what she had just said. That made Aurelia laugh, then, she just praised him again.

"Vivienne has trained you well."

"You know my teacher?"

That question made Aurelia stare at him for a good few seconds, then—

"The only Human no supernatural force underestimates? Yes, I know her."

Lucian’s eyes shone with strong curiosity. After all, he knew next to nothing about his teacher, so any information he could get, he wanted it.

Aurelia saw that and she did not mind sharing.

"Your teacher is an exception to what I said before."

"About Humans relying on artifacts and numbers?"

"Yes."

Aurelia nodded.

"Your teacher..."

She thought about it for a moment.

"You remember when we put you Enclave representatives against Hadrian?"

"You said we wouldn’t even last a minute."

Lucian nodded.

Aurelia nodded back, then—

"If your teacher were here, Hadrian wouldn’t attack."

Lucian raised an eyebrow at that and Aurelia chuckled.

"The First Steward would not want half of the Arcelis Estate reduced to waste."

"What...?"

Lucian’s expression changed and Aurelia laughed.

"That is what the strongest human to ever exist is capable of."

"Wait, my teacher is... the strongest Human?"

"By a margin."

Aurelia nodded.

"Vivienne Everhart is the strongest Human in existence.

A Human the entirety of the Supernatural World fears or respects or... both."

Lucian couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Sure, he knew Vivienne was strong, there was no denying that. He still remembered how he activated his True Form, asked for strength and punched her and she...

She simply grabbed his fist.

It surprised him before, but now, when he heard what he heard...

It didn’t seem that surprising anymore.

Just then, Aurelia shrugged.

"Well, that is, if you can call her a human at this point."
