Chapter 301: What is it that you want from me?

"Come."

She spoke as she started walking, Lucian started following her.

"Where are we going?"

He asked.

"Any guesses?"

"A room where you can have your way with me?"

Lucian answered, Aurelia turned and stared at him with a deadpan look on her face. Lucian quickly raised his hands.

"All I am saying is, if you do have that plan, I have no objections. I am, after all, quite weak. What can I even do when you decide to overpower me?"

In the end, Aurelia just shook her head in defeat and continued walking. Lucian started walking behind her with a big cheeky smile on his face.

"So, where are we going for real?"

He asked again and this time—

"A room where I can have my way with you."

Aurelia smiled and answered without stopping.

"Oh ho~ I look forward to it~"

Lucian smiled.

Then, he corrected himself.

"I mean, I will try my very best to stop you."

The two chuckled.

As they walked out, the Gala continued. From the looks of it, it would continue for around another half an hour or so, considering most of the important conversations were already ending, many guests were leaving.

Others, especially those who had travelled from distant Vampire territories, were being escorted towards different guest wings of the estate.

There were still several days before Vespera Arcelis’s Third Crimson Ascension, quite a few of them planned to stay until then.

House Arcelis was obviously prepared for that as well.

As an Ancient House, they were used to having an audience during their Crimson Ascensions and it wasn’t like they lacked the funds or the space to host a few people.

"You know your way around here."

As they were walking out, Lucian commented as he followed Aurelia out.

"I’ve spent a long time here."

The Vampire shrugged.

"Shouldn’t there be an Arcelis Host guiding us to our rooms?"

"Most Houses have fixed specific residences prepared for Royal and Ancient Houses at all times."

"So there is already a Veyr residence inside House Arcelis?"

Lucian asked with a surprised look on his face.

"Correct."

"Are you saying there are always guests from House Veyr living here?"

"No, these residences are mostly empty."

Aurelia answered and Lucian just stared at her back with a deadpan look on his face.

"So this is what happens when you have too much space to give a fuck."

He commented with a dry look on his face and Aurelia just chuckled.

The two continued moving through one of the older sections of the mansion before eventually entering another wing.

And Lucian noticed the difference almost immediately and he...

"So... when you said ’Residence’..."

He spoke out loud.

Aurelia turned towards him and he kept looking around for a while, before finally looking back at her and—

"When were you going to tell me it meant... an entire Wing?"

He asked.

Yes.

This ’other Wing’ they entered was different from the other Wings they walked through because while there were still Arcelis Crests present here, they were... much less frequent.

Instead of them, there were different crests with a different symbol here.

House Veyr.

"This entire section is yours?"

Lucian asked again.

Aurelia shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal and that only made it even more annoying.

Lucian looked around, he could see servants, security, several Vampires he remembered seeing around Aurelia during the Gala.

"So this is basically a Veyr embassy."

"Close enough."

Aurelia shrugged again. They then walked a little further before she stopped in front of a large wooden door.

"This will be your room."

She spoke as she opened the door. Lucian stepped inside and the instant he did—

He stopped.

The room—no, the Suite was enormous.

There was a living area immediately after the entrance, furnished with dark couches, a fireplace and a large table. Beyond that was an entire bedroom separated by wide sliding doors.

There was another door leading to what Lucian assumed was a bathroom, a balcony that overlooked the garden below, there was even what looked like a small private study.

Lucian stared at it with his mouth open, then, with the same dumbfounded expression, he turned towards Aurelia.

"This is much bigger than the room Arcelis gave me before."

"Obviously."

Aurelia nodded as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"You are no longer staying as part of the Enclave delegation. You are now a guest of House Veyr."

"Huh."

Lucian nodded as he stared back at the room again.

It went without saying, this was the most lavish ’room’ he had ever been in.

He walked towards the bedroom, king-sized bed, very expensive sheets, even the furniture here looked expensive enough that he felt like he could buy a house if he sold it.

That made Lucian look back at Aurelia.

"Can I steal things?"

Certainly the most normal question, of course.

"No."

Aurelia shook her head.

"Ah."

Lucian ’realised’ it.

"That makes sense, I can’t tell you if I plan to steal, I understand."

"I don’t think you do understand.

No stealing."

"Of course."

Lucian nodded again.

Aurelia did not trust him.

Honestly, she didn’t really care. He could steal all he wanted, she doubted anyone would care.

"My room is next door."

She informed him as she pointed towards the wall on the right.

"If you require something, call one of the attendants."

"What if I want you?"

Lucian tilted his head with an amused look on his face. Aurelia smiled at that question.

"Don’t worry, I’ll come to you on my own."

"I’ll be waiting."

Lucian smiled back.

The two stared at each other for a few more seconds, then, Aurelia turned around, preparing to leave.

Just then—

"Lady Aurelia."

Lucian called again.

Aurelia stopped, she also noticed how Lucian’s tone had changed, the usual playfulness and amusement had faded a little.

She glanced back.

"I’ve been thinking."

He spoke.

"You think?"

"I sometimes surprise myself too."

He answered.

Then—

"Why is House Veyr being so... kind to me?

What is it that you want from me?"

He asked directly.
