"I must admit."

He spoke.

"I expected more."

And the instant Lucian heard those words—

A wide, demonic grin appeared on his face.

"Is that so...?"

Aurelia noticed the smile on his face and she...

She did not stop it.

She wanted to see how this would play out.

"Yes, I’ve heard everyone talk about great things, they said your name together with a few other big names, Rhydan Greyfang, Silvian Veyr, you are called Enclave’s newest prodigy."

"You’ve done your research."

Lucian nodded.

"I usually don’t give autographs, but seeing that you’ve put so much effort, I’ll make an exception."

Caelan narrowed his eyes at those words. When he saw Vespera cover her mouth with her hand, his expression became even uglier. So in the end—

"I would like to see it."

Lucian tilted his head innocently.

"See what?"

"What everyone finds so impressive."

"I don’t know? I am a man of many charms, I wouldn’t know what part of me attracted whom."

Lucian shrugged, trying to get a more amusing reaction out of him.

Caelan’s mouth twitched in annoyance. He could tell that Lucian wasn’t taking the hint, he was trying to avoid him because he was scared, but he wasn’t going to let him.

"I would like a spar."

He demanded directly.

He wasn’t going to let Lucian talk his way out of it, if he wanted to avoid the battle, he needed to say it out loud.

"A spar?"

Lucian raised an eyebrow.

"Yes.

I, Caelan Saraya, a Fullblood pledged to House Arcelis, formally challenge you to a Spar."

Caelan announced.

Lucian blinked at that.

He wasn’t even a proper Arcelis?

Talk about disappointment.

"Are you sure you want a spar?"

He asked.

"Yes."

He nodded again, then, before Lucian could waste more of his time talking about something random—

"We are already in the Arena, the time is as good as any. So why the hesitation? Are you perhaps... trying to avoid me?"

"I am trying to avoid hurting you."

Lucian nodded.

Caelan’s face turned colder.

"You don’t need to worry about me.

Worry about yourself."

"Wow, toughhhh."

Lucian nodded.

Then, he glanced at Aurelia. The Vampire smiled, clearly enjoying the situation. She obviously had no intention of stopping whatever was happening.

So in the end, Lucian sighed and he took out his phone and began texting.

"What are you doing?"

Caelan narrowed his eyes.

"Making sure I don’t mistakenly get foreign aid, I don’t want you to demand a ’fair rematch’ once you lose."

Lucian replied without even looking up, his focus was on his phone.

I’ll be sparring, don’t worry if you sense me using energy. —Lucian.

Love you <3 —Lucian.

He didn’t get a reply, but he only needed to inform her.

Plus, he highly doubted he would need to spend that much energy anyway. There was no need to alarm his Evelyn.

On the other side, as Lucian ignored him completely, Caelan’s face became even uglier, his anger could no longer remain hidden, he wanted to punch this man right this instant but he—

He held back.

The demon in front of him had the blood of an Incubus, demons that specifically targeted their enemy’s mind and this was exactly what he was trying to do.

He was trying to get into his head and make him do something as irrational as hitting him right before the spar.

Then, once he lost, he could blame it on the ’cheap move’ he pulled before the battle and keep his reputation.

Caelan, however, wasn’t going to let that happen.

No matter what the loathsome demon said to him, he would hold back and get him back during the spar.

"Alright, I am ready."

Lucian spoke as he put his phone back in his pocket.

"What are we doing?"

He asked as he looked around.

They had gathered a bit of an audience.

Vampires usually did not train, these past few days, however, knowing that Vespera would be training, a few decided to come.

"A spar."

Caelan repeated without a change in his expression.

"Yes, a spar."

Lucian nodded with an exhausted look on his face.

He then looked around the Arena—

"Anyone else who wishes the same? All of you can come together."

He announced.

"There is no need.

You only need to fight me."

Caelan raised his voice.

Lucian looked at him and sighed—

"Look, man, no offence, but you only seem important right now because you aren’t on the floor. Once you are, that importance is gone, then someone else would challenge me in your place.

I don’t want more people challenging me left and right once I defeat you.

This is not a cliché cultivation novel.

If I am going to be inside a novel, I want it to be a good one."

The rest of the Vampires looked at him with strange expressions.

Just what the hell was he talking about?

They wondered in their heads.

Just then—

"No one else would challenge you after this, Mr. Cross."

Vespera spoke with a light smile.

"We Vampires aren’t usually out of line, I apologise for that."

She spoke, momentarily looking at Caelan as she did.

That made Caelan lower his head. His frustration, however, was still there.

"You do not need to entertain Mr. Caelan’s request either, he was merely jesting. He has a bad sense of humour."

She smiled politely.

Caelan wanted to say something, but the moment he saw Vespera’s smile, he quickly turned silent.

Aurelia actually seemed disappointed that Vespera controlled the situation but Lucian—

"Ah, don’t worry about it."

He shook his head.

"I fully intend to spar.

But only one time."

And this time, before Vespera could talk Lucian out of it—

"Alright then."

Aurelia spoke up with an amused look on her face.

She also glanced at Vespera, gesturing for her to back out.

She did not like someone messing with her entertainment. Vespera, obviously, backed down very quickly. Aurelia smiled, then she looked around and—

"Then one spar it is."

The Ancient Vampire then looked at Caelan.

"You want to do it alone?"

"Yes."

Caelan nodded with a determined look on his face. His hatred for Lucian had already reached the next level.

"And you?"

Aurelia turned towards Lucian.

And he—

"Let’s get it over with."

He just shrugged.
