Chapter 314: Sounds very fun~

The spar between Lucian and Caelan continued and the longer it did, the clearer the difference between them became and the core of the problem became more apparent.

Caelan, like most young Vampires, did not train.

To Vampires, training was pointless.

Why would they train when they would get stronger after the Ascension anyway? They almost always came out stronger compared to other races, their bodies continued to grow as long as they lived, whether they trained or not.

On a surface level, training made next to no difference.

Or at least, that was what most young Vampires believed.

Caelan was the same, all his life, he had never felt... weak.

He was not required to hunt, nor had he ever left the Arcelis Territory to explore the world. To him, strength wasn’t something he desperately desired. Why would it be? Especially when he knew he would get it eventually?

So he never trained.

That showed in the way he moved and attacked. His body was so glaringly obvious that it gave away what he intended to do without him even realising it. His shoulders moved before his attacks, his weight committed too early.

There were also patterns, patterns that an experienced fighter tried to hide, Caelan did not.

Patterns like how he preferred his right side whenever he accelerated, how every time the opponent ducked, he would follow with his left dagger and more and more and more...

Countless predictable patterns.

And Lucian—

He was already done reading all the patterns.

Honestly, at this point, he believed he could actually fight with his eyes closed and he was tempted to try.

During the fight, he was also wondering what Vivienne would do if she ever saw Caelan.

’She would beat all these habits out of him within a week.’

He shook his head.

Maybe then he would improve a little.

In the end, Lucian shook his head again.

This was... anticlimactic.

It honestly wasn’t even fun at this point.

So Lucian decided to end this.

Caelan slashed again, Lucian dodged, as he did, blood vines appeared below him, trying to make him lose his balance, Lucian moved over them, Caelan’s dagger instantly turned into a spear as he tried to pierce through his heart—

Honestly, overall, it wasn’t a bad technique.

A weapon that kept changing.

Turned into a shield when Caelan was defending, a sword when he was attacking, a dagger when he needed speed, a spear when he needed range, an axe or a hammer for momentum and everything could interchange anytime Caelan wanted—

It wasn’t a bad way to fight.

Lucian could picture how painfully annoying it could be, if not for Caelan’s predictable movements.

’Vampires are such a cheat.’

Lucian shook his head.

Then, as he parried the spear coming for his heart, he moved in again.

Only this time, he did not punch him like he did multiple times before.

He placed his palm on his chest, then—

One-Inch Dominion.

And—

BOOOOOM

Caelan’s body was thrown back, crashed into the wall, then fell to the ground.

"Khaarrkkk!!"

The Vampire coughed out loud.

He tried to stand up again, to continue fighting, to teach this bastard a lesson but—

"Alright, that’s enough."

Aurelia announced.

Caelan looked at her.

"Lady Aurelia, I can still wi—"

"Stop embarrassing yourself, Caelan."

Vespera spoke up with a cold look on her face.

"Even you should realise that Mr. Cross has been going easy on you.

Learn to admit when you have been bested."

"Y-Yes."

Caelan lowered his head.

He did, however, glare at Lucian at the end. Lucian didn’t particularly care. He had long lost interest in him.

Honestly, he would prefer Dorian Ashcroft in his stead. At the very least, Dorian had better technique. Of course, Caelan would still defeat him considering he was a Fullblood but perhaps...

That was one of the reasons why he was... as disappointing as he was.

Lucian shrugged, not giving it any more thought. He instead moved towards Aurelia and the rest. When he walked closer, he smiled.

"Well, that was fun."

"There is no need to lie here."

Aurelia waved her hand.

"Really?"

Lucian raised an eyebrow.

"Of course, Mr. Cross is our esteemed guest, he shouldn’t feel uncomfortable."

Vespera nodded.

Lucian then nodded back and this time, he was honest—

"That was the most boring duel I’ve ever had.

You’d think you would be more skilful when you issue a challenge."

"Trust me, he did believe he was sufficiently skilful."

Aurelia pointed out and Lucian didn’t even know how he was supposed to act.

And Vespera...

As she saw the interaction, she couldn’t help but feel... humiliated.

Of course, she knew Lucian wasn’t doing it on purpose, he didn’t even ask for all this, it was her Vampire who acted out of bounds, then he challenged their guest and eventually humiliated House Arcelis.

The more Vespera thought, the colder her face became.

She glanced at the spot where Caelan was standing.

He may have walked away right now, Vespera, however, had no intention of letting him go. She glanced at the Vampire standing next to her, the Vampire understood her expression and nodded at her, she nodded back.

Now, she only needed to decide what she was going to do to him, but before that, of course, she needed to interact with the man standing in front of her.

"I apologise for everything, Mr. Cross."

She bowed her head, Lucian quickly stopped her.

"Please, you have no reason to apologise."

"I failed to keep my people in check."

"Again, you didn’t do anything. Someone asked me for a spar, I agreed. There was no harm done at all.

Besides, you have far more important matters to consider than who asks whom to spar."

He chuckled.

Vespera smiled at that.

Then—

"Would you like to help me with those important matters?"

She asked with a smile.

"Oh?"

Lucian smiled like a pervert.

"Are you asking me to drain you?"

"...what?"

"Nothing."

Lucian shook his head and instantly changed the topic.

"Do you want to spar with me as well?"

"Yes, I am, however, considerably weaker than I normally am."

"Don’t worry, I’ve seen you train. Lady Aurelia also gave me a brief explanation, I know what to do."

"Then do you wish to join?"

"Sounds very fun~"
