Chapter 382: What did you do?

"You lied to me."

While the Ancient Vampires were having a conversation that was about to start something much bigger than what most people were expecting, Vivienne glared at her student and spoke in a cold tone.

Lucian looked back at her, then he looked at the place they were in. Half of the walls were cracked, windows were practically gone, there was one left, even that was cracked and felt like it would fall with even a weak gust of air, though the structure itself was standing, that, considering the situation they were in, was much more than enough.

They were... far from the main Arcelis Estate where everything happened. His teacher purposefully brought him far away, moving past the collapsed buildings, broken roads and Vampires who were still recovering from the Crimson Hearth’s suppression.

Lucian, of course, followed quietly, not that he had any choice, he was being carried like a sack of potatoes.

It was kind of fun actually, especially because unlike ever before, he could now, at the smallest possible level, keep up with Vivienne’s speed.

He could see everything passing around him as they moved, he stared at the Vampires staring at Vivienne who just rushed past them. Most of them couldn’t even see her face, they just saw something moving past them at an extreme speed.

And the best part about all this was their reaction, because they had seen so many absurd things already today, most of them didn’t even react to it, they just saw something move past them at a ridiculous speed, then they returned to their own thing, thanking the Lord the terrifying thing wasn’t coming for them.

Of course, Lucian’s fun didn’t last long, after a while, Vivienne found a building with a comparatively better structure and far away from most Vampires, then, she threw him on the ground and...

Here they were...

With Lucian lying on the ground, watching his teacher glaring at him. Lucian stared back at her for a while, then, he spoke in a genuine voice.

"I didn’t lie to you, Teacher."

"You deliberately concealed what you intended to do."

Vivienne changed her sentence that second.

"...that’s not lying."

Lucian defended himself. Vivienne kept staring at him. The coldness in her eyes momentarily made Lucian shiver.

He had seen that expression before, a lot of times actually and every time he saw it, something extremely unpleasant happened to him during training.

That made him smile innocently, he wanted to show how much of a good boy he was. Vivienne, however, wasn’t amused by his antics, not today.

"Don’t try anything."

She warned before he could take this any further.

"...I wasn’t going to try anything."

Lucian lied.

Vivienne kept staring at him, he remained silent.

He could tell she was angry, so he decided not to fan the fire. That was a foolish move and he was not foolish.

Then finally—

"What did you do?"

Vivienne asked directly.

Lucian stared at her, then, before he could answer.

"I am warning you again, do not lie to me today.

I will not believe for even the shortest moment that you had nothing to do with what happened here."

The moment Lucian heard those words, his body straightened up.

Vivienne kept glaring at him. From the conversations she had heard so far, she could tell a lot had happened. An Archdemon resurrected, Arcelis House’s strongest formation lost control...

And this was what she had just heard, what she saw was even more absurd.

An Ancient Vampire House Estate was in ruins, there were another Ancient House’s Strongest Vampires outside, there were even casualties, most Vampires looked like they were recovering from a decades-long disease.

Something definitely happened here...

And...

Vivienne still remembered the last conversation she had with Lucian.

She already suspected something when he rejected the advances of an Ancient Vampire, she knew he was planning something and now...

An Ancient Vampire House was ruined...

There was absolutely no way Lucian wasn’t involved.

Lucian stared at his teacher. He was offended by how his teacher thought he was involved with all this, what was even more frustrating was that she was right.

In the end, he sighed and then...

His face changed.

"I knew the voice was probably Neroth when Aurelia told me about him, there were simply too many things to not make a connection. I knew he wanted something so..."

"So you followed him."

Vivienne completed his words.

"Yes."

Lucian nodded and Vivienne did not ask why, she had already made the connection.

This man refused Aurelia’s advances because her blood wouldn’t be enough, then he was contacted by an Archdemon...

"You wanted his blood."

Lucian looked at her, then he showed a small smile.

"A little."

That made Vivienne glare at him again. He kept smiling, then, Vivienne asked something else.

"Then what about the Heart? You told me you ate his Heart."

"Well, in my defence, that wasn’t the plan."

Lucian raised his hands.

Vivienne glared at him, Lucian understood that cue and sighed again.

"Things happened, if I didn’t consume his Heart, Neroth would have resurrected properly, then, considering that he also had a way to control the Hearth and weaken every single Vampire present here...

He would have killed everyone here.

I had no choice."

"...you did it to save everyone?"

Vivienne raised an eyebrow.

"Well..."

Lucian didn’t know how to answer that.

Did he do it to save everyone...?

"Technically, I was the one who freed his Heart, you can say I felt responsible. I wasn’t trying to save anyone, I just wanted to stop him."

"So Neroth had the chance to resurrect properly, kill everyone here, and leave to rampage even further and you stopped him because you ate his Heart."

"Pretty much."

Lucian nodded.

And Vivienne narrowed her eyes.

Something here did not make sense.

"And... he let you?"

She tilted her head.

The Archdemon who could have everything he wanted failed because Lucian managed to eat his Heart.

Something here did not add up.

"He wanted me to eat his Heart."
