The two elders exchanged a glance, and said simultaneously, "There’s a condition?" Then they turned their gaze back to their daughter’s face.

Carlotta Sterling couldn’t guess what her condition might be, but as long as she wanted to reconcile, she would do her best to oblige.

Janelle Mills seized the opportunity, "You two need to remarry."

"..." The two were both shocked.

There was a few seconds of silence in the room; the answer was quite abrupt!

Old Mills felt a bit awkward and internally shaken, and so did Carlotta Sterling.

"Unless you remarry," Janelle Mills’s tone was firm, as she laid it out, "Otherwise, I won’t agree."

"It’s not..." Carlotta Sterling was a bit confused, "Janelle, these are two separate matters, don’t conflate them."

Old Mills genuinely wished to remarry; he was already preparing, with the roses in the yard about to bloom. He planned to propose in the flower bed once she was discharged from the hospital.

He had even secretly commissioned a custom ring.

So Old Mills played it smart; he didn’t speak and wanted to use the opportunity to gauge Carlotta Sterling’s feelings.

"I know they are separate matters," Janelle said to them, "But it’s my one wish, and I want it fulfilled before I reconcile."

"..." Silence.

She continued, "Besides, your relationship now isn’t as bad as it once was, so stop being stubborn. Clearly, you still care for each other, so just remarry!"

When Old Mills looked at Carlotta Sterling, he noticed she was also looking at him, both slightly embarrassed.

Janelle Mills went on, "Once you have the wedding, I’ll reconcile. I won’t abandon you both; reconciling with them doesn’t mean leaving you two. I hope you can legally come together again and look out for each other."

So... has this matter become a transaction?

There was no choice; Old Mills expressed, "I’m willing to remarry."

Then Janelle Mills set her gaze on Carlotta Sterling, waiting for her answer. She felt a bit embarrassed, glancing at her daughter and then at the man beside her.

She didn’t resist; her face softened, and she responded with silence.

So the matter reached a consensus: Old Mills and Sister Sterling would remarry, and Janelle would reconcile with her brother and father.

Outside the door, Ian Shelby couldn’t help but smile gently; his expression was exceedingly tender.

Ian Shelby turned back to his office, calmly considering for a moment, and called in a doctor, saying, "Go give Carlotta Sterling a check-up to see if she’s ready to be discharged."

"The stitches have been removed, and the wound is healing well. From yesterday’s check-up, she is ready to be discharged, but I’ll do a detailed examination again."

"Alright, thank you for your hard work."

After the doctor left, just as Ian Shelby was planning to visit the hospital room, Janelle Mills appeared at the door; the siblings’ gazes met.

Ian Shelby sat back in his office chair, and Janelle Mills stepped forward, standing before him, and spoke softly, "When can my mother be discharged?"

"I’ve already arranged for the doctor to check her; she should be fine in the next couple of days."

"Once she’s discharged, Trevor and I have prepared a small wedding for them. After the ceremony, you can take me to meet my father." Janelle initiated the conversation.

Ian Shelby was very pleased, "Okay." He then asked, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"No need, the wedding is already arranged." Janelle Mills also knew he was busy, "You take care of your work, just wait for my call."

Ian Shelby took a business card from his drawer and handed it to her, "This is the number." He added, "If it’s convenient, maybe we can first add each other on WeChat?"

Janelle Mills took out her phone, not only saving his number but also adding him on WeChat.

He said, "I’ll wait for your message."

Janelle nodded and turned to leave.
