Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1828: The Wedding Ends, Time to Acknowledge Family
At this moment, Lana Montgomery looped her arm through her son’s and smiled at him, saying, "These two aunts each have an exceptional daughter who’s single. They’re about your age. Would you like to add them on WeChat and chat?"
Julian Hawthorne looked at his mother with a smile and gently reminded her, "Mom, I have a girlfriend. I just haven’t had the chance to tell you yet."
As soon as he finished speaking, he glanced at the time on his wristwatch and added, "There are some things at the company I still need to get to, so I have to head out first. You all chat." With that, he waved goodbye to the two aunts and walked away.
Lana Montgomery knew her son couldn’t accept this kind of marriage bartering. In reality, he didn’t have a girlfriend.
"Madam, your son has a girlfriend? How come you weren’t aware?"
"What’s the big deal about that? Nowadays, kids only bring them home when they’re planning on getting married."
Lana Montgomery merely listened to this, only smiling slightly, saying nothing.
Not far off, Mia Lane and Harlan Quinn sat across from each other, enjoying coffee in the sunlight.
She relayed everything that had happened at Lorelei’s end to her uncle, everything about Eden’s journey to his end, and how he fell from his pedestal on that stormy night.
Also the effectiveness of the medication against the King’s illness...
And her master’s death, which was also related to Eden.
Listening to her recount these events on such a celebratory day, Harlan Quinn’s heart grew heavy and uneasy. "Eden gets what he deserves, although he harmed too many people. Dying a hundred times wouldn’t be enough to compensate."
Recollections of the past inevitably lead to sadness, but now, it seems to be the best outcome; no one else will be hurt.
"Uncle, please take care of yourself," Mia Lane told him. "I will visit you often whenever I can."
"You’re pregnant, you should prioritize your health over work when necessary."
"I know."
On this day, especially happy was Ian Shelby, because Mr. Mills and Mrs. Mills were finally remarried, and now his sister can fulfill her promise without any worries.
Aching to fulfill his father’s only wish, Ian Shelby found a glimmer of hope.
Since his father was still at home, after offering his blessings he took Jocelyn back to the villa.
Old King was strolling in the courtyard, and spotting the car drive up, he hurried over. "Why have you returned? Weren’t you going to attend your friend’s re-marriage ceremony? The banquet hasn’t started yet, has it?"
"Hello, Uncle." Jocelyn Morgan had already changed her salutation. "The ceremony is over; you’re still at home. Have you eaten?"
"Just had some." Bertie greeted her with much happiness, his face full of kindly smiles, and then the three of them stepped inside.
"Father," Ian Shelby began, "Why don’t you stay in Riventhal for a little while longer? We’ll take you to nearby sites this afternoon."
"Won’t the hospital be busy?"
"Not busy."
On the way back earlier, Ian Shelby had already discussed with Jocelyn where they would take his father for fun that afternoon; they even planned out a route.
Actually, Bertie had intended to book a flight back home today and had shared this thought with his son.
Because his mission in Riventhal had already been accomplished, meeting the elders of his soon-to-be daughter-in-law’s family.
But his son suggested taking him out, and he thought it was a splendid idea, a rare chance to spend time together.
Getting to know more about the city where his son had lived for years felt like glimpsing into those years of his son’s life.
By early evening, at the wedding venue,
The guests and friends hugged Carlotta Sterling and Old Mills one by one, bidding farewell. Everyone was still moved; since graduating high school, it had been a while since everyone gathered so joyously.
After the guests departed one by one, only Carlotta Sterling, Old Mills, and Janelle remained.
The family of three sat in the café, surrounded by elegance, warmed by golden lights.
In front of them sat the freshly served coffee, Nathan Mills spoke to his daughter, "Janelle, when do you plan to see your father?"
This was a question that couldn’t be avoided; hence, it was laid out on the table.
