Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1945 Anton Ford Takes the Initiative
"You didn’t sleep well last night?" Anton Miller asked softly, with concern.
The girl wondered, are my dark circles really that bad?
Being asked like that made Abby Sawyer a little embarrassed, but she still wore a faint smile on her face. "It was okay."
She suddenly remembered what Tess Tate had told her yesterday, and felt this was the perfect time to say thank you.
So Abby looked into his eyes and said seriously, "Thank you so much for what you did yesterday."
"Which thing are you talking about?" Anton Miller seemed interested in bantering with her. He held his coffee cup, the corner of his lips slightly hooked, acting like a big shot who forgets things easily, his deep gaze falling on the girl’s face.
That way, the topic wouldn’t end so quickly, and he could spend a bit more time alone with her.
Abby thought for a moment.
He reminded her gently, "Yesterday we went through the script together, I helped you study the role, I spoke up for you in front of the director, and I also helped you out in front of the reporters. So, Ms. Sawyer, which one do you mean?"
In just one day, Abby Sawyer owed him so many favors that she felt quite awkward about it.
"Mainly for helping me out in front of the reporters. Without you, today’s news... would probably be pretty ugly, right?" Her tone carried a bit of relief and a bit of helplessness.
The first thing she did when she woke up this morning was check the news. She didn’t see any reports about her having a scandal with CEO Kingston, and she finally let out a long breath of relief; otherwise, the moment she stepped out the door today, she’d probably be drowned in rotten eggs.
And Anton Miller also knew that this was the most important matter.
So he met her gaze and nodded. "Mm, is it just a verbal thank you?"
Huh?
The girl froze for a second and saw a faint smile in his eyes.
Anton Miller seemed to think for a bit, then said, "How about you treat me and my agent to a meal? It’s just the two of us, it won’t cost much."
"Sure, sure, of course." Abby snapped back to herself. She felt that if she didn’t agree, it would definitely look like she was being stingy.
And since he’d helped her so much, treating him to a meal was only right.
So she agreed immediately. "I’ll bring my agent along too."
Anton Miller nodded. "Then let’s do it tonight. I’ll add you on WeChat." He took a sip of coffee and pulled out his phone.
Abby opened her WeChat profile. "I’ll send you the address in a bit."
"Okay." They added each other quickly, and he stepped past her, heading toward the lounge.
Why did he insist on calling Jerry Garcia along?
It was precisely so he wouldn’t put extra psychological pressure on Abby, and so she wouldn’t get the wrong idea that he wanted to "ask her out."
Anton Miller knew Abby Sawyer very well. Even if she’d lost her memory, the manners etched into her bones wouldn’t change. He knew she wasn’t the type of girl who casually went out alone with guys.
Abby didn’t have many scenes to film today, just a small one with not many lines, but she used almost all her time to familiarize herself with the script, study the novel, and do personality analyses for each character...
She worked harder than anyone else in the crew.
Angel was especially low?key today. Worried that Anton Ford might investigate her, she hadn’t slept well at all last night and had even had a nightmare.
Her scenes opposite Abby Sawyer didn’t have much conflict to begin with, so even though she really didn’t like Abby, she still cooperated very well today. After all, Anton Miller was watching not far away.
Even if she wanted to make things difficult for Abby Sawyer, with today’s plot, she couldn’t really find a suitable opportunity.
"What a headache." Tess Tate stood next to Jerry Garcia, turned her eyes toward him, and gave him a look. "Why did Abby drag the two of us along if she’s treating Anton to dinner? I thought she’d invite him alone."
"We’ll play it by ear. Words are dead, but we’re alive." Jerry Garcia crossed his arms over his chest and smiled, as if he’d already thought of a plan. "When the time comes, we’ll slip away together."
