Chapter 422: Chapter 391: Battle of the Pinnacle Sword Cultivators (2)

The entire Black Tortoise Calm Sea trembled. The intense Sword Qi swept out, reaching more than ten miles away.

The Spiritual Boat in mid-air was tossed about as if on a raging sea, swaying violently. Everyone gripped the gunwales, as though caught in an invisible tempest. The Little Chick beat its wings, circling above the Spiritual Boat and letting out an anxious, hawk-like cry.

The Green-Winged Flood Dragon and the Sword-Patterned Silver Flood Dragon curled their bodies into tight balls, their gazes filled with terror as they looked ahead.

It was as if.

The two figures in that stretch of sea, one in the sky and one on the water, were each other’s most terrifying natural predators.

Meng Qianxun and Meng Changtu clenched their fists.

The onlookers gazed up at the center of the battlefield, which had transformed into an ocean of Sword Qi. Even a slightly weaker Golden Core Cultivator would be instantly torn to shreds by their combined Sword Qi if they were to wander into it.

"Impressive moves, Valley Master Chen. But I wonder how you’ll handle this."

Seeing his Sword Rain blocked, Dan Kongzi was delighted rather than alarmed. He let out a great laugh and clapped his hands together.

"Collect!"

WHOOSH—

The Sword Box shot into the air, releasing a brilliant golden radiance that enveloped the Sword Group in mid-air.

His Sword Box was not just for storing Flying Swords; it was also a Magical Artifact with a special function. During its refining, a Tier Four Divine Separation Stone had been fused into it, allowing it to sever an opponent’s Divine Sense connection to their magical artifacts.

Dan Kongzi had used this same trick earlier to seize the magical artifacts from the cultivators on the Spiritual Boat, and now he intended to do it again.

SWISH!

A torrent surged forth.

Before the horrified eyes of the crowd, thousands of Flying Swords were enveloped by the golden light. Like a great whale inhaling the sea, the Sword Box swallowed the entire Sword Group whole.

"This is bad!"

Seeing this, all the spectators cried out in alarm.

Just moments before.

Chen Che had relied on his Sword Pill to slay several Golden Core Cultivators and contend with Dan Kongzi. Now that he had lost this treasure, how could he possibly withstand Dan Kongzi’s assault?

And just as they feared, with the Sword Pill no longer there to resist, Dan Kongzi gave a light chuckle. With a wave of his hand, the unobstructed Sword Group shot upward, transforming into a wild, iridescent dragon that lunged at Chen Che. It then shifted again, becoming a Sword River that completely surrounded him.

Each Flying Sword spun at its maximum velocity, tearing through the air and kicking up a white mist that resembled willow catkins.

"Not good!"

Meng Changtu could no longer bear it. He planted a foot on the gunwale, ready to charge into the battlefield.

But Dan Kongzi caught the movement out of the corner of his eye and simply gestured with his hand.

Meng Qianxun, quick to react, grabbed him.

TSSSSSST!

That one gesture had parted the sea. The water beneath the Spiritual Boat split in two. Leaning over, one could even see the towering mountains on the seafloor, and those peaks, too, had been cleaved in half.

Seeing this, a cold sweat drenched Meng Changtu.

"Valley Master Chen, your Magical Artifact is lost. You have no way out. I respect you as a great expert of our time, so I will permit you to take your own life. That way, you will not lose face."

Withdrawing his gaze, Dan Kongzi stood upon the water, his head held high as he looked up at Chen Che in the air.

"Not necessarily!"

Countless Flying Swords circled Chen Che, their sharp Sword Auras flaring as they sought an opening to attack.

As Chen Che spoke, he brandished the Ruyi Wind and Thunder Sword in his hand, a vast surge of True Essence erupting to blast the circling Flying Swords away.

"Still not ready to give up? All the Cultivators on that boat combined couldn’t withstand a single exchange with me. Your Water and Fire Technique is indeed far superior to that of a typical Same-Tier Golden Core. But my Sword Box is its perfect counter."

Dan Kongzi had witnessed the entire battle and refused to believe Chen Che had any other tricks up his sleeve.

"At this point, I refuse to believe you have any trump cards left!"

"What a pity..."

「Far across the Jinghai.」

Onboard a Spiritual Boat, parked in an area impervious to Divine Sense.

They had been here since the battle began, quietly observing the entire engagement.

Yu Yunko cradled her Black Blade. The sea breeze whipped her hair about as she slowly shook her head. "He was just one step short."

"Is he going to call for aid?"

A Golden Core Cultivator on the Spiritual Boat ventured.

As they saw it, this was the only path left for Chen Che. After all, Yu Yunko had tossed him a Horn when she tried to recruit him. Of course, there was a price to be paid for sounding it.

He wouldn’t necessarily be controlled by them, but he would, at the very least, be forced to work for them.

"Is that so?"

Chen Che smiled faintly and, with a flicker of his Divine Sense...

VMMMM—

The words had barely left his lips when Dan Kongzi felt a jolt in his right hand. He looked down to see the Sword Box in his grasp trembling violently. With each impact from within, an immense force sent a numbing shock through his palm.

Worse, each impact sent the seawater beneath his feet churning. In just a few short moments, cracks began to web across the Sword Box’s surface. It was as if a Fierce Beast was trapped inside, ready to burst free at any second.

Then.

As Dan Kongzi watched with an ashen face, the Sword Box shattered. A single Sword Pill, shining like a flower of Spiritual Light, rotated slowly in its place. Immense Sword Qi radiated from it in waves, its hum filling the air.

Chen Che stood with his hands at his sides, chuckling lightly.

"That Sword Box of yours can’t hold just *anything*."

"Go!"

Slowly raising his right hand as if lifting an immense weight, Chen Che pointed forward.

THWP! THWP! THWP!

From within the Sword Pill, countless Flying Swords fluttered down like scattered petals and leaves, then shot out with explosive speed. As the Sword Pill bloomed, it was as if a boundless Sword Rain began to fall upon that stretch of sea!

Each blade was unbelievably fast.

Like a howling gale!

Like roaring lightning!

Then, as Chen Che clenched his fist, they converged into a tumbling, roaring Sword Dragon.

"This is bad!"

Dan Kongzi’s face contorted in horror. His Sword Box was shattered, his own myriad swords were still with Chen Che, and it was too late to recall them for defense. The world-shaking, terrifyingly jagged Sword Dragon rapidly magnified in his pupils!

However.

At this life-or-death moment, Dan Kongzi did something astounding. He had no thought of escape, nor any intention of begging for mercy. Instead, he took a step forward, and in that instant, a monstrous torrent of Sword Qi erupted from every pore on his body.

In a flash, he was completely engulfed by Sword Qi, his very body transforming into a living sword that shot directly into the oncoming swarm.

BOOM!

Before anyone could react, an explosion of sword light erupted. A sound like ten thousand thunderbolts crashing down at once echoed over the sea, and for a moment, the world between sea and sky was nothing but that single expanse of light. The ears of every spectator went deaf on the spot.

An unprecedented wave of Sword Qi exploded outward from the point of collision, and in an instant, countless colossal waterspouts surged thousands of feet into the sky.

CRACKLE—SNAP—

The Shield protecting the Spiritual Boat was torn apart in an instant. The exposed hull made a deafening splintering sound as the massive vessel rapidly disintegrated. Before the Cultivators on board could even react, they were flung away by the gale-force winds.

Even Yu Yunko and her group, watching from dozens of miles away, felt as if they had been caught in a monstrous, stormy sea.

Between heaven and earth.

Dan Kongzi’s figure was nowhere to be seen. Only Chen Che remained, standing alone on the surface of the water.
