Chapter 604: Chapter 552: Wen Yangxi Arrives Again, A Thousand Boats Pass Through
Although Yu Qian didn’t have a complete intelligence network, he was from the Yu Family and had spent years traveling the world. The secrets he knew far surpassed what most people did.
Furthermore, Wen Yangxi had been so grievously injured that an ordinary Golden Core Cultivator would have needed years of recovery before they could even think of returning to the battlefield. Even if they were lucky enough to survive, their power would be drastically diminished. Yet, a mere month later, he had returned to stage a comeback—
This mystery was something Chen Che could not afford to ignore.
"The Azure Dragon Hall is an independent clan. I’ve never had any dealings with them, so I don’t know much. I’m afraid I may disappoint you, Valley Master Chen."
Yu Qian said with a sigh:
"The Wen Family, like the Meng Family, built its foundation on Beast Taming. They started out as fishermen, so they were naturally skilled in tide-summoning techniques. After centuries of accumulation, their methods and heritage have become truly terrifying."
Of course, no clan was made up of saints.
Especially a prosperous and powerful clan like the Wen Family; who knows how much bloodshed and plunder they had to go through to reach their current position.
Their accumulated resources were far beyond what an ordinary person could imagine.
Meng Qianxun hugged his teacup, remaining silent. This resonated deeply with him. As a fellow Beast Taming Clan, if they hadn’t ridden on Jinyun Valley’s coattails, it would have taken the concerted efforts of at least four or five more generations to elevate the Meng Family to the status of a Golden Core Clan.
Therefore, the Azure Dragon Hall’s resources and heritage were enough to utterly crush the Meng Family.
"So, are there any particular rumors?"
Chen Che nodded, gesturing for him to continue.
"I’m not entirely sure, but the Dragon-Transformation Pool is one such thing. It’s said the pool can purify a Demon Beast’s bloodline. You know how important a Demon Beast’s bloodline is. If it can undergo Purification and Marrow Cleansing, it’s practically a complete rebirth."
Yu Qian tapped his fingers, offering a pointed reminder.
"As for whether the Dragon-Transformation Pool has any other uses, I do not know."
’In other words, I’ll be facing a Demon Beast even more terrifying than before.’
Chen Che gave a slight nod.
The importance of a bloodline needed no further explanation. One only had to compare a Dragon Turtle to an ordinary tortoise to see the vast difference.
"As for Wen Yangxi managing to survive and return to the battlefield, it’s not all that surprising. The Wen Family has a deep heritage; they must have collected all sorts of rare and bizarre Celestial and Earthly Treasures over the years. And let’s not forget, Wen Yangxi has been out of the public eye for centuries. His experience traveling the world far surpasses my own."
"Although his personal strength will be greatly diminished, he is a Beast Master. When you factor everything in, his overall combat power will likely have increased..."
Yu Qian went on and on, speaking for well over an hour.
From this, Chen Che learned a great many secrets.
For now, he was confident that Little Chick’s bloodline was in no way inferior to its opponent’s, but its cultivation and age were still a far cry from the Clawed Flood Dragon’s.
The only good news was that if Little Chick could devour the Clawed Flood Dragon after it had been steeped in the Dragon-Transformation Pool, it would be purely beneficial.
"Thank you, Elder Yu. I have a clear picture of the situation now."
Having asked all he needed to, Chen Che cupped his fists.
The rest would have to be settled on the battlefield.
"It’s a small matter. I would have told you this even if you hadn’t asked. After all, our Yu Family is part of this two-sect alliance."
Yu Qian waved his hand dismissively, but then his tone shifted, and he spoke with some embarrassment, "This old man has a favor to ask."
Chen Che gave a slight nod, waiting for him to continue.
"Could you spare some of your valley’s Divine Court Incense for me? And I’d also like some Fierce Beast Pills. I will pay market price for them."
"No problem. Consider it payment for the Magical Artifacts you’ve crafted, Elder Yu."
Divine Court Incense was something of an open secret in Jinyun Valley, and since Chen Che was so generous with his rewards, it was no surprise that others knew about it.
So he agreed readily and generously produced twelve sticks of Divine Court Incense and a vial containing ten Fierce Beast Pills.
Chen Che also knew that Yu Qian was asking for these things on behalf of his family. Though their two clans weren’t officially allied, their ties were growing ever closer thanks to Yu Qian’s efforts as an intermediary. Whether this was a good or a bad thing, he couldn’t say.
"You are truly magnanimous, Valley Master Chen."
Yu Qian’s eyes lit up.
He had only expected to receive three or four sticks of Divine Court Incense and five Fierce Beast Pills at most.
Chen Che’s generosity—his refusal to be stingy with his own people—was one of the reasons Yu Qian thought so highly of him. He bashfully accepted the items and cupped his fists again. "For the near future, I’ll be recuperating at my clan’s camp. If you need anything, Valley Master Chen, just send word."
After offering a few more words of advice, he finally left the camp.
After watching him leave, Chen Che glanced at the few people still seated, noticing the worried expressions they couldn’t hide.
After all.
At this point in the war, it no longer mattered much whether the other Halls of the two sects fought or not. Yunzhou and Chi State, however, were now tied to this warship for good. Even if all three parties wanted a ceasefire in the future, it would all depend on whether the Azure Dragon Hall was willing.
"There’s no need for any of you to worry. If I defeated Wen Yangxi once, I can defeat him a second time."
Chen Che tapped his fingers, reassuring them. His gaze then shifted to the brightly lit Celestial River Mountain Range in the distance. "The fighting will start again in half a month at the soonest, a month at the latest. I need to enter seclusion first."
...
That night, after the exchange of taunts before the lines, a commotion erupted in the Celestial River Mountain Range. Nearly a thousand Azure Dragon Hall Cultivators poured out from their fortress, leading a force of almost ten thousand in a massive sortie. Clearly, Chen Che’s words had thoroughly provoked the Wen Family cultivators of the Azure Dragon Hall.
The sight threw the cultivators of the two sects into a frenzy of excitement; for a moment, they were even prepared to annihilate the entire enemy force.
But in the end, they hadn’t even traveled a hundred li before they were forcibly recalled.
However, the recall was not without its consequences. From that night on, the construction that had just halted began anew. The massive fortress walls began to rise at a speed visible to the naked eye, growing ever more imposing.
