Tycoon: From Rags to Riches

Chapter 368: No One Dotes on a Sensible Child

  • Next Chapter

Ringing out the old and welcoming the new, the new year had begun.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, the sound of firecrackers was no less intense than it had been Yesterday.

Lin Qingge groggily opened her eyes, her entire body feeling sore and languid. Her legs, in particular, felt utterly boneless.

After being thoroughly attended to by Gu Heng all night, it was only now dawning on her that the words he’d spoken at the dinner table last night hadn’t been mere bravado.

‘Who was it that said that sort of thing only lasts half an hour at most?’

‘What a load of nonsense!’

‘The amateurs should just keep their mouths shut from now on!’

‘They’re just ruining the reputation of the pros!’

Gu Heng had seemed tireless last night. If he hadn’t taken into account that she had a group stream tonight, it probably wouldn’t have ended until dawn.

The memory of all the different ways Gu Heng had toyed with her last night made her blush uncontrollably.

“You’re awake?”

Mortified, Lin Qingge was about to burrow under the covers when Gu Heng’s gentle voice sounded right beside her ear.

She turned her head to look beside her and saw Gu Heng leaning against the headboard, holding a copy of Culture and Society. She could even catch the faint scent of ink from its pages.

Their eyes met. She froze for a few seconds before instantly ducking back under the covers.

However, no sooner had she dived under the covers, her face beet-red, than she shot right back out again.

“What’s wrong?”

“Weren’t you quite insatiable last night?”

Gu Heng asked with a half-smile, “Not a fan anymore today?”

Hearing this, Lin Qingge turned her head and glanced at the clock.

It was 10:30 AM, leaving her less than four hours before she had to head to the company.

Recalling how long Gu Heng had gone last night, and considering the recovery time she’d need afterward, she quickly shook her head. “There’s not enough time. If we go another round, I really won’t be able to stream tonight.”

“How about tonight? Please?”

“I’ll come back as soon as my stream is over, and then… anything you want.”

Lin Qingge wrapped her slender arms around Gu Heng’s waist, her coquettish tone tinged with a hint of pleading.

“So what do we do about this now?”

Gu Heng said, his gaze shifting downward suggestively.

Seeing his obvious intentions, Lin Qingge shot him a flirtatious eye-roll before saying nothing and sliding back under the covers.

“Haaaah…”

Gu Heng let out a soft breath, his gaze returning to the pages of his book.

This was truly a case of—

With ears deaf to the deeds down below, and a mind intent on the wisdom of sages!

…

For the next few days, Gu Heng was basically a homebody.

He would sleep in, then have a round of “morning exercise” with Lin Qingge.

After their workout, Lin Qingge would rest for a bit before heading downstairs to make breakfast.

Though they called it breakfast, it was nearly noon by the time they ate.

It had to be said, Lin Qingge was an excellent cook. She was particularly skilled at simple, home-style stir-fries, and they tasted fantastic.

Gu Heng had originally planned to just order takeout for breakfast during the New Year holiday and have the various restaurants under the Zhen Cui Group deliver dinner on rotation. But now, with Lin Qingge around, they were completely self-sufficient for their morning meal.

After they finished breakfast each day, Lin Qingge would pack up and get ready for work at Xingchuan Entertainment. After she left, Gu Heng would work out for two hours, then devote the rest of his time to reading.

Ever since that day of his dream-like awakening, reading had become Gu Heng’s top priority. Everything else had to take a backseat.

He would read until 8:30 PM each day, which was when Lin Qingge would punctually return.

Once she was back, the two of them would have dinner together.

After dinner, they would either take a bath together or watch a movie.

Well…

The beginning didn’t matter; the process and the ending were always the same.

Having just tasted the forbidden fruit, Lin Qingge was now in that stage of having acquired a taste for it and wanting more. As for Gu Heng, he was at the peak of his infatuation with the spirited and pure beauty.

The two of them spent five shameless, unrestrained days together. During this time, Gu Heng gave Lin Qingge the same treatment he gave Feng Yao.

All manner of top-tier luxury clothing and handbags were laid out for Lin Qingge to choose from as if they were common vegetables.

In addition, Gu Heng also paid to promote the videos on Lin Qingge’s personal TikTok account. After he threw real money at it, the results were obvious: Lin Qingge’s follower count skyrocketed.

…

The fifth day of the Lunar New Year, known as “Po Wu,” is a day for welcoming the God of Wealth.

On this day, the streets and alleys were filled with the sound of firecrackers from morning till night, the barrage even more intense than on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

According to the elders, once the fifth day of the new year passes, the holiday celebrations are considered over.

For the vast majority of young people from the Northeast, the end of the fifth day meant that the suitcases, left open for many days, would be closed tonight as they prepared to embark on their return journeys.

The trip known as “going home” would officially end tomorrow.

In the afternoon, after dropping Lin Qingge off at the Xingchuan International Group Headquarters, Gu Heng turned the car around and headed toward Skyline City in the Nanguan district.

After parking in the underground garage, Gu Heng took the elevator to the ground floor and walked briskly toward his arranged meeting spot with Luo Xiwen.

Gu Heng had spent almost the entire New Year holiday with Lin Qingge.

Now, it was time to spread the love around a bit.

Jiang Ruan and Xu Mo were still back in their hometowns, but Luo Xiwen had been in Beichun the whole time, since her family was from there.

Luo Xiwen had actually asked to meet a few days earlier, but Gu Heng had felt the festive New Year atmosphere outside was too thick. He wasn’t a fan of the whole happy-family-reunion vibe, so he’d made an excuse to turn her down.
