Chapter 75: Chapter 75: I Thought of You as a Good Friend, But You Want to Sleep with Me?
The summer night was cool, the sky dotted with twinkling stars.
Gu Heng and Xu Mo stood under a willow tree by the road, waiting for his driver, Zhou Sheng, to bring the car over.
They were near the lake, and the evening breeze that drifted over carried a hint of moisture, feeling wonderfully cool and pleasant against their skin.
"Gu Heng, I’m planning to go to the mall tomorrow and sell this phone."
Xu Mo clutched her canvas bag in her left hand while her right held Gu Heng’s. She suddenly turned to him. "I just looked it up online. The official price for the new 256GB iPhone 15 is 6,999 yuan. Considering how in-demand they are right now, if I sell it, I can get at least 6,500 for it. With that money, I won’t have to ask my mom for living expenses for the next four months of my internship."
Gu Heng wasn’t surprised to hear her plan.
If she had chosen to keep the phone for herself, she wouldn’t be the Xu Mo he knew.
Nearly seven thousand yuan was a huge sum of money for Xu Mo.
With that kind of money, the ever-frugal Xu Mo’s quality of life would be significantly better for a long time.
Gu Heng had set the first prize as the latest iPhone 15 precisely because he knew her personality and wanted to make it easy for her to cash it in.
There were some girls he could just throw money at.
But with a girl like Xu Mo, he didn’t want to use money to spoil her kindness and innocence.
"That’s fine."
"I’ll support you no matter what you decide."
Gu Heng smiled warmly, his thumb gently caressing Xu Mo’s soft, smooth hand in his.
"Gu Heng, you’re so good to me."
Xu Mo had lost count of how many times she’d said that today, but she couldn’t help saying it again.
"Because you deserve it, Momo."
Gu Heng gazed at Xu Mo, his voice laced with a unique tenderness.
Hearing his reply, a hint of shyness flickered in Xu Mo’s clear, limpid eyes. Her heart felt as though a jar of honey had just tipped over inside it.
In that moment, even the summer night’s breeze felt exceptionally gentle to her.
"BEEP BEEP—"
With two short honks, Gu Heng’s Maybach GLS 600 pulled up in front of them.
The driver’s-side door opened. Zhou Sheng, wearing white gloves, rounded the front of the car and jogged over to Gu Heng.
"Chairman Gu, your keys."
Without so much as a sideways glance at the new girl beside Gu Heng, Zhou Sheng handed the keys over.
"Thank you, Master Zhou."
Gu Heng gave Zhou Sheng a slight nod. "You can take a cab home. I’ll reimburse the fare."
"Understood."
"Just call me if you need anything else."
With that, Zhou Sheng stepped to the side, opened the front passenger door, and gestured for Xu Mo to get in.
Xu Mo was a little flustered by such courteous treatment.
"Thank you, Master Zhou."
Xu Mo subconsciously gave him a small bow.
Zhou Sheng quickly returned the gesture. "You’re too kind."
Seeing this, Gu Heng smiled and shook his head.
After Xu Mo was seated, Zhou Sheng quickly moved to the driver’s side and opened the door for Gu Heng.
The service was truly impeccable.
"You can head home, Master Zhou."
Gu Heng got into the car, lowered the window to speak to Zhou Sheng, then lightly tapped the accelerator and drove off.
"Momo, what’s your address? I’ll take you home."
Gu Heng said, his eyes on the road.
"My rental is really close to Nanhu Lake, right near Liwang Square."
Xu Mo didn’t refuse his kind offer, mainly because she didn’t want to part from him just yet and hoped to spend a little more time with him.
"Just put the name of your complex into the GPS."
Gu Heng tapped the car’s navigation screen on, his voice tinged with confusion. "You’re interning at Jilin University Ninth Hospital, so why are you renting a place near Liwang Square? Isn’t that a bit far from work?"
"I’m renting with my sister."
Xu Mo explained, "She’s a student at Jilin University, and her campus is near Liwang Square. She usually stays in her dorm but comes home on some weekends."
"Besides, apartments near Liwang Square are cheaper. There’s a huge price difference compared to places around the Ninth Hospital."
Gu Heng asked, "So is your daily commute convenient?"
"It’s very convenient."
Xu Mo nodded repeatedly. "There’s a subway station right near my apartment. It’s only a twenty-minute ride from home to the hospital."
"That’s not bad."
As they talked, Gu Heng soon pulled up in front of Xu Mo’s apartment building.
The complex wasn’t new, but it wasn’t particularly old, either.
At least the property management was still active, and there was a guard at the gate.
Gu Heng parked by the curb, and when he turned off the engine, the interior lights switched on.
"Gu Heng, your finger is bleeding!"
Xu Mo suddenly grabbed his right hand, her voice filled with concern.
"Hm?"
Gu Heng hadn’t even noticed. Hearing her, he looked down and saw a sharp, two-centimeter cut on the back of his index finger, faintly beaded with blood.
"I must have scraped it on something just now."
He wiped at it with his thumb. "It’s nothing. Just a small cut. If I’d found it any later, it probably would have healed on its own."
"But you’ll have to wash up and shower when you get home."
"It’s a small cut, but it won’t heal well if it gets wet."
As she spoke, she opened her canvas bag and started rummaging. "I have a waterproof band-aid in here. You can take it off after you get home and wash up."
Gu Heng watched her earnest expression, smiling. He didn’t refuse her kind offer.
"Found it!"
After rummaging for a while, Xu Mo finally found the band-aid. But in her haste to pull it out, she accidentally tipped over her canvas bag.
In an instant, its contents scattered everywhere.
Lip balm, tissues, a small mirror, a little wooden comb...
’What’s this?’
Gu Heng’s gaze suddenly froze. He reached out and picked up a small, square box.
When he saw what was on the packaging, his expression became absolutely priceless.
Xu Mo was still busy gathering her scattered things. When she looked up and saw what Gu Heng was holding, she was like a startled kitten. Her hand moved in a blur, instantly snatching the object back from him.
The next second, Xu Mo felt her heart leap into her throat, and a faint pink blush spread over her entire body.
Faced with Gu Heng’s astonished gaze, Xu Mo’s first instinct was to open the door and flee. But before her hand could touch the handle, Gu Heng preemptively locked the doors.
"Momo..."
Gu Heng wrapped an arm around Xu Mo’s slender waist, leaning in slightly. His eyes danced with amusement. "I never would have guessed. Here I was, thinking of you as a good friend, and you want to sleep with me?"
"N-no... it’s not like that."
Xu Mo was so flustered she was practically incoherent. "Sister Dan made me put it in my bag! It’s my first time even seeing one..."
Gu Heng watched her flustered, shy, and utterly charming expression, a perfect picture of a blushing beauty.
Unconsciously, the brightly lit car interior began to dim, leaving only the glow of the Maybach’s 64-color ambient lighting.
Unable to bear the shyness any longer, Xu Mo finally peeked up at Gu Heng when he remained silent.
In an instant, their eyes met.
Gazing at Xu Mo’s small, cherry-red lips, which looked so vibrant and inviting, Gu Heng didn’t hesitate. He lowered his head and gently pressed his lips to hers...
