Ugly, Fat, and Vicious? My Five Beast Husbands Are Obsessed Anyway
Chapter 131 - 133: Nantu’s Self-Conquest
Chapter 131: Chapter 133: Nantu’s Self-Conquest
CREAK. The wooden door was pushed open.
Su Luoluo stepped into the room. Nantu swallowed hard and followed her in.
This was his first time entering Su Luoluo’s cabin. Compared to the simple huts in the tribe, the things in her room seemed much more refined.
To the left of the entrance stood two white tree trunks with a white wooden pole laid across them. She had used small pieces of wood to fashion strange little hangers, which were perfect for hanging Beast Skin Skirts on.
Hung in order by size, they looked incredibly neat.
This was completely different from how she had lived in the cave before.
He remembered that when she lived in the cave, her clothes were always thrown in a messy pile, and she didn’t have nearly as many as she did now...
The clothes hanging on the rack were of all different styles and materials; they must have been the ones Luan Ting had helped her make.
His eyes swept lightly over the row of clothes, and at the very end, he saw a short skirt made from a yellow, leopard-print beast skin. The skirt was so short it looked like it would barely cover her bottom.
He suddenly recalled that she had once hit him over the head with it.
At the thought, his ears flushed red again.
To the right was a wooden table she had made. On it sat a few bamboo tubes and a large earthenware pot filled with an arrangement of yellow and green wildflowers, which gave off a fresh, elegant air.
Farther along was a pit lined with stones and filled with a good amount of firewood, presumably for her daily fires.
And next to that was a bed made of layered beast skins.
His face flushed with embarrassment again when he saw the bed.
’This place seems a little small, but it should be big enough for my fishtail.’
Su Luoluo walked straight over to the simple wooden table, picked up a mirror, and was turning to show it to Nantu.
But she found Nantu staring at her beast skin bedding, his fair face an unusual shade of red. She jumped in surprise. "Are you sick? Why is your face so red?"
It was no exaggeration to say that his once fair, smooth face was now completely crimson.
Because his skin was so fair, the color stood out starkly on his face, making him look as if he had a fever.
Nantu touched his face at her words, for once so embarrassed he was at a loss for what to say.
Noticing Su Luoluo was still staring at him, he averted his gaze and said, "It’s probably just too hot."
Su Luoluo didn’t doubt him. ’But he can soak in a hot spring, and he’s still afraid of the heat? Beastman body temperatures really are something else.’
She marveled silently to herself, then held the mirror out to him. "This is what you meant, right? It’s called a mirror."
Nantu was slightly taken aback to see the mirror; he hadn’t expected Su Luoluo to show it to him first.
’He thought she would just...’
He lowered his gaze for a moment. Once his expression returned to normal, he looked at the sparkling object in Su Luoluo’s hand. A single glance was all it took for him to be utterly captivated.
’This thing is incredible! It reflects my image so clearly.’
He immediately reached out, took it, and began to study his reflection.
’He wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t looked, but a glance was enough to startle him. How did my face get this red?’
’Especially my cheeks—they’re completely flushed. And my ears have turned bright red, too.’
’It’s like they’ve been scalded by hot water.’
’No wonder Su Luoluo thought I was sick.’
He hurried over to the window, and after standing in the breeze for a moment, he finally cooled down a bit.
Once his temperature had returned to normal, he looked down again at the thin sheet in his hand.
He discovered that it could not only show his own reflection, but it could also reflect things outside the window.
He asked in a tone of both surprise and excitement, "What is this mirror made of? How can it show things so clearly?"
Even the clearest water couldn’t reflect one’s nose, eyes, and mouth with such definition, yet this object called a mirror could show even the tiny scales on his face with perfect clarity.
[DING! Congratulations, Host. Nantu’s attraction value has increased to 90. Heartbeat Value has increased to 90!]
Su Luoluo heard the system’s robotic announcement without a flicker of surprise in her eyes.
’I knew it. Nantu is only interested in this kind of stuff.’
And just as she expected, his very next question was, "How is this mirror made?"
’Making this mirror is a bit complicated; it requires a series of chemical reactions.’
’Simply put, it’s created on a glass surface through a silver-mirror reaction using silver nitrate, ammonia, and sugar.’
’Industrial glass is impossible to find in a primitive society, so I used obsidian—a natural glass composed mostly of silicon dioxide—as a substitute.’
’As for the silver nitrate, I used the detection ability of my Gold Element Superpower to find silver ore and reacted it with saltpeter.’
’I made nitric acid by grinding saltpeter and wood ash into a fine powder, steeping the mixture in hot water at a specific ratio, and then allowing it to crystallize.’
’Then, I crushed the silver ore and combined it with the nitric acid to produce silver nitrate.’
’The ammonia was made simply by soaking crude salt from the Salt Well, which contains natural ammonium salts, making it relatively easy to produce.’
’For the sugar, I found sugar beets not far from the hot spring. I made it by chopping and boiling them, then processing the liquid through evaporation.’
’But there’s no way I could explain all this to Nantu.’
Su Luoluo could only pick up a piece of obsidian ground into a thin sheet and offer a simplified explanation. "You grind this silvery stone into a powder, mix it with a certain kind of earth, and then add the things in the bamboo tubes on my table. That’s how you make it."
The tubes contained various powders Su Luoluo had already purified. Hearing her explanation, Nantu picked one up and took a look.
The more he looked, the more incredible it seemed. ’These powders can make a mirror this bright?’
’I’ve only ever seen these kinds of bottles and jars at the Wizard’s place. I never expected Su Luoluo to know about this stuff too.’
At this thought, he couldn’t help but steal a few more glances at Su Luoluo.
Sunlight slanted in through the window, bathing her in a light that seemed to coat her in a golden sheen. She was so radiant he thought she was literally glowing.
His heart began to pound in his chest again. THUMP-THUMP. Su Luoluo wasn’t what you’d call beautiful, but her talent and intelligence made his heart flutter uncontrollably.
He set the mirror down, his eyes drifting unconsciously to the spot below her neck.
The very sight that had replayed in his mind several times the previous night.
With deliberate steps, he slowly walked toward her.
’Even though I managed to make this mirror,’ Su Luoluo thought, ’the craftsmanship is nothing compared to what they had in the Post-apocalypse.’
’Still, being able to make something like this in a primitive society is pretty darn good.’
At that thought, Su Luoluo felt another swell of pride in herself.
’I definitely managed to farm a good amount of Nantu’s Heartbeat and attraction values this time.’
’A suckling pig is pretty big. I should get the seasonings ready. As soon as Fu Feng and the others finish washing it, I can baste it and start the fire for the roast.’
With that in mind, Su Luoluo turned around, ready to leave the room.
But when she turned, she found Nantu standing right in front of her, his eyes fixed on her. She had no idea when he’d moved.
"Nantu, you—"
Before Su Luoluo could finish, he reached out, tilted her chin up, and lowered his head to kiss her.
[DING! Congratulations, Host. Nantu’s Heartbeat Value has reached 99. Attraction value has reached 99!]
