Ugly, Fat, and Vicious? My Five Beast Husbands Are Obsessed Anyway
Chapter 135 - 137: A Love Rival?
Chapter 135: Chapter 137: A Love Rival?
The five men followed Su Luoluo. Seeing that she was talking, they didn’t interrupt and simply continued to follow her in silence.
"Besides me and Luan Ting, everyone else in the tribe has been poisoned."
"What about Luan Ting?"
"Luan Ting went to find the Wizard."
The two of them talked as they walked, and it wasn’t long before they reached the tribe’s settlement.
It was supposed to be evening, the time when smoke from cooking fires would be rising into the air. But right now, the tribe’s settlement was deathly quiet. If you listened closely, you could even hear the wails of females and beastmen.
Su Luoluo scanned the area. Most people had crawled out of their wooden huts and were writhing on the ground, drooling uncontrollably. Their symptoms all seemed to be different.
Even Lan Ya, who would normally have a few critical words for her whenever they met, was now curled up on the ground to one side, looking exceptionally weak.
When Su Yang saw Su Luoluo arrive, he propped himself up and spoke with great difficulty, "Until Luan Ting gets back, I’m leaving the people of this tribe in your hands."
Su Luoluo nodded. "Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everyone."
After speaking, Su Yang gasped for several heavy breaths. He seemed to want to say more, but Su Luoluo stopped him.
She looked at his weakened state and said, "You’re not well, so don’t exert yourself. I’m going to ask you a few questions now. Just nod or shake your head."
"Are you having trouble breathing right now?"
Su Yang nodded.
"Besides that, do you have any other symptoms?"
Su Yang shook his head.
After checking on Su Yang, Su Luoluo glanced at Lan Ya nearby. Just as she was about to speak, she noticed Lan Ya suddenly begin to drool uncontrollably. Other than some weakness, she had no other symptoms.
After observing her, Su Luoluo moved on. Nearby, Su Zhao was clutching his stomach, having to run off again and again.
Su Luoluo frowned at him. "Are you having diarrhea?"
Su Zhao was so drained from the diarrhea he was on the verge of collapsing. Hearing Su Luoluo’s question, he was too weak to speak and could only manage a feeble nod.
She had only examined a few people, but all their symptoms were different. Su Luoluo’s expression grew grim.
Even the "White Lotus" Su Nuannuan’s face was frighteningly pale today, lying motionless and weak on a beast skin blanket.
After checking these few, Su Luoluo went on to examine all the other sick people in the tribe one by one. Although everyone’s symptoms varied, the majority suffered from one of three things: diarrhea, difficulty breathing, or uncontrollable drooling.
’It’s like they’ve eaten something bad.’
Her Wood Element Ability wasn’t strong enough to save so many people at once, so Su Luoluo had to find the cause herself.
Ever since they migrated here after the flood, the tribespeople had been living here without any issues. Nothing like this had ever happened, so it probably wasn’t a problem with the location itself.
Besides, Luan Ting and the messenger who had just arrived also lived here, and they weren’t feeling any discomfort.
’If it’s not the location, then it might be a problem with the drinking water or the food.’
But she and the rest of the tribe all drank from the same deep pool. She and her beastmen were completely fine, so that meant the water was probably not the issue either.
After ruling out the possible causes, Su Luoluo turned to the young Wolf Clan messenger and asked, "Did anything unusual happen in the tribe today?"
She had spent the entire day either with Nantu or roasting a suckling pig and hadn’t come over to the main settlement, so she was completely unaware of what had happened here.
The wolf-eared youth recalled, "Today was no different from usual. We ate wild fruits in the morning, and after lunch, we went out hunting."
"You make your own lunch now?"
The wolf-eared youth nodded. "Yes. Ever since the tribespeople learned how to make pottery pots from you and were given salt, we’ve all been cooking for ourselves."
Before, salt was a precious commodity and could only be used in limited quantities, so Lan Ya was in charge of cooking and rationing it out based on population.
Now that the tribe could purify its own salt, Su Yang no longer had Lan Ya do all the cooking.
It sounded like nothing was out of the ordinary. Unable to find any useful clues, Su Luoluo focused her attention on the person in front of her. "What did you do today?"
’So many people are sick, but he’s perfectly fine. He might have coincidentally avoided something that the others were exposed to.’
"Me?" The Wolf Clan youth scratched his head. "My day was pretty much the same as usual. I did the same things as everyone else in the tribe. Nothing special."
As Su Luoluo listened to the Wolf Clan youth, she quickly ran through the facts about Luan Ting, who was also unaffected. A sudden thought struck her, and she asked the young man, "Have you eaten dinner yet?"
The Wolf Clan youth shook his head, embarrassed. "Not yet. I’m not a good cook, so I wasn’t sure what to eat."
Su Luoluo thought for a moment. "Can I see your salt?"
"Sister Luoluo, are you saying you suspect the salt? But you’re the one who taught everyone how to make it. You’ve been eating it for so long, there shouldn’t be a problem, right?"
"Just let me see it first!" Su Luoluo also felt it was unlikely, but the fact that Luan Ting hadn’t eaten today either made her suspicious.
Hearing this, the Wolf Clan youth ducked into his wooden hut and came out a moment later carrying a beast skin bag of salt.
The snow-white salt looked fine at first glance. Su Luoluo sifted some of it to the side and discovered many small, yellow granules mixed in.
Her expression immediately tensed. "How long have you all been eating this salt?"
The Wolf Clan youth said, "We’ve been eating it since the leader distributed it the day before yesterday. But since I’m a bad cook, I haven’t eaten much of it."
Su Luoluo looked thoughtful. She instructed the Wolf Clan youth, "I know what’s going on. Have everyone in the tribe gather in the main square."
With that, she ran back to her outdoor kitchen, grabbed the sugar jar, and brought it back along with a few bowls. After mixing sugar and water evenly in a bowl, she handed it to Su Zhao. "Drink this. You’ll feel better immediately."
Before Su Zhao could take it, Su Nuannuan spoke up, her voice weak. "Luoluo, what is that stuff? Are you sure it’s safe to drink?"
As soon as Su Nuannuan said this, Su Zhao hesitated.
"I’m sure it’s safe. Since Luoluo can make salt and pottery, I believe there’s no problem with this either," Su Yang said slowly, having seen the exchange.
"I believe her too," Cai Xia and Ah Zhu added weakly after Su Yang finished speaking.
Su Nuannuan bit her lip and said in a small voice, "Why don’t we just wait for the Wizard to get here? Luoluo doesn’t know how to treat illnesses. What if we drink the wrong thing?"
"Sister Nuannuan, don’t be afraid. Sister Luoluo said there’s a problem with the salt, so you just need to throw it up," the Wolf Clan Beastman added, seeing Su Nuannuan’s unease.
"Are you saying there’s a problem with the salt Luoluo made for us?" Su Nuannuan immediately seized on the key point, her tone surprised.
"If there were a problem with the salt *I* made, I wouldn’t be standing here perfectly fine. I’m afraid some things... were done intentionally by certain people."
"What do you mean?" Su Nuannuan asked, confused.
Su Luoluo ignored Su Nuannuan and scanned the crowd of tribespeople. "If you all want to live, then do as I say. It’s not like trying it will hurt you."
"Listen carefully. First, make yourselves vomit up all the salt you’ve ingested. Once you’ve thrown it all up, come to me and get a bowl of the same water Su Zhao is having. After you drink it, you’ll be fine."
Hearing this, the beastmen all started to move. After inducing vomiting, they drank Su Luoluo’s miraculous water.
After a while, they were actually getting better.
Su Nuannuan watched the people recovering one after another with a look of utter shock. Su Luoluo actually knew how to save people too.
While Su Luoluo bustled about, her beastmen had been silently helping without getting in her way. Seeing her save everyone, they were filled with pride.
Fu Feng, remembering the look Su Luoluo had given him, took a step forward, intending to tell her he would go find her tonight.
But he had barely taken a single step when a voice descended from the sky. "Luoluo, are you all right?"
He looked up to see a handsome White Tiger Beastman, dressed in a white tiger-skin kilt and wearing an obsidian ornament on his head, looking down at Su Luoluo as he asked his question.
’Isn’t that Bai Meng?’
It wasn’t just Fu Feng who heard this. Xiao Ye, Mo Xuan, and Xi Yi also instantly shot sharp glares toward the White Tiger.
