Ugly, Fat, and Vicious? My Five Beast Husbands Are Obsessed Anyway
Chapter 265 - 267: Heavenly God’s Guidance
Chapter 265: Chapter 267: Heavenly God’s Guidance
Bai Meng looked at the person before him, a hint of joy in his heart, but his face remained impassive. "Luoluo, are you asking about your brother? He’s been..."
"No, that’s not what I’m asking about." Su Luoluo interrupted before Bai Meng could finish.
Su Luoluo had never held much affection for Su Zhao. Although her opinion had shifted slightly after a few words from Hong Shuang, she couldn’t deny that her first impression of him had been a poor one.
Seeing him so dejected now only made her sigh; it didn’t stir any sympathy.
’With Lan Ya’s personality, and his own clueless nature, he might not have been able to live a happy life with Hong Shuang even if they had formed a Contract Totem.’
"Then what did you want to ask, Luoluo...?"
Having lived in the tribe for so long, he had more or less figured out that Su Zhao and Su Luoluo didn’t have a good relationship.
’My brother isn’t bad at heart, he’s just got a screw loose. It’s understandable that Luoluo doesn’t like him.’
Su Luoluo had expected Bai Meng to scold her, but he didn’t say a word. ’It seems Su Zhao’s friend is much more clear-headed than he is.’
Su Luoluo paused for a moment before continuing, "You’ve been to the cliff’s edge so many times recently. Have you seen Su Nuannuan’s body?"
Ever since Hong Shuang fell from the cliff, a heartbroken Su Zhao had been searching the area, hoping she was still alive.
Seeing his son in so much pain, Su Yang had initially sent people to help him search a few times. But after their efforts proved fruitless, he urged his son to let it go. Su Zhao, however, refused to give up.
Afraid something might happen to him, he had Bai Meng stay by his side.
Su Luoluo had been busy with her cub and Dongfang Luanhe these past few days, so she hadn’t inquired about it.
"Su Nuannuan?" Bai Meng shook his head. "We’ve been searching for many days, but we’ve mostly found animal carcasses. We haven’t seen her body or Hong Shuang’s."
"Is there a reason you’re asking about Su Nuannuan, Luoluo?" Bai Meng asked, a little worried.
"It’s nothing. I’ve just been feeling a bit uneasy lately, and I want to know if she’s still alive." Su Luoluo didn’t tell him the truth, simply making up an excuse.
’After all, what the system said was so baseless. No one would believe her if she just brought it up out of the blue.’
"The cliff they jumped from is quite deep. We’ve pretty much searched the nearby area. We’ll have to keep searching further out. If you want to know, Luoluo, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait," Bai Meng said after a moment of thought.
He was currently at the Fifth Rank. With a bit more cultivation, he could evolve to the Half-Fifth Rank, and then he’d be able to go straight down.
Su Luoluo remembered Mo Xuan mentioning that there were quite a few "big things" down there. Although she didn’t know what they were, even the Fifth-Rank Mo Xuan had sounded quite wary when speaking of them. Su Luoluo guessed that whatever was at the bottom must be very dangerous.
’It’s just a hunch, anyway. It’s not worth taking such a huge risk.’
She shook her head and said, "No, don’t. It’s too dangerous down there. I’ll just have to think of another way to calm my nerves."
Fu Feng was trailing behind them, his eyes practically shooting fire as he tried to see what they were up to. After waiting for ages, all he heard was some talk about feeling uneasy and looking for Su Nuannuan.
’Why even bother looking for Su Nuannuan?’
’That’s Black Wind Cliff. It’s swallowed up plenty of things.’
’That vicious female Su Nuannuan definitely couldn’t have survived a fall down there.’
’As for feeling uneasy...’ Fu Feng’s eyes darted around. ’Pendants made from Heavenly Tung Wood are very effective for that. Looks like I need to make a trip home.’
Su Luoluo was so preoccupied with the system’s warning that she didn’t notice Fu Feng hiding nearby.
With that said, she turned and left.
Bai Meng, however, did see him but didn’t react. He was already used to her Beastmen guarding against him as if he were a thief.
...
After arguing with Su Zhao, Lan Ya went back to her room to sleep.
Su Yang was busy coordinating with the city-state during the day and wasn’t in their room, leaving her alone on the wooden bed.
At first, she tossed and turned, feeling a wave of melancholy as she thought about how coldly Su Zhao had treated her.
Then, she started thinking it was all Su Luoluo’s fault. ’Why did she have to call Su Zhao over for no reason? If he hadn’t come, he wouldn’t have seen Hong Shuang jump off the cliff and die, and he wouldn’t be blaming me for it.’
As her thoughts drifted, she suddenly fell asleep.
Suddenly, a white mist appeared in her dream. Then, a figure waving black crow feathers materialized in the air, calling out her name. "Lan Ya, since you have reached out to me in your dreams, I shall relieve you of your worries today."
"Who are you? Why do you know my name?" Lan Ya asked, her face a mask of terror as she stared ahead.
"What, you don’t recognize the one you piously worship every day?" the figure’s voice boomed with authority.
"Heavenly God! You’re the Heavenly God!" At these words, Lan Ya immediately dropped to her knees, her expression one of pure devotion. "This humble one was blind and failed to recognize your greatness. I have offended the Heavenly God, please forgive me."
"Seeing how devout you are, I will show you a clear path today."
"A clear path? What clear path?"
"Have you not felt recently that nothing is going your way, that your life is not as good as it used to be?"
Lan Ya nodded. "Heavenly God, that’s exactly right."
"It is only right that you feel this way. It is because someone who jinxes you has appeared by your side."
"Someone who... who jinxes me?" Lan Ya was both shocked and furious. "Who? Who is jinxing me?"
"Far on the horizon, yet right before your eyes. It is the one closest to you."
"The one closest to me? Heavenly God, can you be more specific?"
"Heaven’s secrets must not be revealed. However, given your piousness, I shall give you a hint. This person was not by your side before; they only arrived later."
’Not here before, only arrived later, and is someone close to me.’
The thought barely crossed Lan Ya’s mind before she instantly thought of someone.
’No wonder my life has been getting worse and worse,’ she thought. ’So that wretched girl really is a jinx to me.’
’Of course she’s a jinx!’
’Ever since Su Luoluo inexplicably received the Heavenly God’s guidance, of the two children she cared for, one was dead and the other full of resentment. Not a single good thing had happened.’
At this thought, she panicked and asked, "Heavenly God, what should I do?"
The figure in the air waved a finger, instantly conjuring a piece of talisman paper with gold-trimmed edges that emanated black smoke. They handed the talisman to Lan Ya and said, "This is a Harmonization Talisman. Burn this talisman paper, mix the ashes in water, and make the person who jinxes you drink it. From then on, they will no longer have any effect on you."
"Be warned, you must give this to her secretly. If she finds out, the talisman will lose its power."
After receiving the talisman, Lan Ya cradled it as if it were a priceless treasure. She kowtowed piously to the figure in the air. "Thank you for your guidance, Heavenly God. I will do exactly as you say."
"Heavenly God, my son and I are at odds right now. Do you have a way to make our relationship as good as it once was?"
Having gotten what she wanted, Lan Ya eagerly asked another question. But after waiting a long time with no response, she looked up to find the figure had vanished without a trace.
Lan Ya stared at the dissipating white mist, feeling a little empty inside. The Heavenly God hadn’t answered her new question.
The Hua Witch retracted her magic. Seeing the person kneeling on the ground, her face filled with contempt. "Truly insatiable. Asking one question after another."
When Lan Ya awoke from her dream, she felt around under her covers. After discovering the talisman was really there, beneath the beast skin, a flash of joy crossed her face, only to be replaced by a sinister look.
’I absolutely cannot let Su Luoluo jinx me!’
