Ultimate Master in the City
Chapter 229: The Last Trump Card
Chapter 229: Chapter 229: The Last Trump Card
Yamamoto Jun’s acupoint-sealing technique was incredibly vicious. Guan Chengyun found he couldn’t even unblock the sealed points. He took a deep breath to steady himself and carefully inserted a few needles, but Guan Peng showed no reaction whatsoever.
Guan Chengyun’s expression turned grim.
Just then, Yamamoto Jun, still on the stage, looked at Guan Chengyun and chuckled. "My unique acupoint-sealing technique cannot be undone by anyone. He can expect to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. This is the price he pays for disrespecting me."
"You..." Guan Chengyun stared at Yamamoto Jun, his eyes turning cold. "Your methods are far too malicious."
Yamamoto Jun looked back at Guan Chengyun and laughed. "So what if I’m malicious? What can you do to me? If you don’t like it, come up here and test me."
"You..." Guan Chengyun’s face darkened with rage as he glared at Yamamoto Jun. "Such an arrogant brat. Fine. Then I’ll come up and have a go with you. Today, I’ll make you pay for your insolence."
With that, he stepped directly onto the stage.
The crowd saw this and collectively breathed a sigh of relief.
With Guan Chengyun on the stage, this match was a sure win.
Guan Chengyun looked at Yamamoto Jun and snorted. "You used acupuncture to defeat my grandson. I’d like to challenge your skills in that area as well."
Yamamoto Jun chuckled and nodded. "Fine. Today, I’ll make sure you leave here on your stomach."
"I’m afraid the one leaving on their stomach today will be you," Guan Chengyun retorted with a cold snort. "Let’s decide who goes first."
But Yamamoto Jun just chuckled. "No need. You’re old. I’ll let you go first."
"You..." Guan Chengyun was so livid at Yamamoto Jun’s arrogance that he felt his lungs might burst. He wanted nothing more than to walk over and slap him across the face, but he quickly suppressed his rage. He stared at Yamamoto Jun and snorted. "You will pay for this arrogance. Take this!"
With that, he picked up a handful of silver needles and thrust them with incredible speed toward Yamamoto Jun’s major acupoints.
Guan Chengyun’s technique was flawless and astonishingly fast, a whole level above Guan Peng’s.
The crowd once again sighed in relief. There was no suspense left in this match.
But to everyone’s utter shock, Yamamoto Jun’s speed at removing the needles suddenly increased. No matter how fast Guan Chengyun sealed an acupoint, Yamamoto Jun was able to pull out the previous needle just as the next one was being inserted. By the time Guan Chengyun had used all his needles, not a single one remained on Yamamoto Jun’s body.
The crowd stared at Yamamoto Jun, dumbfounded. ’How could this guy be so fast?’
A flicker of apprehension crossed Guan Chengyun’s eyes as he looked at Yamamoto Jun, but he quickly composed himself. He said coldly, "This round is nothing more than a draw."
Yamamoto Jun looked back at him and sneered. "A draw? You wish. I said I’d make you leave on your stomach, and I always keep my word."
With that, he thrust the silver needles in his hand toward Guan Chengyun’s major acupoints.
"You think you’re worthy?" Guan Chengyun’s right hand shot out like lightning, plucking the needles from his acupoints with incredible speed. At first, he could keep up, but his face slowly turned pale. He discovered that Yamamoto Jun’s speed was increasing significantly. A full five silver needles were left lodged in his body, sealing both of his hands. His legs were next. In the end, both his hands and feet were completely sealed. He stood there like a statue, unable to move.
Guan Chengyun stared at Yamamoto Jun, stunned. The entire audience below the stage was stunned.
The great Guan Chengyun, ranked first on the Divine Hands of Medicine list in the Great Xia Country, a master whose skills were unparalleled in the world of Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine, had also had his acupoints sealed and lost the match? This... how could this be possible?
But looking at the mummy-like Guan Chengyun, everyone had to admit that this was reality.
Even Guan Chengyun had been defeated by a junior. In all of Great Xia, the only one with medical skills possibly stronger than Guan Chengyun’s was Feng Qingwu. And yet, this was just a junior from Japan; his master, Kato Changkong, had yet to even appear.
Even if they managed to defeat Japan, Goryeo was still to come. And the Goryeo National Preceptor’s medical skills were said to be even more terrifying...
The hearts of the crowd sank to rock bottom. In this competition, was Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine going to be utterly trampled?
Some people could no longer hold back their tears and began to cry.
Everyone’s eyes were filled with despair.
At this moment, Yamamoto Jun on the stage pointed a finger at Feng Qingwu and spoke with overwhelming arrogance, "I told you to come up here earlier, but you wouldn’t listen. You let all this trash come up and embarrass themselves. Now do you believe me?"
"Let me make myself clear. If you still refuse to come up and keep sending this other trash to waste my time, I guarantee you, for every one that comes up, I’ll kill one. Not a single one will leave here alive. So, you might as well come up and face your death! Today’s championship will belong to Japan. Your Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine is destined to be crushed under our feet."
The crowd was livid at Yamamoto Jun’s arrogance. They looked at Feng Qingwu and roared in anger, "Chairman Feng, get on stage! Knock that arrogant bastard off the stage!"
Feng Qingwu slowly rose to her feet, glanced behind her with a sigh, and then turned to walk toward the stage.
’Ye Feng must have been held up by something urgent. He’s not coming!’
The next moment, she bit her red lip, turned with determination, and walked toward the stage.
’This fight is too dangerous. Even if Ye Feng were here, I wouldn’t let him go on stage. How could I let him face such a risk?’
’Ye Feng doesn’t have to go on stage, but I do.’
’She was the last trump card for Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine, the people’s only hope. No matter if it was a mountain of knives or a sea of fire ahead, she had to act.’
’This was her duty as the Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association.’
Beside her, Guan Peng saw Feng Qingwu and shrieked, "Chairman Feng, you can’t! That bastard is cruel and merciless! If you go up there, you could end up crippled like me!"
Feng Qingwu replied calmly, "As the Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association, I must act. I will defend the dignity of our medicine, no matter the cost."
Guan Peng was overcome with anxiety. He desperately wanted to go and help Feng Qingwu, but in the end, he could only sigh and shake his head in helplessness. ’I really don’t have the ability!’
But just then, an aged voice sounded from behind them. "Indeed. It would be a real shame if such a great beauty were to get hurt."
As the voice faded, two old men walked over, one behind the other.
The one in front was nearly eighty, with a bent and hunched back. His face was a mass of dark, leathery wrinkles.
He coughed as he shuffled along, so frail and unsteady that you’d worry he might just keel over at any second.
And yet, he was, against all odds, still alive.
Everyone looked at this old man with confusion. ’Which nursing home left its gate open and let this one out?’
But when the crowd saw the old man following behind the first one, their eyes lit up.
