Chapter 233: Chapter 233: Battle of Life and Death

Down in the audience, Feng Qingwu’s face fell. She looked at Ye Feng and cried out urgently,

"Don’t agree to it! His knowledge of poisons is unparalleled! No one can match him!"

But her words had barely faded when she heard Ye Feng’s calm voice. "Why wouldn’t I dare?"

"You..." Feng Qingwu glared at Ye Feng, exasperated. ’Why won’t he listen?’

Ye Feng turned to look at Feng Qingwu and spoke with resonant power, "Chairman Feng, I know poisons are his specialty. That’s why today, I will defeat him in the very field he excels at. I will make sure these Goryeo curs never dare to look down on our Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine again!

Today, I will make Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine stand at the pinnacle of the world!"

His words rang out, powerful and deafening, seeming to soar into the heavens.

"Well said!"

Everyone in the audience erupted in applause and cheers. The wave of sound was so powerful it felt as if it could lift Ye Feng off his feet.

"Excellent! Excellent! Hello, everyone! Thank you for your support!" Ye Feng clasped one hand behind his back, giving a small, benevolent wave with the other, a kind expression on his face.

Nearby, Park Yong-sin watched the flamboyant Ye Feng and snarled through gritted teeth, "You piece of filth, you should be worrying about whether you’ll even survive this!"

Ye Feng looked at Park Yong-sin with a smile. "Don’t you worry. Today’s outcome is already set in stone. You will die, and I will live. Your Goryeo medicine will kneel before the might of Great Xia Traditional Chinese Medicine and beg for mercy!"

"You..." Park Yong-sin was so furious he felt his lungs might explode. "Enough talk! Let’s see what you’ve got!"

With that, he turned to the nearby cart of medicinal ingredients and began selecting his herbs.

Feng Qingwu watched Ye Feng, her heart in her throat.

’This is a true battle of life and death! Can Ye Feng really make it through this?’

Just then, Park Yong-sin pulled several herbs from the cart.

Guan Peng saw the herbs Park Yong-sin had chosen and cried out, "Gelsemium, Thunder God Vine, arsenic, red-crested crane poison, oleander... Every single one is a deadly poison! That old man is definitely going to his grave this time!"

But he had barely finished speaking when Feng Qingwu spun around, glared at him, and snapped coldly, "Shut your mouth!"

Guan Peng froze, staring blankly at Feng Qingwu. He couldn’t believe his eyes.

In all the time he had known Feng Qingwu, while she had never been particularly warm to him, she had never berated him so harshly. ’But today, for that old bastard, she’s openly turned on me? How is this possible?’

Guan Peng looked at the wrinkled old man on stage, his eyes filled with disbelief.

’Losing to someone else would have been one thing, but to lose to this wrinkled old man... He just couldn’t accept it. He couldn’t understand where he had gone wrong!’

At that moment, a vicious thought took root in his heart. He actually hoped Park Yong-sin’s poison would kill Ye Feng on the spot, just so he could feel a moment of vindication.

Park Yong-sin tossed the ingredients into a grinder. After pulverizing them, he steeped them in a cup of boiling water. He then turned to look at Ye Feng, only to see him flamboyantly take a Mandala Flower and tuck it into his suit pocket before unhurriedly selecting a few herbs of his own.

Hawthorn fruit, Six Divine Melodies, Pinellia, Coix seed...

When several of the old traditional Chinese medicine doctors in the audience saw this, their eyes nearly popped out of their heads.

’Isn’t that the formula for the Baohe Pill? Is that supposed to be a poison? Of course not! On the contrary, it’s an excellent remedy for strengthening the spleen, nourishing the stomach, and clearing dampness.’

’How could that possibly kill someone?’

The crowd looked at Ye Feng, their hopeful expressions dimming. His acupuncture skills had been astonishing, but it now seemed he knew nothing about poisons at all.

When Park Yong-sin saw Ye Feng grind up those ingredients, steep them in hot water, and place the cup in front of him, he burst into unrestrained laughter.

"Baohe Pills! HAHA, Baohe Pills! You old fool, trying to help me strengthen my spleen and stomach? Why, thank you so much!"

With that, he picked up the cup and downed it in one go. Then he shoved his own concoction in front of Ye Feng and said with a sinister chill, "Your turn."

Ye Feng simply smiled, picked up the cup, and drank.

Park Yong-sin sneered at Ye Feng. "Old man, I assume I won’t be needing an antidote for that?"

Ye Feng smiled and nodded. "That’s right, you won’t. Because no antidote in the world can change your fate—to die by poison!"

"HA HA..." Park Yong-sin roared with laughter. "You shouldn’t be worried about me. Worry about yourself! You have one minute to live. You’d better hurry and find an antidote. Though, let me give you a little reminder: don’t waste your energy. There is no cure for the poison I’ve created!"

Ye Feng took the Mandala Flower from his pocket, held it under his nose, and took a deep sniff, nodding with a look of pure bliss. "What a wonderful fragrance!"

He then extended the flower toward Park Yong-sin with a smile. "Would you like a sniff?"

Park Yong-sin glared at Ye Feng and said coldly, "You have fifty seconds left to live."

Ye Feng waved the flower under Park Yong-sin’s nose a few times, then shook his head. "You have no sense of romance at all."

"You have forty seconds left to live," Park Yong-sin repeated, staring coldly at Ye Feng.

Ye Feng smiled faintly. He held up one hand, fingers splayed, and used his other hand to fold them down one by one, counting down aloud, "Five... four... three..."

"HA HA..." Seeing Ye Feng’s dramatic display, Park Yong-sin burst out laughing again. "Trying to kill someone with a Baohe Pill? Did a donkey kick you in the head?"

"Two... one!" As Ye Feng folded down the last two fingers, Park Yong-sin’s face instantly turned a ghastly, ashen color. His eyes filled with agony, and he shrieked at Ye Feng,

"Impossible! How could a Baohe Pill have poisoned me?"

Ye Feng looked at Park Yong-sin, held up the Mandala Flower, and waved it at him as he spoke calmly.

"A Baohe Pill alone can’t kill a man. But when you add this, it can."

"The Mandala Flower isn’t extremely toxic on its own. But when combined with the Pinellia I used earlier, it becomes an incurable poison!"

Park Yong-sin screamed and staggered toward the nearby cart of ingredients.

Ye Feng shook his head. "I told you, it’s an incurable poison. You don’t have a chance."

His words had barely faded when Park Yong-sin’s legs gave out, and he collapsed to his knees with a THUD.

He turned to look at Ye Feng and suddenly let out a cold laugh. "Old man, my poison is about to take effect. You’re going to die any second now. If you want to live, trade me the antidote for my antidote!"

Ye Feng shook his head and looked at Park Yong-sin with a mocking expression. "Your poison is indeed very potent. But I’ve already cured it."

With that, he held up the Mandala Flower and waved it at Park Yong-sin again. "The Mandala Flower is a poison in its own right, and it has no detoxifying properties whatsoever. And yet, by a strange twist of fate, it is the perfect antidote to the poison you just gave me. So, as you can see, I’m perfectly fine now."

Park Yong-sin stared at Ye Feng, completely frozen, utterly dumbstruck. A moment later, he shrieked, "To have such a profound understanding of the properties of poisons... you can’t possibly be a no-name! Who are you?!"

At Ye Feng’s words, Park Yong-sin immediately shrieked.
