Chapter 284: Chapter 284: Like a Heavenly God Descending

The princess, her eyes red, shook her head and said, "Ye Feng can’t make it. Tonight’s wedding ceremony is canceled!"

She then briefly explained what had happened.

All the sisters froze on the spot, utterly dumbstruck.

After a long moment, Nangong Xue was the first to react. She spoke through clenched teeth,

"I’m going to the Eastern Domain too! If I have to die, I’ll die with him!"

Wang Luyao nodded, echoing her agreement.

But Long Xi’Er fought back her own grief and tried to reason with them. "The battlefield is a slaughterhouse. If we go, our chances of survival are slim. And if Ye Feng comes back only to find us gone, wouldn’t he be heartbroken?

We should stay here and wait for Ye Feng’s return. I have faith in him. He’s capable enough to handle this!"

The sisters, having calmed down a little, nodded with red-rimmed eyes and staggered away.

That night was destined to be a sleepless one for many.

...

「Eastern Domain, Wild Wolf Valley.」

A contingent of soldiers was trapped in Wild Wolf Valley.

They were all covered in blood and barely able to stand, clearly having suffered heavy injuries.

At the very front stood a stunningly beautiful female general in a blood-red battle robe. She stood tall and straight, but her silhouette projected an air of utter desolation.

The Great Xia Eastern Domain War God, Meng Jiaxin.

Just then, her second-in-command approached, his face pale. "Reporting to the War God! I contacted Wu Shuai. He still claims he has no troops to dispatch and cannot send reinforcements!"

A flash of fury ignited in Meng Jiaxin’s eyes. "That bastard! If I make it back, I’ll have him court-martialed!"

But as she looked at the less than one hundred thousand battered soldiers behind her, and then at the endless sea of allied forces blocking the valley entrance, a flicker of despair appeared in her eyes.

’Escaping today will be harder than ascending to the heavens.’

’But I’m their commander, their pillar of strength. I absolutely cannot give up!’

So she turned to face her soldiers and announced in a firm voice, "Men! Reinforcements from the Great Xia Empire will be here soon! Steel yourselves and fight with all your might...!"

Before she could finish, a large, red-haired man in battle armor at the valley’s entrance burst out laughing.

"Still hoping for reinforcements at a time like this? Meng Jiaxin, stop deluding yourself. No one is coming to save you.

You have two choices. One, surrender obediently. Two, all of you die here today! Meng Jiaxin, it would be such a waste for a beauty like you to die. So just surrender peacefully. Marry me and be my concubine, and I’ll guarantee you a lifetime of wealth and luxury. You’ll want for nothing, haha..."

George, the deputy commander of the twelve-nation allied forces.

As soon as George finished speaking, the allied soldiers behind him erupted into raucous laughter.

Meng Jiaxin stared at George, her beautiful face turning to ice. "In your dreams! I, Meng Jiaxin, would sooner die on this battlefield than surrender!"

With that, she brandished her long spear and roared, "Soldiers, charge with me! Break the encirclement!"

"KILL!" Mustering their spirits, the soldiers followed Meng Jiaxin and charged toward the valley entrance.

George watched Meng Jiaxin and her troops, letting out another wild laugh. "You think a bunch of broken soldiers like you can break through our lines? You’re dreaming!"

With a wave of his hand, he bellowed, "Leave Meng Jiaxin alive! Kill everyone else! Go!"

"KILL!" the allied soldiers roared, surging forward like a tidal wave.

Meng Jiaxin glanced one last time in the direction of the Great Xia Empire, her eyes filled with longing. She murmured, "Sisters... farewell. Xiaofeng... farewell. It wasn’t meant to be in this life. See you in the next."

Then, she turned resolutely, swung her long spear, and charged toward the allied forces.

But just then, a RUMBLING sound filled the air. Her second-in-command looked up, then shouted urgently to Meng Jiaxin,

"War God, look!"

Meng Jiaxin stopped in her tracks and looked up, confused. In the next instant, her eyes flew wide open.

A fighter jet streaked across the sky, and below it, a small black dot was plummeting downward at incredible speed.

In the bright moonlight, they could just make out that the falling object wasn’t an object at all—it was clearly a person.

The person had their hands clasped behind their back, diving headfirst like a bolt of lightning.

Meng Jiaxin’s eyes were as wide as saucers. ’Falling from that height... wouldn’t he be splattered into pulp?’

The person got closer and closer, accelerating rapidly. The piercing WHISTLE of air friction could be heard from far away.

When he was fifty meters from the ground, the man suddenly raised his right palm and slammed it down toward the earth.

With a deafening BOOM, a massive crater dozens of feet wide appeared in the ground. Thousands of allied soldiers were instantly obliterated, their blood and gore flying everywhere in a gruesome spectacle.

Then, the man landed with a THUD. He was on one knee, his right palm pressed to the ground. He looked like a god descended to the mortal realm, or a statue cast in steel, radiating boundless power and magnificence.

Everyone stared at the man, their eyes filled with utter astonishment. ’To fall from thousands of meters and be completely unharmed... Is he even human?’

The man slowly stood up. His resolute gaze fell upon Meng Jiaxin, and a gentle smile spread across his face.

Meng Jiaxin finally recognized him. Her face lit up with joy, and in the next instant, she screamed, "Ye Feng!"

She staggered forward and threw her arms around Ye Feng, her face breaking into a joyous smile that was immediately washed away by a flood of tears.

Across the way, George heard Meng Jiaxin’s cry and glanced at Ye Feng. The corner of his mouth twitched into a slight smile as he pulled out his phone and sent a text.

Meng Jiaxin looked up at Ye Feng, her voice choked with sobs. "Ye Feng, I thought I’d never see you again! I thought you were gone forever!"

Ye Feng wrapped an arm around Meng Jiaxin’s slender waist and said with a grin, "How could I ever bear to be parted from my beautiful Eldest Senior Sister?"

With that, his hand slipped right inside her clothes.

"Pervert!" Seeing Ye Feng grope her in front of so many people, Meng Jiaxin’s face instantly turned crimson. She shoved him away, glaring at him with her almond-shaped eyes, a mix of shame and anger in them.

But a moment later, realization dawned on her. Her face went deathly pale, and she began pushing Ye Feng away again, shouting urgently,

"You fool, why did you come alone? This is a suicide mission! Get out of here, I’ll cover you!"

But Ye Feng just shook his head, his voice firm and resolute.

"Eldest Senior Sister, you’ve always been the one protecting me. Today, let me be the one to protect you. I’ll handle these bastards."

Before he could finish, George burst into boisterous laughter. "An ant like you thinks you can take on my massive army? You’re dreaming! Not only will you fail to protect her, but you’ll be staying behind as well!"

He then roared, "Soldiers! Leave Meng Jiaxin for my pleasure! Kill all the rest! KILL!"

The words had barely left his mouth when Ye Feng spun around to fix him with a deathly stare, his eyes becoming impossibly sharp.

"You dare speak to my Eldest Senior Sister with such disrespect? You deserve to die!"

With a flash, his body shot forward, lunging straight for George.

Seeing this, Meng Jiaxin’s expression changed dramatically. "Ye Feng, what are you doing? Come back!" she cried out.

Ye Feng didn’t slow down. His calm voice drifted back to her, "This bastard dared to disrespect you. He deserves to die!"
