Chapter 295: Chapter 295: It’s Time to Settle Some Accounts
She saw it clearly: the twelve National Preceptors were all kneeling on the ground, heads bowed, completely still.
Before them stood a man with his hands clasped behind his back, as steadfast as a mountain!
It was Ye Feng.
At that moment, Robert stared at Ye Feng and shrieked, "You actually wiped out the twelve National Preceptors? How is that possible?"
But Ye Feng didn’t even spare him a glance. He looked at Meng Jiaxin and said with a smile, "Eldest Senior Sister, I said I could take care of those twelve, and I did!"
Meng Jiaxin cried out in delight, stumbled forward, and threw her arms around Ye Feng.
Just then, a group of people strode over. The leader, a large man with red hair, looked at Ye Feng and said respectfully, "The Kylin Battalion reports. Greetings, Lord Yu Qilin."
Upon hearing this, Robert shrieked, "Y-You’re the Kylin Battalion’s Yu Qilin!"
Ye Feng turned to Robert and said calmly, "I am he."
Robert’s face instantly turned as white as a sheet.
No wonder they had suffered such a devastating loss. It turned out they had run into this god of slaughter.
The red-haired man then looked at Ye Feng and reported respectfully, "Reporting to Lord Yu Qilin, of the allied forces, one million have surrendered. The rest have been completely wiped out. We await your orders, Lord Yu Qilin. How should we handle these one million prisoners?"
"Kill them," Ye Feng ordered coldly.
These people had nearly harmed Meng Jiaxin. Ye Feng was truly enraged.
"Yes, sir!" the red-haired man acknowledged before turning and leading his men away.
Robert was scared out of his wits. He lost all will to resist, turned, and fled for his life.
But he hadn’t taken more than a few steps before a figure blocked his path and asked calmly, "Where do you think you’re going?"
Robert looked up and saw it was Ye Feng. His face drained of all color. "Lord Yu Qilin, spare me!"
Ye Feng looked at Robert. "I’m going to ask you a few questions, and I expect truthful answers."
Robert nodded frantically. "I’ll tell you everything I know!"
Ye Feng spoke nonchalantly, "My Eldest Senior Sister was left with fewer than 200,000 soldiers. Your ten million troops could have easily annihilated them. So why did you surround them without attacking?"
"The truth is, we were just using Meng War God as bait! Our real goal was to lure you here!" Robert said hastily.
Ye Feng nodded and asked again, "I have no grievances or grudges with your twelve nations. Why are you targeting me like this?"
Robert’s eyes darted around. "I can tell you the truth," he said quickly, "but I need you to promise you’ll spare my life!"
Ye Feng chuckled. "You don’t have to tell me. I already know. You must have been instigated by that bastard Wu Cheng, am I right?"
"How did you know—" Robert began in astonishment, but he quickly shut his mouth halfway through. With those words, he had undoubtedly admitted it.
Ye Feng chuckled again. "My Eldest Senior Sister was besieged by the allied forces of twelve nations, yet Wu Cheng made all sorts of excuses to avoid sending troops to rescue her. Do you really think I’d believe you weren’t colluding?"
Robert shouted desperately, "You’re right! It was Wu Cheng! He promised us great rewards to make a move, use Meng Jiaxin as bait, and lure you here to be killed!"
After blurting it all out, he looked at Ye Feng and said quickly, "I’ve told you the whole truth. You should let me go now, right?"
The moment the words left his mouth, Ye Feng’s right fist shot out, smashing directly into Robert’s chest.
With a sickening thud, Ye Feng’s fist punched straight through Robert’s chest.
Robert let out a bloodcurdling scream, his expression freezing in a stunned daze.
Ye Feng looked at him and said coldly, "You were the mastermind behind the attack on my Eldest Senior Sister. You really thought I would let you go? Impossible."
Robert stared at Ye Feng with great difficulty, his eyes filled with regret. "I shouldn’t have... shouldn’t have provoked you..."
Before he could finish, his head slumped powerlessly, and he died a violent death.
Ye Feng flicked his hand, tossing Robert’s corpse to the ground. He then turned to Meng Jiaxin and said with a smile:
"Eldest Senior Sister, I said I’d annihilate the allied forces of the twelve nations, and I did! The people who wanted to bully you have gotten what they deserve!"
It was only then that Meng Jiaxin snapped back to reality. She rushed forward and hugged Ye Feng tightly, her face wreathed in a joyful smile, but in the next moment, tears were streaming down her face.
She was weeping with joy.
After a long while, Meng Jiaxin’s emotions calmed slightly. She looked up at Ye Feng and asked in confusion, "Ye Feng, why is Wu Cheng targeting you?"
As soon as she finished speaking, an elderly voice drifted up from the foot of the mountain. "If I’m not mistaken, it’s because Ye Feng offended the Empress. As the Empress’s father, Wu Cheng is the one taking action against him."
As the voice faded, an old man approached with his hands clasped behind his back.
It was the Grand Elder of the Great Xia Empire, Xuanyuan Sword!
Seeing Xuanyuan Sword, Meng Jiaxin hurried to greet him with a respectful bow. "Meng Jiaxin pays her respects to the Grand Elder. Thank you for dispatching troops to save us, Grand Elder!"
The Grand Elder gave a wry smile. "To say that I dispatched troops to save you... I’m truly ashamed. On this trip to the Eastern Domain, aside from cleaning up a few who slipped through the net, I was mostly just a spectator. The complete annihilation of the twelve-nation allied forces today was almost entirely Ye Feng’s achievement alone!"
"Just the fact that you came is more than I could ask for," Meng Jiaxin said sincerely, then turned to Ye Feng with a puzzled expression.
"Ye Feng, how did you manage to offend the Empress so badly that she’d want to have you killed?"
Ye Feng briefly explained how he had saved the Emperor in order to fulfill a marriage agreement. He finished his story and said in a cold voice:
"Originally, I didn’t want to get too involved in palace affairs. I just wanted to get the Jade Pendant back and leave. But that bitch dared to make a move against you. Since she’s asking for death, she can’t blame me for being merciless."
After speaking, he turned to Meng Jiaxin and the Grand Elder. "Eldest Senior Sister, Grand Elder, we will return to the Imperial Capital at once. It’s time I settled this score with her!"
Meng Jiaxin nodded, but then she looked at Ye Feng with worry in her eyes.
"Ye Feng, the Empress has immense influence in the court. On top of that, her father is a grand marshal of the border. Can you really stand against him?"
The Grand Elder looked at Meng Jiaxin and said, "Meng War God, there is no need to worry. The Emperor’s health has been restored. With His Majesty backing Ye Feng, the Empress... she can’t stir up any significant trouble."
Meng Jiaxin shot Ye Feng a glare. "Oh, I almost forgot. Someone’s an Imperial Son-in-law now!"
As soon as the words were spoken, a sour, jealous tang filled the air.
Ye Feng’s face flushed, and he began to cough violently.
Meng Jiaxin looked at Ye Feng and asked again, "What about Wu Cheng’s side of things?"
"I’ll arrange for that," Ye Feng said, briefly explaining his plan.
Nearby, Wolf Fang received his orders and departed.
The Grand Elder chuckled. "It seems these old bones of mine will have to put in some effort this time!"
With that, he turned and left.
Nearby, Batar looked at Ye Feng and said sincerely, "Benefactor, come back with me. I must host you properly!"
A single sentence from Meng Jiaxin nearby sent Ye Feng into another violent coughing fit.
