Chapter 312: I Gave My Everything to You, But You Gave Your Everything to Us
Chapter 312: Chapter 312: I Gave My Everything to You, But You Gave Your Everything to Us
Guo Yanlong’s face went white. He quickly said, "Prince Consort, I didn’t know she was your wife! Otherwise, I never would have done such a thing!"
Everyone present stared at the scene before them, scarcely able to believe their own eyes.
Who was Guo Yanlong? He was the dignified Chancellor of the Great Xia Empire! Yet now, he was being ordered around by Ye Feng like a dog. Even more incredibly, Guo Yanlong didn’t dare to resist, only bowing and scraping to admit his fault. Was this really happening?
Xiao Yufei was also staring in utter disbelief.
Just then, Guo Yanlong forced a smile at Ye Feng. "Prince Consort, please, carry on with your business. I’ll take my leave now!"
With that, he had his men lift Guo Ming, preparing to leave.
But then, a calm voice came from behind them. It was Ye Feng. "Trying to leave? What if I don’t let you?"
As he spoke, he flickered out of sight, reappearing in front of Guo Yanlong and blocking his path.
"You... what do you want?" Guo Yanlong asked, stunned.
"I want to kill you, of course," Ye Feng replied serenely.
His tone was placid, like he was making small talk, but the killing intent in his words was utterly undisguised.
Hearing Ye Feng’s words, Guo Yanlong could no longer endure it. He finally erupted in a fit of rage.
"Ye Feng, you did this to my son, and I endured it! But you still have the audacity to be this arrogant? Do you really think I, Guo Yanlong, am someone you can just push around?"
"Let me tell you: I’m not."
"I’m not like those few Ministers you can just manipulate at will. I am the reigning Chancellor..."
The words had barely left his mouth when Ye Feng’s right fist shot out, crashing into Guo Yanlong’s chest.
With an explosive CRACK, Guo Yanlong was sent flying. He slammed hard onto the ground, spewing mouthfuls of blood that were visibly mixed with fragments of his internal organs.
Guo Yanlong struggled to raise his head and look at Ye Feng, his eyes filled with utter disbelief. "You... you..."
Ye Feng looked down at Guo Yanlong and said contemptuously, "I even dared to kill Wu Xiu. What the hell is a Chancellor like you supposed to be?"
Guo Yanlong stared at Ye Feng, wanting to say more, but in the next moment, he collapsed limply to the ground. He twitched for a moment, then moved no more.
Everyone on the scene was stunned into silence.
Who was Guo Yanlong? The dignified Chancellor of the Great Xia Empire! But now, Ye Feng had just killed him with a single blow, as if swatting a fly. Wasn’t this just too tyrannical?
The crowd stared dazedly at Ye Feng, their eyes brimming with disbelief.
But Ye Feng acted as if he hadn’t a care in the world. He wrapped an arm around Xiao Yufei and drifted away, and everyone clearly heard his cheerful voice say:
"Yufei, there’s a place up ahead that sells roasted duck necks. They’re pretty good. I’ll take you to try them."
The crowd behind them: "..."
A piece of news spread rapidly through the social circles of the Imperial Capital.
Guo Yanlong, the Chancellor of the Great Xia Empire, had been killed in cold blood by Ye Feng.
Everyone in the Imperial Capital was left aghast.
In the few short days he’d been in the Imperial Capital, he had already crushed the Martial Arts Association, crippled four great Ministers, stabbed Empress Wu Xiu to death with a single sword thrust, and now, he had even killed the Chancellor...
Contemplating Ye Feng’s list of "accomplishments," everyone’s scalp tingled with fear.
And yet, despite creating such a massive disturbance, Ye Feng remained completely untouched. He went about his business, getting married and chasing women, living an enviably comfortable life.
Eventually, people figured out the root of it all: Ye Feng had the personal backing of the Emperor himself.
With that ultimate patron backing him, who wouldn’t Ye Feng dare to kill?
Instantly, everyone fell silent.
And so, an even stricter edict was issued by the patriarchs of the great clans: as long as Ye Feng remained in the Imperial Capital, no scion of their family was permitted to take a single step outside. The penalty for violation: they would be put to death by their own family.
This led to a bizarre scene. The Great Xia Imperial Capital, which should have been incomparably prosperous, suddenly had sparse foot traffic on its streets. Shops were so deserted you could catch birds on their doorsteps. With no business to be had, many stores simply shut down. Within days, the Imperial Capital’s GDP had fallen by several percentage points.
...
Yet the architect of this whole situation was currently enjoying duck necks with his arm around Xiao Yufei.
Xiao Yufei watched Ye Feng wolfing down the food, her own face pale. "Ye Feng, you killed the Chancellor of the Great Xia Empire. Do you think the authorities will let you get away with it? That the Emperor will let you get away with it?"
Ye Feng looked at Xiao Yufei and smiled faintly. "Yufei, have you forgotten? The Emperor gave me the Imperial Execution Sword. It’d be a shame to have this thing and not kill a few people with it!"
Xiao Yufei was speechless. ’Is that really how it works?’
Xiao Yufei looked at Ye Feng and asked another question. "Ye Feng, you weren’t a bloodthirsty person before. Why did you kill the Chancellor over such a small thing today?"
Ye Feng’s expression suddenly turned cold. "A small thing? Heh. To me, anything that concerns you is more important than the heavens. Guo Ming was clearly bullying you, but that Guo Yanlong, without distinguishing right from wrong, came to back up his son. He was obviously just as arrogant and overbearing."
"The last time, I was merciful and let those Ministers go, and it nearly cost you your lives. I won’t make the same mistake twice. Therefore, I must pull up the weeds by the roots and eliminate the problem for good."
Ye Feng added, "Besides, I’m heading to Malaysia soon, and I won’t be back for some time. Killing Guo Yanlong had another meaning: to make it known to everyone that no one is to touch the people I care about. Otherwise, I wouldn’t spare them even if they were the Heavenly King himself."
Hearing Ye Feng’s words, so domineering yet tender, Xiao Yufei’s heart suddenly melted.
She grabbed Ye Feng’s hand, a happy smile spreading across her face. But then she snapped back to her senses, looking at him in surprise. "What are you going to Malaysia for?"
Ye Feng explained that he was going to see the Queen of Malaysia to fulfill a marriage contract.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Yufei froze on the spot.
Seeing the look on her face, Ye Feng quickly smiled and said, "Yufei, don’t get the wrong idea. I’m just going to see the Queen to get the Jade Pendant back. As the saying goes, ’of three thousand beauties, I only need one’—or in my case, only you all... By the way, how many ’ones’ is that now?"
Xiao Yufei burst out laughing. She squeezed Ye Feng’s hand and asked urgently, "Ye Feng, how long will it take for you to come back?"
Ye Feng gave a wry smile. "How long I’ll be gone isn’t up to me. It depends on when the Queen decides to give me back the Jade Pendant."
"That... could be a long time!" Xiao Yufei murmured. Then she looked at Ye Feng and said, "Ye Feng, I agree. Let’s get married today. I don’t want to delay our happiness any longer."
She added plaintively, "Otherwise, I’ll probably fall behind certain other people again."
"Ye Feng, I gave all of myself to you, but you gave all of yourself to all of us."
"AHEM, AHEM, AHEM..." Ye Feng coughed violently.
"Let’s go. A wedding takes a lot of preparation, after all!" Xiao Yufei said, pulling Ye Feng up to leave.
Just then, the owner of the duck neck shop behind them yelled out, "Hey, pay your bill!"
Xiao Yufei stuck out her tongue. "Oops, I forgot about that."
Ye Feng chuckled, then pulled out his phone. "Boss," he said, looking at the owner, "WeChat or Alipay?"
The owner glared at Ye Feng and shouted, "I only take cash here."
Ye Feng turned to Xiao Yufei. "Do you have any cash on you?"
Xiao Yufei shook her head. "Everyone uses WeChat or Alipay now. I don’t usually carry cash."
"We have important things to do!" Ye Feng said, then turned back to the owner with a smile. "Sir, we don’t have any cash on us. Paying with WeChat or Alipay is the same thing, isn’t it?"
"No! I only take cash here," the middle-aged owner yelled, glaring at Ye Feng. "If you dare try to dine and dash, I’ll report you to the authorities!"
The middle-aged owner’s wife had just run off with another man, leaving his heart in tatters. A moment ago, seeing Ye Feng and Xiao Yufei’s public display of affection had sent him into a rage. He was deliberately trying to make things difficult for Ye Feng, just to see him squirm.
