Ultimate Master in the City
Chapter 325: You’re Worse Than Dogs
Chapter 325: Chapter 325: You’re Worse Than Dogs
Kong Wei spoke. "Your Majesty, the Prince of Yue, Li Hao, now leads the Twelve-Nation Allied Army. He has massed his troops on Malaysia’s border for the sole purpose of securing a marriage alliance with you.
"In my humble opinion, you should simply accept Li Hao’s proposal. By doing so, we can ensure Malaysia’s safety and allow our people to live in peace and contentment!"
Hearing this, the assembled court officials immediately chimed in with their agreement:
"Ah, the old Chancellor is as thorough as ever. I think this is a marvelous plan!"
"A marriage alliance in exchange for national peace and prosperity. I wholeheartedly agree!"
"Agreed!"
...
Xia Xingyu gazed at her officials, her eyes filled with disappointment. Forcing down her fury, she looked at Kong Wei and asked:
"Chancellor, I am the Queen of Malaysia, yet you suggest I bow to someone else. Tell me, where would our nation’s honor be then?"
Kong Wei looked at Xia Xingyu and said, "Your Majesty, when choosing between life and honor, I believe life is far more important!"
The other officials immediately voiced their support:
"Yes, the old Chancellor is absolutely right!"
"+1."
"+1."
...
Staring at the shameless faces of her officials, Xia Xingyu was so furious her hands wouldn’t stop shaking.
Yet, she didn’t dare to lash out. After all, Malaysia still relied on this group of men to keep it running. Xia Xingyu was so indignant she felt like her lungs were about to explode.
But at that very moment, a cold voice echoed from the entrance:
"I’ve met shameless people, but I have never met something so utterly shameless!"
As the words fell, Ye Feng strolled into the grand council hall, his hands clasped behind his back.
At this, one of the officials turned, glared at Ye Feng, and demanded coldly:
"Who are you insulting?"
Ye Feng looked at the official and replied without a hint of politeness:
"I’m insulting you. You got a problem with it?"
"You..." The official’s face went white with rage.
Kong Wei spun around abruptly. Staring at Ye Feng, he snapped, "Where did this scoundrel come from, daring to spout such nonsense in the royal court? Guards! Throw him out this instant..."
"And you!" Before Kong Wei’s voice had even faded, Ye Feng abruptly raised a hand, pointed right at him, and sneered.
"As a senior minister of this court, in a time of national crisis, you don’t think of how to serve your country. Instead, you scheme to hand over Her Majesty the Queen. Do you have no shame?
"Let me ask you, if that feather-fart Prince of Yue took a fancy to your wife, or to your mother, would you hand them over just as easily? All to trade for wealth and power, to eke out a dishonorable existence?"
"You..." Who was Kong Wei? He was the Chancellor of Malaysia, a man second only to the monarch and above millions. He was a revered figure whom no one dared to treat with anything but the utmost respect.
But today, Ye Feng was pointing right in his face, dressing him down like a dog. For a moment, he was simply stunned by rage.
But Ye Feng wasn’t done. "What’s with the ’You...’? You old shameless fool, even a blind man can see your little scheme.
"All you’re thinking about is handing over Her Majesty. Even if Malaysia’s royal family is completely wiped out, it just means you’ll have a new king. Your own interests won’t be harmed in the slightest. You’ll still be the Chancellor, you’ll still hold a high office. After all that, won’t your conscience ache?
"Oh, right, you don’t have a conscience. But even a dog knows to guard its master’s gate. Let me ask you, what good has it done Malaysia to keep a man like you?"
Kong Wei was shaking with such fury he couldn’t speak. The officials behind him glared at Ye Feng and roared in anger:
"Who the hell do you think you are, being so rude to the old Chancellor? Are you looking to die?"
"And as for you!" Before they could even finish, Ye Feng spun around, his scornful gaze sweeping over the crowd. "When faced with a powerful enemy, you don’t dare stand up and fight back. All you can think about is saving your own skins by enduring humiliation. You’re all cut from the same cloth as that old fool. What gives you the right to bark at me?"
Hearing Ye Feng say everything she’d been wanting to, Xia Xingyu felt an immense sense of catharsis! Her eyes showed her approval as she looked at him, but her approval quickly turned to confusion. ’Who is this man? And how did he get into the palace?’
Just then, Kong Wei also recovered his wits. He glared at Ye Feng and roared, "How dare you trespass in the grand council hall and insult the court officials! You deserve to die! Guards! Drag him out and beat him to death with the golden melons!"
A dozen or so Imperial Palace Guards acknowledged the order and charged toward Ye Feng. Reaching him, they brought their weapons down fiercely upon his head.
But before they could even touch Ye Feng, he gave a casual wave of his right hand. Instantly, the guards were sent flying like kites with their strings snapped, crashing hard onto the floor.
When Kong Wei saw this, he flew into a rage and roared, "Commander Lin! Where are you?"
"Present!" Lin Zhao quickly entered from outside the hall.
Kong Wei pointed a finger at Ye Feng and commanded arrogantly, "Commander Lin, I want you to take down this rebel! Take him down, now!"
He then turned to sneer at Ye Feng. "You really think a little third-rate martial arts allows you to run wild in the grand council hall? You’re dreaming. Do you have any idea what Commander Lin’s cultivation level is? I’ll tell you: he’s a Tier Two Martial Immortal! In his presence, you’re less than nothing! Get him!"
But Lin Zhao’s reply left him utterly stunned.
Lin Zhao spoke, his voice filled with shame. "Lord Chancellor, forgive my incompetence. I am no match for him."
Kong Wei froze on the spot, completely dumbstruck. ’The greatest master in the palace guard... is no match for this man? How can he be this powerful?’
At this, Ye Feng looked at Kong Wei, a wide grin spreading across his face. "This feeling... of wanting to take me down, but being completely powerless to do so. It feels terrible, doesn’t it?"
"You..." Kong Wei’s face was ashen with rage. He turned to Xia Xingyu and ground out through clenched teeth:
"Your Majesty, I request permission to mobilize all the palace’s power to annihilate this traitor!"
"I’d like to see who dares to lay a hand on him!" Ouyang Qiu stepped forward, glaring at Kong Wei and speaking in a cold voice.
Seeing Ouyang Qiu’s imposing manner, Kong Wei suddenly felt that something was amiss. He frowned at Ouyang Qiu and asked:
"Just who are you people?"
At this, Du Lei stepped forward and announced imposingly, "I am Du Lei, the Chief Ambassador from the Great Xia Empire’s embassy to Malaysia. And as for him..."
Du Lei had only gotten halfway through his sentence before Kong Wei furiously interrupted him:
"Du Lei! You’re nothing but a minor ambassador, yet you dare sic someone on the royal palace to cause a scene? Do you think you’re worthy? Do you think *he’s* worthy?"
The officials behind him also began to shout, "What right do you have to be so presumptuous here? Get out!"
Du Lei: "..."
Xia Yanran, who had been standing at the entrance, could no longer bear to listen. She strode in, fixed her cold gaze on Kong Wei, and said, "With the Twelve-Nation Allied Army massed at the border, you were all so scared you wouldn’t dare make a peep. But here, inside the palace, you’re suddenly so high and mighty. You’re nothing but a pack of curs who only know how to fight amongst yourselves. I feel ashamed just looking at you!"
"You..." Seeing Xia Yanran show him absolutely no deference, Kong Wei’s face turned livid. He whipped his head toward Xia Xingyu and roared in fury:
"Your Majesty, the Commandery Princess is being utterly disrespectful! I demand an explanation from you!"
The other officials chimed in, "Yes, Your Majesty! You must give us an explanation!"
But a single sentence from Xia Yanran, standing to the side, made the entire court erupt.
