Chapter 83: Chapter 83: I Ask You, What Surname Would You Like?
The sharply dressed man shot him a contemptuous glare, then turned and bowed respectfully to Ye Feng. "Mr. Ye, the tickets have been delivered. Cyan Dragon takes his leave."
With that, he turned, got in the car, and sped away.
Zheng Jia stared blankly at Ye Feng, completely dumbfounded. He never imagined this bastard would actually get the tickets—and so many of them. He had a faint feeling that this man was not as simple as he seemed.
Just then, Ye Feng pulled out a cigarette, letting it hang from his lips. He took out a lighter and was about to flick it on when he turned his head. He looked at Wang Luyao, who was staring blankly at the thick stack of tickets in her hand, and gave a faint smile.
He then plucked a few tickets from her hand and set them ablaze. He lit his cigarette with the flame, took a drag, and shook the brightly burning tickets. With a smile, he said:
"Since you don’t like them, they work just as well for lighting a cigarette, don’t they?"
"Stop burning them! That’s three million!" Zheng Jia, standing behind them, couldn’t help but shriek.
Wang Luyao snapped out of it and quickly tried to bat out the flames, but it was too late. The six tickets had already been reduced to ash.
"You wastrel!" Wang Luyao hammered a fist against Ye Feng’s shoulder, grinding out the words through clenched teeth.
Three million! That was half a year’s profit for her company, and Ye Feng had just torched it. The waste was killing her.
Ye Feng looked at her, his eyes crinkling into a smile. "Now you believe the tickets are real, don’t you?"
"I believe you! I completely believe you! Ye Feng, you’re incredible!" Wang Luyao cried excitedly. The next moment, she rose onto her tiptoes, leaned in, and planted a loud SMACK right on Ye Feng’s cheek.
That one gesture was enough to make Zheng Jia, watching from the side, practically explode with rage. In that instant, he wanted nothing more than to tear Ye Feng limb from limb.
Just then, two vans came screeching up. They slammed to a halt, and a group of men poured out, rushing straight toward them.
The man in the lead was bald and middle-aged, wearing gold-rimmed glasses. With his head held high and his hands clasped behind his back, he had a commanding presence.
The newcomer was none other than the dean of Jiangcheng Central Hospital, Zheng Bin.
Seeing Zheng Bin, Zheng Jia’s confidence returned. He marched right up to him, pointed at Ye Feng’s back, and said through gritted teeth:
"Dad, it’s this piece of trash! He stole my girlfriend! This isn’t just about disrespecting me, he’s disrespecting you! He’s trying to end the Zheng family line!"
Blinded by rage, Zheng Jia completely forgot that Ye Feng had the power to command Cyan Dragon. He had only one thought now: to take care of Ye Feng. ’Turning him into a eunuch would be best,’ he fumed. ’That would be satisfying.’
Hearing that this man had not only stolen his son’s girlfriend but also wanted to end the Zheng family line, Zheng Bin’s nerve was struck. His gaze turned icy as he stared at Ye Feng’s back and snarled:
"My son’s right. This isn’t a slap to his face; it’s a slap to mine!
I admit, there are a few people in Jiangcheng who can afford to disrespect me, but you are not one of them!
To challenge my authority is like poking a tiger. You will pay a heavy price for this. If I don’t cripple you today, my name isn’t Zheng!"
With a grand wave of his hand, he commanded arrogantly, "Men, go! Cripple him! I’ll take full responsibility."
Wang Luyao knew the kind of influence Zheng Bin wielded. Hearing his words, her face went white with fear. She rushed forward and cried out anxiously:
"Dean Zheng, please don’t be angry! For my sake, please, just let this go."
Zheng Bin looked at Wang Luyao and let out a cold chuckle.
"President Wang, you’re the girlfriend my son Zheng Jia was talking about, aren’t you? Fine. I’ll do you this favor and let him go, but you must agree to two conditions."
Wang Luyao let out a long sigh of relief and nodded quickly. "Dean Zheng, please, tell me. As long as it’s within my power, I’ll agree."
Before Zheng Bin could speak, Zheng Jia beside him sneered, "Allow me!"
He held up one finger. "First, you will chop off one of this punk’s arms to atone for his arrogance!"
Then he held up a second finger. "Second, you’re going to dump this piece of trash and go back to being my girlfriend."
"You..." Wang Luyao couldn’t believe he would propose such shameless conditions. Her face went pale with rage.
Just then, Zheng Bin looked at Wang Luyao and sneered.
"It seems you have no intention of agreeing to my son’s conditions. Very well. In that case, you can’t save this punk."
With another grand wave of his hand, he commanded arrogantly:
"Men, do it! If I don’t cripple him today, my name isn’t Zheng!"
The men roared in agreement and, brandishing their weapons, charged at Ye Feng.
Wang Luyao’s face was drained of all color!
But just then, Ye Feng slowly turned around. He looked at Zheng Bin and chuckled. "If your name isn’t going to be Zheng, what would you like it to be?"
The moment he saw Ye Feng’s face, Zheng Bin froze, as if struck by lightning. He never would have imagined that the man he was about to "take care of" was Ye Feng.
After the events of last night, he had gone to beg Sofia to continue their partnership. But Sofia’s response had been simple: she would only agree if Ye Feng agreed.
He had been racking his brain for a way to curry favor with Ye Feng and earn his forgiveness. He never dreamed that not only had his own son provoked the man, but he himself had been screaming to have him crippled. Wasn’t this just burning his own bridges?
If Ye Feng got angry, his partnership with the United States medical association was as good as dead...
At this grave realization, his face turned as white as a sheet.
But Zheng Jia, oblivious to the change in his father, was still crowing triumphantly. "What we want is no longer your concern. What you should be concerned with is whether or not you’re going to survive this.
You piece of trash, you actually dared to provoke me? Dared to fight me over a woman? This is the price you pay! Get it? HAHA..."
The next second, he commanded imperiously, "Get him! Kill him! Kill him..."
But the words had barely left his mouth when Zheng Bin’s shrill voice cut through from behind: "Stop! All of you, stop!"
He stumbled over to Ye Feng, bowing obsequiously. "Mr. Ye, my son was blind and didn’t recognize you. He has offended you, and I deeply apologize!"
Ye Feng raised a hand and patted Zheng Bin’s plump cheek, his voice calm. "Is this how you raise your son?"
"I have been too lenient in his upbringing. I was wrong."
Zheng Bin didn’t dare to lift his head, his voice trembling as he spoke.
Ye Feng patted his plump cheek again.
"Jumping in to take your son’s side and crush someone without knowing right from wrong... Is that your way of doing things?"
"I was wrong. I was truly wrong," Zheng Bin stammered, sweat pouring down his plump face. DRIP. DRIP.
This scene left everyone present utterly petrified. One moment, he was as vicious as a wolf; the next, as meek as a lamb. What... what in the world had just happened?
Zheng Jia stared at his father, his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. He ran over and yelled frantically at Zheng Bin:
"Dad, what are you doing? Why are you being so deferential to this loser? Have you been drinking?"
But what happened next left everyone completely dumbfounded.
