Ultimate Master in the City
Chapter 91: A Truly Important Figure
Chapter 91: Chapter 91: A Truly Important Figure
But to her surprise, Ye Feng was still sitting there, a completely placid look on his face. He looked at Pan Jie and began to speak calmly:
"I had a reason for hitting him today. Let me explain..."
"Shut your mouth." But before Ye Feng could finish, Pan Jie cut him off coldly. "I have eyes. I can see for myself. You beat someone to this state for no reason. What is there to explain?"
Ye Feng looked at Pan Jie and chuckled. "So you’re choosing to side with your family over what’s right?"
The moment Ye Feng finished speaking, Pan Jie said coldly, "Ye Feng, don’t you get arrogant with me. Don’t think I don’t know your story. You’re just relying on the fact that you have someone backing you!
But do you think that just because you have him, you can run wild in Jiangcheng? Act all high and mighty? Let me tell you, you’re dreaming!
Because in Jiangcheng now, his word means nothing. There’s no one to protect you anymore. So today, I’m going to punish evil, promote good, and deal with you according to the law. And you will pay a heavy price for assaulting someone."
Wang Luyao, at the side, finally snapped out of it. She looked at Pan Jie and cried out anxiously, "Please, I’m begging you, let him go!"
Pan Jie whipped his head around, staring at Wang Luyao and speaking menacingly, "He beat someone like this for no reason, and you want me to let him go? Do you think your words carry more weight than the law?
Let me tell you, not only will he not escape today, but you won’t escape punishment either! I will make you pay a price—a heavy price!"
After speaking, he snatched a rifle from a garrison soldier behind him and aimed it directly at Wang Luyao.
Wang Luyao was so frightened she froze on the spot, utterly petrified.
Pan Haofeng, seeing this from the side, immediately started shouting with excitement:
"Shoot her! And shoot that bastard along with her!"
Pan Jie nodded and said coldly, "Don’t worry. I will get justice for you today. Not a single one of them will get away!"
With that, he pulled back the bolt on the rifle.
Pan Haofeng burst into wild, unrestrained laughter. "Wang Luyao! Ye Feng! So arrogant now, are you? Go on, try being arrogant again for me to see!
How fucking dare you provoke me! You all deserve to die! Die..."
But the moment the word left his lips, he heard Pan Jie cry out in pain. He glanced down in confusion, and in the next instant, his pupils contracted violently. He could clearly see that the rifle in Pan Jie’s hands was now, somehow, in Ye Feng’s.
Ye Feng’s other hand was pressed on Pan Jie’s head, forcing him to kneel directly in front of him.
No matter how Pan Jie struggled, he couldn’t break free from his grasp.
Pan Haofeng stared at Ye Feng, completely dumbstruck. He had never imagined Ye Feng would be so audacious as to force Pan Jie to his knees!
Everyone around them was stunned. They stared at Ye Feng, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. ’Is... is this really happening? I can’t be seeing this, right?’
Wang Luyao also stared at Ye Feng, completely dumbfounded. ’Ye Feng, has he lost his mind?’
But Ye Feng remained seated, his expression still calm. He looked at the kneeling Pan Jie, sighed, and said, "I was originally going to reason with you properly, but you didn’t give me the chance.
Pan Jie, you need to understand something. Your position was given to you by the people, not by your son. You’re not here to serve only your son; you’re supposed to serve all the citizens of Jiangcheng. You’ve got your priorities all wrong. You’ve put the cart before the horse!
Someone of your character is completely unworthy of leading Jiangcheng!"
Pan Jie was on the verge of going insane. He was about to become the top dog in Jiangcheng, about to reach the pinnacle of his life.
But he never expected that before he could even taste that boundless glory, he’d be forced to the ground like a dog and utterly humiliated.
How could he accept this? How could he swallow this humiliation? He roared like a madman:
"How dare you be so arrogant! You deserve to die! Men, shoot him! Shoot him now!"
The moment he spoke, dozens of fully armed garrison soldiers behind him rushed forward, the dark muzzles of their guns all aimed at Ye Feng.
Ye Feng’s expression turned cold, his gaze becoming incredibly sharp. He murmured:
"When I left my master, I promised to obey his command not to kill the innocent wantonly. But you are all forcing my hand!"
As his voice fell, a terrifying killing intent exploded outwards, instantly filling the hall. The surrounding crowd felt in horror as the temperature of the entire room seemed to drop several degrees.
But Pan Jie, oblivious to the mortal danger he was in, was still shouting:
"Kill him for me! Kill him!"
But just as his words faded, a majestic voice echoed through the hall:
"I’d like to see who dares cause trouble here!"
With the voice came an old man with a full head of white hair and a matching beard. Despite his age, he was vigorous and walked with the powerful, imposing gait of a dragon.
Seeing the newcomer, almost everyone in the hall greeted him with the utmost respect:
"Greetings, Grand Elder!"
"Greetings, Grand Elder!"
The old man was none other than the Grand Elder, Xuanyuan Sword.
Xuanyuan Sword’s face was taut as he strode purposefully over to Ye Feng and the others.
Pan Jie, who had been released by Ye Feng, scrambled up from the floor. He pointed at Ye Feng, his voice trembling as he shouted at Xuanyuan Sword:
"Grand Elder, this madman dared to cause a scene at your banquet! He is unbelievably arrogant and insolent! Quickly, give the order to have him killed! Kill him!"
Feeling the immense, oppressive aura radiating from Xuanyuan Sword, an aura of one in a high position, Wang Luyao found she didn’t even have the strength to open her mouth and plead. She looked at Ye Feng helplessly, her eyes filled with despair.
’Ye Feng is finished. Truly finished. He’s angered Xuanyuan Sword. Not even God himself can save him now!’
The thought that she had just tasted the sweetness of love, only to be eternally separated from her lover by death, felt like a thousand arrows piercing her heart. Her eyes reddened, and she could no longer hold back the tears of anguish as they streamed down her pretty face.
But what happened next nearly made her eyes pop out of their sockets.
To her astonishment, she saw Xuanyuan Sword completely ignore Pan Jie. He walked directly up to Ye Feng and spoke in a gentle voice:
"My young friend, I am here to back you up today!"
BOOM!
The Grand Elder’s simple words hit them like a nuclear bomb detonating out of thin air. Everyone froze on the spot, staring blankly at Ye Feng, unable to believe their eyes.
’This Ye Feng is actually the Grand Elder’s friend? How... how is that possible?’
Pan Jie, at the side, also froze, utterly petrified. But he quickly came to his senses, turned his head to the Grand Elder, and shouted urgently:
"Grand Elder, you must have the wrong person! How could this thug possibly be your friend?"
The moment he finished speaking, the Grand Elder spun around to fix a deadly stare on Pan Jie and spoke, enunciating every word:
"Are you saying my old eyes are failing me? Are you saying I’ve gone senile?"
As he spoke, a tyrannical pressure instantly enveloped Pan Jie. He felt a sudden chill, as if a bucket of ice-cold water had been dumped over his head. Every hair on his body stood on end, and his face turned deathly pale.
