Chapter 1179: Chapter 1177: They’re Pretty Unlucky

Regarding the attitude toward the Red Armor clues, Gu Xi had only one option: hide them first in Yalidu City.

We’ll talk once Kro is sent away.

After exchanging a few words with Kro, Gu Xi, pretending like there was no major issue, began to review the spoils from this battle.

Kro was aware that after each battle, Gu Xi had many things to deal with.

So he wisely did not disturb him at this time.

Only when Gu Xi lifted his head to rest did Kro mutter a couple of sentences.

"Why did those people specifically make a trip to Beite Alliance?"

"She was staring at the Resurrection Skill earlier; do you think there is a corpse in her carriage?"

"Given the long journey, won’t the corpse decay?"

"To resurrect someone, aren’t you supposed to find an Undead Mage?"

"Why didn’t they notice your resurrection skills?"

No one knew how Kro discovered Gu Xi had free time or how he could swiftly pick up the previous topic.

His specialty was seamless transition.

Gu Xi didn’t mind, and would reply if he could; sometimes he wouldn’t answer if he was too busy.

When there was no communication, Kro would go to the small hut with the Holy Silver Evil Coffin to cook something for himself.

According to Kro, even if his culinary skills weren’t great, it was better than what the Undead chefs under Gu Xi could make.

He wasn’t like Gu Xi who could survive without eating.

He needed to take good care of himself, as he had many places yet to explore archaeologically.

Just as Gu Xi estimated, it took almost another day to travel from Rocovale to Beite Alliance.

Along the way, Gu Xi stopped three times waiting for the Black Armor troop.

If not for waiting, he could have reached in eighteen to twenty hours.

And this troop noticed Gu Xi’s disdain.

The woman inside the carriage was quite furious about it.

She consistently ordered her subordinates to keep pace, insisting no rest was needed as there was no exhaustion.

Gu Xi honestly didn’t know how to respond to her attitude.

Those soldiers were her subordinates, and Gu Xi didn’t need to feel sorry for them.

So whenever the woman arrived, Gu Xi would say just a couple of words before moving on.

The woman immediately followed.

As Gu Xi and the rest approached Beite Alliance, the soldiers under the woman visibly appeared sluggish.

However, Gu Xi noticed not their fatigue, but the thick black aura enveloping the knights and halberd soldiers.

It was clear they had been journeying through the Dark Passage without proper rest, and were now imbued with a significant amount of Dark Power.

Continuing like this, their entire troop might be doomed.

"See there, that’s Beite Alliance. Right now, it’s about thirty miles away. Continuing through the Dark Passage, we might crash head-on."

Let’s rest here for a bit and proceed normally later.

By the way, your troops..."

"What’s happened to them?"

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s words, the woman became immediately tense.

"Relax, I just wanted to say, won’t marching so many troops to another’s main city cause problems?"

Upon hearing this, it seemed the woman suddenly realized something.

"Damn, I nearly forgot because you hadn’t mentioned it.

I won’t discuss it with you anymore, I have things to do."

With that, the woman quickly jumped back into her carriage, commanding her troops to move out.

"What’s their situation?"

Witnessing this bewildering scene, Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask.

"It’s nothing. Generally speaking, if bringing troops along, they should be stationed fifty miles outside the main city to avoid being seen as aggressors.

They hurried nonstop due to the competition with us, inadvertently surpassing the distance.

At least they realized early in the Dark, having crossed the boundary without navigating properly.

Had they proceeded further, they might have faced an attack from Beite Alliance."

Kro spoke while pointing up to the sky.

Gu Xi was startled; could it be that Beite Alliance’s forces had already arrived?

Following Kro’s pointed direction, Gu Xi saw a bright red Flying Airship in the sky.

The Flying Airship resembled a massive wooden sailboat with machines like propellers on its sides.

From afar, this Flying Airship seemed to be a patchwork of two different styles.

On its bow stood several Crossbowmen equipped with Heavy Crossbows, wearing red armors clearly indicating Beite Alliance’s colors.

Gu Xi also noticed three cannons hanging beneath the ship’s hull, visibly muzzle-loading and relatively antique heavy artillery.

Yet inexplicably, they were affixed beneath the airship.

Even the gun ports were wedged shut.

It’s unclear if the cannons were ornamental or modified.

Nevertheless, they immediately caught Gu Xi’s attention.

As the Flying Airship flew past, someone glanced down at Gu Xi.

However, upon seeing just Gu Xi and Kro alongside a smoke-emitting coffin, it posed no threat, and the Crossbowmen atop paid them little heed.

They perceived no menace from Gu Xi at all.

With just two individuals, even inside Bite Alliance City, what could they possibly accomplish?

It wasn’t as though Gu Xi could conjure hundreds out of thin air.

The departing troop, however, had exceeded the alert range in number.

Moreover, they’d barged past the boundary.

This perfect opportunity should not be wasted given the Flying Airship’s energy consumption.

Thus, the Flying Airship directly flew overhead and pursued the woman.

After the Flying Airship had gone far, Gu Xi turned to look at Kro.

"They just left like that?"

"Otherwise? Were you expecting them to come down and take you into the city?

Let’s go, Beite Alliance is a main city after all; it’s natural to have heightened defenses."

Those people are likely to be charged."

Kro was quite familiar with the local situation, understanding what occurred as the Flying Airship disregarded them and proceeded.

Kro wasn’t schadenfreude but didn’t consider lending a hand based on their shared journey.

After all, they were merely fellow travelers with an average association.

Not kicking them when down seemed friendly enough; no one, including Gu Xi or Kro, intended on sacrificing themselves.

Upon glancing at the departing troops, Gu Xi whispered softly.

"They’re quite unlucky."
