Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone
Chapter 1102 - 660: Champion’s Might, Tomb Summoning_2
Chapter 1102: Chapter 660: Champion’s Might, Tomb Summoning_2
Every stretch of the line they had pushed through—there wasn’t a single Demon still standing.
Either they’d been killed, or their limbs shattered and they were taken alive.
As for these captured Demons, Fang Zhou had his own special use for them.
Which was to torture them, to squeeze out Silver Tier Spiritual essence.
......
Up against Fang Zhou, this Glory Champion Level Curse Blood Lord, and the rear-attacking Tomb Undead Legion, how could the Demons possibly hold?
The Gold Demons that had already made it up onto the walls of Rekton’s stronghold now all leapt down from the battlements, choosing to flee.
At this time the Demons had no way to use Teleportation Skills; Fang Zhou’s Tomb Mage Corps had unleashed a Space Seal, stabilizing the surrounding space so solidly that even if the Demons burned themselves out, they still couldn’t transmit out.
Those High Tier Demons who jumped down from the walls broke into a run along both flanks—they absolutely didn’t dare face Fang Zhou head-on.
Right now Fang Zhou had become a Giant Beast of war, a vanguard breaker on the front line of the Undead Legion.
Claws striking, Long Spear sweeping, and every now and then he exhaled Dragon Breath, blasting some Demons away.
Across the whole battlefield there wasn’t a single opponent who could take a round from him; every Demon that ran into him had only one end—death.
And he wasn’t afraid of being swarmed; not only was the Death Energy Shield on his body still intact, his rear was backed by his own Legion of Undead Warriors.
As for the Demons trying to flee along the flanks, Fang Zhou, busy farming trash, naturally noticed them as well.
Fang Zhou’s hundred-plus Curse Blood Knights had yet to launch their attack; even with the Demon Army on the verge of collapse, these Curse Blood Knights were still waiting out on the perimeter.
Their targets were precisely those high-tier Gold Demons trying to escape.
The seventy, eighty Gold Tier Demons attacking Rekton’s stronghold had already been marked out by Fang Zhou, even before he began his assault, as meat in his bag.
Their fate was simple—they would be made into Curse Blood Knights or Curse Blood Warriors.
A number of Gold Tier Demons quickly disengaged from the battlefield; when they saw the Curse Blood Knights outside, grouped ten to a unit, they let out howls of despair.
The odd Demon who slipped out didn’t require Fang Zhou to personally strike.
Only those that fled in clusters, or gathered up into groups of High Tier Demons, would draw Fang Zhou’s annihilating blows.
Though he hadn’t yet mastered many Glory Champion Tier Skills, he still had plenty of Gold Tier Skills under his belt.
In his hands, these Gold Tier Skills could erupt with far greater power.
A simple Fear Roar cost almost nothing for Fang Zhou at his current state.
But when it landed on a Gold Tier Demon, it could at least throw him into a minute-long craven stupor he couldn’t break free from.
A single attacking Death Tornado could punch through the Defense of the vast majority of Gold Tier Demons.
Even if it didn’t kill them outright, the second strike would be enough to finish them.
In the end, the outcome was no surprise.
Aside from a few Flying Demons who were fast enough to escape in time, almost all the other Demons were slaughtered by Fang Zhou and the Tomb Undead under his command.
When this battle finally ended, all that remained on the ground were shattered Demon bodies.
Of course, the Tomb Undead Legion hadn’t come through without casualties either.
Even with Fang Zhou’s absolute High Tier advantage, the Demons were too numerous; in their death-throes counterattack they still managed to kill two to three thousand Spiritual Remains Warriors, as well as some Blood Spirit Warriors.
But for Fang Zhou, these losses weren’t worth mentioning.
He was the one running the shop now—so long as he won the battle, everything harvested from the battlefield belonged to him.
On the field, the Undead under Fang Zhou’s banner began to clear the battlefield.
They seized all severely wounded, dying Demons; of course, anything below Silver Tier they simply ended to relieve their pain.
Silver Tier and Gold Tier corpses were sorted out separately, then Fang Zhou’s Curse Blood Mages packed them into Space Equipment.
As for Bronze Tier, their Demon Heart Cores were dug out first, then the bodies were piled up.
After all, when crafting Spiritual Remains Warriors, there was no need whatsoever for Demon Heart Cores.
These Heart Cores could be kept to be later exchanged for Blood Moon Coins, or used to promote his Undead underlings.
This time, Fang Zhou had earned at least another seventy, eighty Gold Tier Demon corpses, and he still intended to turn these bodies into Curse Blood Warriors.
Curse Blood Knights were indeed powerful, but the hammer-anvil tactic also required a solid infantry line.
This battle had fully displayed the dominance of the Curse Blood Warriors on the field.
As powerful foot-combat units, they could shoulder the infantry front very effectively.
And for future city defense, infantry would be much more convenient than cavalry.
In terms of cost and functionality, infantry were more suitable than cavalry.
...
The fighting itself had taken up most of the day, but cleaning up the battlefield took far longer—an entire day, in fact.
Once all the bodies were dealt with, Fang Zhou entered Rekton’s stronghold.
Rekton’s stronghold was a typical Undead stronghold, with high walls, towers, and all manner of Defense measures.
Unfortunately, his luck had been bad; the Demons were too many, and the reinforcements that came had their own agenda—namely Fang Zhou.
Strolling through the stronghold, Fang Zhou freely sized the place up.
After examining the defenses here, Fang Zhou turned and looked at Rekton, asking, "Rekton, I’ve inspected your city defenses.
By rights, with this number of Demons, you shouldn’t have been unable to hold, should you?"
In fact, that was true; if an Undead Legion occupied a stronghold with complete Defense facilities, they could at least withstand an attack from more than ten times their number in Demons.
The defensive Runes on the walls, the City Defense Crossbows inside the stronghold—these all could inflict massive damage on Demons.
Before the assault, Fang Zhou had also observed the Demon numbers; they were far from exceeding ten times the number of the garrison inside.
The specs of this stronghold allowed it to station at least three thousand Undead guards, plus far more Skeletons to serve as cannon fodder in the defense.
Though these Skeletons were weak, only at Apprentice Tier, and almost worthless in field battles, in a city defense they could still be quite useful.
And inside the stronghold, the Undead above Gold Tier numbered fifty to sixty.
With this number of Undead facing under thirty thousand attacking Demons, it shouldn’t have been such a bloodbath.
Hearing Fang Zhou’s question, Rekton slammed his fist angrily against the nearby wall. He said, "If nothing unexpected had happened, I definitely would have held the stronghold!"
"But before this Demon force attacked my stronghold, the front-line Demon-Slaying Vanguard, Draven, had already had his stronghold assaulted.
He requested aid from me. As a Demon-Slaying Vanguard, faced with a Demon attack, I didn’t think too hard about it—I simply led the main force from the stronghold out.
But when I reached Draven’s stronghold, I discovered the Demon numbers there were especially large; Draven’s stronghold had already failed to hold and been breached.
And at that moment, my own stronghold was attacked by another Demon force.
I could only retrace my path back, but by the time I returned, it was already too late.
The walls had already been blasted open by the Demons, a huge gap torn out, and the subsequent defense became extremely difficult.
After that, it became the situation you see now!"
At this point, Rekton couldn’t help but tilt his head back and let out a long sigh.
After listening to Rekton’s explanation, Fang Zhou raised an eyebrow and asked, "Since Draven was able to request aid from you, why didn’t you continue to seek aid from the Undead strongholds behind you?"
Rekton shook his head helplessly and said, "Of course I did send Vampires to request aid.
Unfortunately, the Demons were too many, especially in their air forces.
They directly locked down the entire region; no matter how many couriers I sent out in waves, none of them managed to get the call for aid through."
Fang Zhou continued walking, making his way up onto Rekton’s battlements, and said, "When you went to support him, Draven’s stronghold Defense had already been broken; doesn’t that mean he’s already been wiped out?"
"Yes, my lord. From what I saw, there was no way Draven could hold his stronghold!" Rekton nodded honestly.
"Then wouldn’t these Demons have destroyed my stronghold as well?
Rekton... that’s not what you said earlier!" Fang Zhou turned, fixing Rekton with a rebuking stare.
"?"
Rekton was utterly baffled—since when did it become your stronghold?
He opened his mouth and said, "My lord, I... how would I dare deceive you!
Demons may kill the Undead who defend the city, but they usually won’t fully raze a stronghold so quickly.
If you go now and drive those Demons out again, the damage to that stronghold should be about the same as mine."
