Chapter 255 - 134: Upper Sect

  • Next Chapter

「Three days passed in a flash.」

During those three days, Zhang Su made some arrangements.

After all, he didn’t know how long it would be before he could return from this trip to the Upper Sect. There were some things he needed to make clear.

Zhang Su began writing a letter to his older brother.

The letter wasn’t long, just a few pages.

In the letter, Zhang Su briefly explained that he was about to leave the Guiyuan Sect and told his older brother not to worry.

He also instructed his brother to take care of the family and said that if anything came up, he could find Zhou Peng or go directly to the Sect Leader.

The Sect had already promised to look after the Zhang Family and the Su Family.

After finishing the letter, Zhang Su folded the pages and placed them in an envelope.

He called for Xie Guanchao and handed him the letter.

"Have someone deliver this letter to my older brother in Hengshan County."

"Yes, Senior Brother."

Xie Guanchao took the letter and carefully put it away.

Zhang Su then gave some instructions regarding Pure Yang Peak.

Even though he was leaving, Pure Yang Peak would remain.

His team would also stay the same.

People like Zhou Peng, Xie Guanchao, Han Guiyi, and Lu Tianqing would all remain at Pure Yang Peak.

The Sect would continue to give them the treatment they deserved; they wouldn’t be mistreated just because Zhang Su had left.

Zhang Su summoned Zhou Peng and Xie Guanchao and said seriously, "After I’m gone, I’m leaving Pure Yang Peak in your care. If anything comes up, you can go directly to the Sect Leader. He has already given me his word."

Zhou Peng and Xie Guanchao both nodded. "Rest assured, Senior Brother. We will manage Pure Yang Peak well and wait for your return."

Zhang Su glanced at the two of them but said nothing more.

After all, he had no idea when he would be able to return from this trip to the Upper Sect.

After arranging these matters, Zhang Su went to the Instructor Pavilion.

The Instructor Pavilion was the same as always.

The usual chair was by the entrance, with Zhao Qianfeng lying in it.

His eyes were half-closed, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest.

Zhang Su walked up to Zhao Qianfeng and bowed respectfully.

"Master."

Zhao Qianfeng opened his eyes. Seeing it was Zhang Su, a faint smile appeared on his face.

"You’re here?"

"Your disciple has come to bid you farewell, Master."

Zhang Su stood before Zhao Qianfeng, looking at the old man whose hair was already streaked with gray.

His Master had spent his entire life in the Guiyuan Sect, and most of it in the Instructor Pavilion.

He wasn’t some important figure, but he had always been very good to him.

Zhao Qianfeng sat up straight, his gaze lingering on Zhang Su for a moment.

He waved his hand and began, "Zhang Su, to be honest, your master hasn’t helped much for you to get where you are today. When you go to the Upper Sect, no matter what, you must first guarantee your own interests. You have to stay alive before you can even think of helping the Sect."

Zhao Qianfeng’s gaze was very serious.

Zhang Su knew his Master was speaking from the heart.

Whether it was the Sect Leader or anyone else, they all hoped he would become a Direct Disciple in the Upper Sect as soon as possible, all for the purpose of helping the Guiyuan Sect.

But Zhao Qianfeng was different.

From the very beginning, Zhao Qianfeng had always wanted Zhang Su to prioritize his own safety and well-being.

It was like this when Zhao Qianfeng helped him secure a spot for the Fire Melting Cave.

It was the same later when he suggested Zhang Su practice the Pure Yang Nine Combinations Divine Skill.

And now that he was leaving for the Upper Sect, Zhao Qianfeng was still the same.

"Thank you for your guidance, Master. This disciple will remember it well."

Zhang Su bowed deeply to Zhao Qianfeng.

He hadn’t been in the Guiyuan Sect for long, but he would never forget the kindness Zhao Qianfeng had shown him.

Zhao Qianfeng looked at Zhang Su, fell silent for a moment, then waved his hand.

"Go on. Don’t keep the Sect Leader waiting."

"Yes, Master."

Zhang Su straightened up, turned, and left the Instructor Pavilion.

As he walked out the main entrance of the Instructor Pavilion, he glanced back.

Zhao Qianfeng had already laid back down in his chair, eyes half-closed, basking contentedly in the sunlight.

Zhang Su then strode toward the Sect Grand Hall.

’I’ve prepared everything.’

’Now, it’s time to go.’

Zhang Su arrived at the Sect Grand Hall. Ten people were already standing inside.

Ten people, led by Yu Hualong.

Yu Hualong was dressed in a long cyan robe, with no saber hanging at his waist.

Ever since his right thumb had been severed at the base, he had never carried a saber again.

Seeing Zhang Su enter, Yu Hualong took the initiative to greet him.

"Junior Brother Zhang, we were just waiting for you."

"Senior Brother Yu."

Zhang Su replied.

Both of their tones were natural.

The nine people standing nearby were all a bit surprised to see the attitude between Zhang Su and Yu Hualong.

These nine were all True Disciples of the Guiyuan Sect.

To become a True Disciple, one had to be a Postnatal Realm Martial Artist.

The oldest was in his thirties, while the youngest was at least twenty-five or twenty-six.

They had been in the Guiyuan Sect for many years and were very clear about the Sect’s affairs.

Yu Hualong was a Celestial Pride, and so was Zhang Su.

Two Celestial Prides in the same generation had appeared before in the history of the Guiyuan Sect.

Logically, there should have been some competition between the two Celestial Prides.

After all, the Sect’s resources were limited. If you took more, I would get less.

Even if they weren’t at each other’s throats, their relationship shouldn’t have been particularly good.

But looking at the way they were talking now, where was the slightest hint of conflict?

It was obvious their relationship was quite good.

The True Disciples exchanged glances but said nothing.

Sect Leader Meng Shouzhen also arrived.

"Everyone is here. Eleven disciples."

Meng Shouzhen stood in the center of the hall. His gaze paused on Zhang Su for a moment before sweeping over Yu Hualong and the other nine True Disciples.

"This time, the group will be led by three Elders: Elder Qu, the Master of Bamboo Sword Peak; Elder Lu, the Master of Yishui Peak; and Elder Zhong, the Master of Cyan Wood Peak."

As Meng Shouzhen’s voice fell, three Elders walked out from the side of the hall.

Although the three had different auras, they were all Martial Vein Masters and powerhouses at the Peak of the Postnatal Realm. Their strength ranked among the very best of the Guiyuan Sect’s Elders.
