Wang Chenning hadn’t seen Lv Qinglan, the high-ranking executive assistant from Lingyang Group, for several days.

The last time he saw her, Lv Qinglan had been the very picture of intellectual elegance, a woman of remarkable poise.

But the Lv Qinglan who appeared before them today was a different person entirely. Her spirit was broken, her beauty and elegance had vanished, and she looked as if she had aged more than a decade—like a frumpy, middle-aged woman.

Without so much as a pleasantry, Yang Xiaofei led Lv Qinglan straight into the room. Everyone, except for Wang Chenning, was startled.

This was especially true for Li Mingyue, Li Mingchao, Li Mingyuan, and Li Mingbo—the one who was having an affair with Lv Qinglan.

Li Mingbo was Li Mingchao’s older paternal cousin; their grandfathers were brothers.

Li Mingbo and Li Mingchao had a good relationship. In fact, Li Mingchao had been the one to orchestrate Li Mingbo’s involvement with Lv Qinglan.

Li Mingbo hadn’t been able to contact Lv Qinglan for the past few days, but he hadn’t thought much of it.

"Miss Yang, please, spare me!" Lv Qinglan dropped to her knees with a THUD before Yang Xiaofei. "I’ve told you everything! For the sake of all the years I’ve worked for you, please, let me go just this once!"

Hearing Lv Qinglan admit she had confessed everything, the Li brothers’ expressions grew even uglier.

Yang Xiaodong and Yang Xiaofu looked at each other in bewilderment. Unaware of the situation, they couldn’t quite process what was happening.

They knew that Lv Qinglan had always been their sister’s right-hand woman, highly respected within Lingyang Group.

Yang Xiaofu was even more furious. She strode up to Lv Qinglan, raised her hand, and slapped her across the face. "The Yang family has treated you well! My sister trusted you so much, yet you betrayed her—betrayed our family! Speak! Hurry up and tell us every stupid, vicious thing you’ve done! If you don’t confess in front of everyone, I’ll make you wish you were dead!"

"Well then, let’s all sit down, have some tea, and listen to Miss Lv’s interesting stories," Wang Chenning said with a chuckle. "Consider it a little pre-dinner entertainment!"

Li Mingyue’s face turned grim. He turned to Yang Xiaofei and asked, "Miss Yang, what do you want?"

"No rush," Wang Chenning answered on Yang Xiaofei’s behalf. "Gentlemen of the Li family, let’s hear the story first. We can discuss what comes next after we’re done. After all, the night is still young."

"Speak," Yang Xiaofei ordered Lv Qinglan, her expression impassive. "Tell them everything you’ve done and everything you know."

Lv Qinglan lifted her terrified eyes, glanced quickly at Li Mingbo, then at the other Li brothers with their varying expressions, before collapsing to the floor and sobbing.

Wang Chenning walked over to Lv Qinglan with a pleasant smile and said gently, "Everyone makes mistakes in their life. To right a wrong is the greatest virtue. You’ve made a mistake, so you obviously can’t stay with Xiaofei anymore. As it happens, a few of the clubs I’ve taken over are short-staffed. If you admit your mistakes and are willing to change, I can offer you a living. Who knows, you might even earn more than you did before!"

Wang Chenning’s words made everyone’s expression change, including Yang Xiaofei’s.

However, Yang Xiaofei quickly understood.

She knew that Wang Chenning’s seemingly teasing words were the most likely thing to shatter Lv Qinglan’s defenses.

Lv Qinglan had already confessed a great deal to her, but Yang Xiaofei knew she was still holding things back.

Sure enough, Wang Chenning’s words hit Lv Qinglan’s weak spot. She lifted her head in terror, her large, tear-filled eyes staring blankly at him. "Really? If I tell you everything, will you... will you take me in, Young Master Wang?"

"A prodigal’s return is more precious than gold. Besides, you’re quite capable—you were a pretty good double agent. If you worked for me, you’d certainly save me a lot of trouble." After speaking, Wang Chenning turned to the Li brothers with a grin. "Young Masters of the Li family, you don’t have any objections, do you?"

Then he added, "Not that it would matter if you did."

Wang Chenning’s acting wasn’t half bad, but it still earned him the unanimous scorn of the Li brothers.

"Young Master Wang, if you have demands, just state them. Stop making things difficult for a helpless woman!" After a moment of internal struggle, Li Mingbo finally bit the bullet and spoke up.

"No rush," Wang Chenning replied, before turning a cold face to Lv Qinglan. "You have one minute. If you don’t start talking by then, you’ll find out what it feels like to wish you were dead."

The fragile psychological defenses Lv Qinglan had struggled to build finally crumbled completely. Sobbing, she spilled everything.

She recounted how Li Mingbo had assaulted her two years ago, filmed the entire act, and used the video to blackmail her into submission. Ultimately, she had no choice but to yield to his vile pressure. Afterward, she agreed to become the Li family’s inside informant, tasked with helping Li Mingchao win over Yang Xiaofei, with the ultimate goal of controlling Yang Xiaofei to take over Lingyang Group.

She then detailed what Li Mingbo and Li Mingchao had ordered her to do recently: how they planned to entrap Yang Xiaofei, deal with Yang Xiaofu on the side, prop up Yang Xiaodong as a puppet, and ultimately seize control of the Yang family.

Finally, she revealed the Li family’s plans to deal with Wang Chenning—how they intended to ruin him so he couldn’t survive in Yandu, and then use someone else to have him killed.

She had kept evidence for all of these things.

After saying all this, Lv Qinglan got up and knelt before Wang Chenning once again, weeping and begging, "Young Master Wang, I’ve told you everything I know! Please, save me! I’m willing to work like a horse or an ox for the rest of my life to repay you. I don’t want to die! I have elderly parents and a younger brother still in school to take care of. They all depend on my income to survive!"

Then she turned to beg Yang Xiaofei. "Miss Yang, please forgive me! I know I’ve done so many things wrong! I’ll never dare to do it again!"

"You may leave for now," Yang Xiaofei ordered Lv Qinglan, her face devoid of expression. "We’ll call you if we need you."

Immediately, two women who looked like bodyguards came in and dragged Lv Qinglan out.
