Chapter 238: Chapter 238: South Korea’s Former Number One Beauty Comes Knocking
The exchange delegation consisted of over a hundred and ten members. With the accompanying officials and staff, the total number was over a hundred and forty, just the right size for a chartered plane.
Their South Korean hosts had arranged for four tour buses to take them into the city.
Once they were in the city, a pretty young lady arranged by their South Korean hosts began to introduce everyone to Seoul.
The South Koreans were certainly confident. The young lady’s voice was sweet, and she spoke surprisingly authentic Mandarin. However, her introduction made many people frown.
This young lady had likely never been to Huaxia; she had no idea how prosperous it had become. During her introduction, she kept pointing at the skyscrapers along the route, endlessly boasting about how wonderful Seoul’s urban development was. She praised its dense modern architecture and its intelligent, multi-layered transportation system, all while constantly comparing it to Huaxia, as if Huaxia was still nothing but countryside.
After listening to the young lady for a while, one of the members finally couldn’t help but remind her, "Miss, if you have time, you should take a trip to Huaxia and see for yourself. I’m sure you’ll be surprised to find that many cities in Huaxia are more tasteful and more modern than Seoul."
Another person added, "A few days ago, I think I saw a video. A South Korean woman who married someone from Huaxia posted on social media that she could eat strawberries every day there. It shocked all her friends back home, and they all asked if she’d married some super-rich tycoon. The woman said her husband was just a white-collar worker with a decent income. Nowadays in Huaxia, I’d say at least nine hundred million people can afford to eat strawberries in the winter, if not a billion, right?"
The pretty young lady was stunned silent by these two comments for a good while, not knowing what to say next.
The bus soon arrived at the delegation’s accommodations: the five-star Shilla Hotel.
The Shilla Hotel was located on the banks of the Han River, and from the window, you could see the scenery on both shores.
Seeing the name "The Shilla Hotel," Wang Chenning felt it was a bit strange.
He knew this property belonged to Li Fuzhen, the eldest princess of Shanxing, but he never expected their group to be put up in a hotel she owned.
The key leaders of the exchange delegation were staying in single rooms, while everyone else had double rooms.
To Wang Chenning’s surprise, his room wasn’t a single, nor was it a standard double suite—it was a luxury suite.
During check-in, the group leader told everyone that there were no activities scheduled for the afternoon. They were to check in first and would have free time afterward.
Delegation members could go out and explore, but they had to report their plans and go with a companion.
As Wang Chenning was dragging his luggage to his room, he received messages from Zhao Xiao’an and Yang Xiaofu at almost the same time.
They told him their room numbers, asked for his, and said they would come over to chat in a bit.
After telling them his room number, Wang Chenning added a reminder, "I might have some official business later, so contact me before you come over."
Both women agreed.
Wang Chenning first called over Wu Jingyi and a few others who were acting as his assistants. After briefly instructing them, he had them return to their rooms to prepare for the various upcoming challenges and competitions.
After taking care of business, Wang Chenning took a shower and changed into an outfit that better accentuated his physique.
He wanted to go for a walk by the Han River. After all, now that he was in Seoul, he had to make a social media post.
He had just finished changing when there was a knock on the door.
He assumed it was either Zhao Xiao’an or Yang Xiaofu and mentally chided them for showing up without calling first.
When he opened the door, however, it wasn’t Yang Xiaofu or Zhao Xiao’an standing outside, but an older woman with an exceptional presence and delicate features.
Although the woman was somewhat older, she still possessed a graceful charm, and one could easily imagine how beautiful she must have been in her youth.
"Hello, are you Mr. Wang Chenning?" she asked, greeting him in slightly stiff Mandarin.
Wang Chenning looked puzzled. "I am. And you are?"
"I am Li Fuzhen!" The woman flashed Wang Chenning a smile. "Miss Luo Yuqing told me you were arriving in Seoul today. I just saw your check-in information, so I came to pay you a visit!"
She only used Mandarin to introduce herself; the rest she said in Korean.
"Ah, it’s Miss Li! Please, come in!" Wang Chenning broke into a brilliant smile and, like a gentleman, invited Li Fuzhen into the room.
Li Fuzhen hadn’t brought any attendants or assistants. She had come alone, which surprised Wang Chenning.
"I just heard that on the way to the hotel, Mr. Wang gave quite a splendid speech that left our Director Li Zhengying speechless." Knowing that Wang Chenning spoke fluent Korean, Li Fuzhen, whose own Mandarin was poor, switched directly to Korean. "After Miss Luo told me about you, I did some research. I never imagined you’d be so exceptional!"
"Thank you for the compliment, Miss Li. You’re making me blush!" Wang Chenning invited Li Fuzhen to the sofa and then asked in a teasing tone, "My accommodations are even more luxurious than our delegation leader’s. Was this a special arrangement from you, Miss Li?"
"Yes," Li Fuzhen admitted freely. "I figured that you’ll surely have many visitors while you’re in Seoul, and it would be more appropriate to have a proper place to receive them. So, I arranged a premium suite for you. Are you satisfied?"
"More than satisfied! Thank you so much, Miss Li!" Wang Chenning dropped the pleasantries and asked directly, "You didn’t come all this way just to see me, did you, Miss Li? You must need something from me. Am I right?"
"Yes!" Li Fuzhen smiled as well. "I heard from Miss Luo that your medical skills are extraordinary and that you won over many of your country’s most famous doctors in a very short time. That’s why I’ve come to consult you about something."
"She actually told you that?" Wang Chenning feigned a look of shock. "If other people find out, I’ll lose my element of surprise!"
"Actually, a lot about you can be found with a simple internet search," Li Fuzhen laughed. "Don’t worry, I won’t reveal your secrets, even if you get into a medical showdown. I came to you today because I want to ask for your help. I also want to know if you have any interest in investing in Seoul, because I’d like to partner with you."
Li Fuzhen was so direct that it made Wang Chenning doubt whether she was really the eldest princess of Shanxing.
’Could this be a fake Li Fuzhen?’
’Where’s her feminine reserve?’
Just then, a message arrived from Luo Yuqing. She had sent him a photo of Li Fuzhen along with a heads-up that Li Fuzhen might proactively visit him today.
After comparing the woman before him to the photo, Wang Chenning’s doubts vanished instantly.
"So, what can I help you with, Miss Li? And what kind of partnership did you have in mind?"
"A couple of years ago, my divorce left me physically and mentally exhausted. I also used something I shouldn’t have for a while, which ruined my health. I’ve seen many doctors, but nothing has helped. Miss Luo said you could definitely solve my problem." Li Fuzhen didn’t beat around the bush and got straight to the point. "If you’re interested in investing in Seoul, I hope we can partner in the pharmaceutical field. I will absolutely make it worth your while."
Li Fuzhen’s words made Wang Chenning so happy he wanted to jump for joy.
He never imagined that before he could even set his own plan in motion, Li Fuzhen would deliver such a huge windfall right to his doorstep.
’As long as Li Fuzhen is asking for my treatment,’ he thought, ’there’s no way I can’t win her over...’
