Chapter 261: Chapter 261: No Regrets for This Life in Huaxia, Still Chinese in the Next

Zhao Xiao’an didn’t need to elaborate. Everyone knew what this was about.

That war is still a topic of global fascination. It brought countless of our countrymen to tears of both sorrow and excitement. It was the war that established our nation, announcing the rise of the Eastern Dragon to the world. For South Korea, however, it was a source of shame.

Seeing the awkward expressions on the South Koreans, Wang Chenning immediately played along. "Oh?! I never knew your grandpa was such a badass!"

"It wasn’t just my grandpa. His father—my great-grandfather—also came to Seoul." Zhao Xiao’an, pleased with Wang Chenning’s support, continued at a measured pace. "My great-grandfather was a high-ranking commander with thirty to forty thousand men under him. Before they deployed, he told my grandpa not to come back and see him unless he achieved a great military honor! And as a result, my grandpa was the first to charge into Seoul in his tank, winning a great victory."

"Your family is truly a lineage of heroes!" Zheng Guilong, also a sharp fellow, immediately chimed in. "That’s so admirable!"

Wu Jianyan chimed in, "We were so incredible back then, taking on seventeen different nations at once! After that, no one dared to bully us ever again. Haha! No regrets being born in Huaxia in this life; I’d be born here again in the next."

After hearing this, even those who had been annoyed with Zhao Xiao’an, including Wu Jingyi, Lin Qingyan, and Zhang Manxin, couldn’t help but see her in a new light.

They might not have understood the details, but they could certainly imagine the standing of a man who commanded thirty to forty thousand soldiers.

’Miss Zhao’s background is anything but ordinary!’

They felt the pressure mounting.

"It’s a shame they never returned to Seoul after that." Zhao Xiao’an cut herself off at the perfect moment, then turned to Wang Chenning. "We’re planning to livestream your entire medical competition this afternoon. You’d better bring your A-game!"

"I’ll be sure to pull out all the stops!" Wang Chenning said, grinning at Zhao Xiao’an. "If for no other reason than to impress you beautiful ladies, I can’t afford to back down!"

Many people burst into laughter, with some deliberately teasing Wang Chenning for being so girl-crazy.

And just like that, the tense atmosphere turned light-hearted.

The South Korean reporter who had been trying to set a trap for Wang Chenning and Zhao Xiao’an didn’t dare provoke them further. After a quick apology, she left with her cameraman.

The few remaining South Korean onlookers, fearing that the hot-headed Wang Chenning might use the incident as an excuse to fly off the handle and humiliate them, also dispersed without trying to get friendly.

Once the South Koreans had scattered, Zhao Xiao’an quietly asked her cameraman, "Did you get all of that?"

"Got every second of it!" The cameraman had worked with Zhao Xiao’an many times. How could he not know what Miss Zhao was thinking?

"Tell the station not to cut a single word of what I just said!" Zhao Xiao’an commanded, then quickly added, "Actually, I’ll give them a call myself in a bit."

As the crowd around them thinned out, Wang Chenning said to Zhao Xiao’an with a smile, "I never expected you to use that stuff to get under their skin."

"That reporter was obviously trying to set a trap for us. It pissed me off just looking at her. If I’m not happy, I’m going to make sure they aren’t happy either," Zhao Xiao’an said, then asked with a grin, "You don’t believe what I said, do you?"

"It’s not that I don’t believe you!" Wang Chenning shook his head. "I knew your great-grandfather and grandfather were impressive. I just had no idea they were *that* impressive!"

"My grandpa had just turned eighteen when he came here! Later, he went over to that Monkey Country in South Asia and helped those ungrateful monkeys fight against Gaul. A few years after that, he also took part in the conflict with those White Elephant scoundrels. And when it was time to teach the South Asian monkeys a lesson again a decade or so later, he was already leading his own front." Zhao Xiao’an looked at Wang Chenning with smug satisfaction. "My great-grandfather and grandfather are pretty incredible, huh?"

Wang Chenning replied with a wry expression, "Now I have to worry if I’m even worthy of riding your grandfather’s coattails!"

"Gross!" Zhao Xiao’an rolled her eyes. "Tonight, I’ll tell my grandfather about you. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to hear how you defeated the South Koreans so thoroughly they had no choice but to admit defeat."

"You absolutely have to!" Wang Chenning chuckled. "It just doesn’t have the same impact if I brag about myself. It’s much better when someone else does it for me!"

As they spoke, Li Fuzhen and Li Yanxian came over to greet them.

While Wang Chenning had been competing against Li Xizhuang and the other man, the aunt and niece had been sitting quietly in the conference hall, watching the show.

At one point, Li Yanxian had asked Li Fuzhen, "What’s the point of wasting so much time here today?"

Li Fuzhen had replied, "Don’t you see the opportunity here? Not just for business, but for other things as well!"

Li Yanxian was exceptionally sharp, and she immediately grasped Li Fuzhen’s meaning.

’A man who can defeat all the top experts in South Korea’s traditional medicine circles, who is also this young and handsome... he’s definitely someone worth befriending.’

’And the business opportunities he represents are almost frighteningly vast.’

’A famous master of traditional medicine could generate business opportunities like a money-printing machine.’

And so, Li Yanxian’s impatience vanished, and she continued to wait with her aunt.

She watched Wang Chenning’s entire performance. ’The guy’s a total showman, able to switch personas in an instant.’

’But she had to admire him. To be so talented and knowledgeable at such a young age, and to be able to command the respect of a whole crowd of old masters that most people couldn’t handle... it was truly remarkable.’

’Plus, he’s handsome. No wonder so many beautiful women flock to him.’

While sitting with Li Fuzhen and watching the spectacle unfold, Li Yanxian had also tasked someone with looking into Zhao Xiao’an.

She was even more shocked to learn that Zhao Xiao’an was a top-tier heiress from Yandu, with a status even more distinguished than her own or Li Fuzhen’s.

After greeting Wang Chenning and Zhao Xiao’an, Li Yanxian asked Wang Chenning bluntly, "Mr. Wang, were you deliberately trying to humiliate us yesterday?"

"If you see a friendly competition as an act of mutual humiliation, then I won’t argue with you!" Wang Chenning said, grinning at Li Yanxian. "But I must say, I admire your scholarship, Miss Li. You’re more outstanding than the average girl from Huaxia—I’m referring to your grasp of traditional culture, of course. As for your intellect, it’s far beyond ordinary!"

"I’ll remember for the rest of my life that I lost to you twice!" Li Yanxian said, looking Wang Chenning straight in the eye with utter seriousness. "I will be back to challenge you again!"

"I’ll be ready whenever you are!" Wang Chenning then turned to look at Li Fuzhen. "Sister Li, since I call you ’Sister,’ does that mean Miss Li Yanxian should be calling me ’Uncle’?"

Li Fuzhen: "..."

Li Yanxian: "..."

Even Zhao Xiao’an gave Wang Chenning a strange look.

"Chenning just loves to joke!" In front of everyone, Li Fuzhen was too embarrassed to call Wang Chenning "little brother," fearing he’d say something even more awkward. She quickly changed the subject. "Pu Zhengyang saw your demonstration of medical skill, yet he still dares to compete with you. Does he have some ace up his sleeve?"

Wang Chenning laughed. "Li Xizhuang has already lost to me. If Pu Zhengyang loses another match for their side, it won’t be a huge blow to his reputation. But by stepping up, he gets to solidify his position as the number one figure in South Korea’s traditional medicine. Why wouldn’t he take that deal?"

Li Fuzhen’s eyes widened at his words. "You’re planning to let him have that title?"
